@@Mirandas_Nail_Creations oh my goodness, I decided to take off my previous decal and apply a new one with the steps here. HUGE difference! Still room for improvement, but much better compared to previous attempts. Thank you again! I won't avoid water decals now ;-)

Thank you posting this! I ordered Poshy decals that will arrive today. My Maniology base and top coats don’t get here until later this week. Now, I know I can apply the decals without having to wait.

This was a great video and I really appreciate it, especially how to melt the excess off! I have done this method before but with mixed success. The whole layer from the decal on popped off of the top of my nail. Any tips on how to prevent that?

Thank you! I’m glad you found it helpful! Yes the first time I did this method I had the same issue. What helped is ensuring the dip is roughed up under the decal. I’ve used a different method of applying decals and I didn’t have any issues with the decal popping off.

Are those shop towels you use? Genius!!

For dippers if we have a gel base as well (I usually use only dip based liquids) can we use whatever base color we want using dip liquids activating and filing buffing THEN use a gel base before the decal? Will this make it easier? Then cure that and go back in with dip liquid and use the clear? Or am I making this too hard? I’m seriously scared to use my decals.

I’m honestly not sure if that would work. 😕 I’ve never tried it that way. BUT there’s no harm in trying it! In theory I think it should work. I understand you don’t want to waste your decals but the only way you’ll know is if you try! 🥰

So if you aren't using a full nail decal....let's just say I'm going to use hummingbird decal....would you see the edges of decal on your nail once you put it on or does the seams melt when you apply to nail and use pressure with sponge? Hopefully you understand my question 🤣

If you cut really close to the image and don’t have any leftover decal hanging over you won’t need to seal the edges with acetone! Using the sponge to remove any excess water should help the decal stay in place while you encapsulate your decal with clear dip or a gel top coat if you prefer 🥰 I hope this answered your question! 😅

I have a question?! So when u placed the decal right to the nail you didnt have any type of base to adhere? Did u use the dip base coat before u adhere the decal? Or it adhered with just the water and the pressure from the sponge? Thanks im researching before i apply these decals i bought them but never done it so im very curious before i make a hot mess

I didn’t use anything to help adhere it. I just applied the decal and used the sponge to make it flat and absorb the excess water. 🤗

Must the nail be completely dry? I've seen different ways, sometimes ppl say to put a coat of clear polish so the nail will be sticky

I’ve done it a few different ways since making this video. I do have a recent video I made where I used a gel base/top to apply the decals but yes I’ve also seen people use a sticky base coat and it worked well for them 🤗

I can’t get this to work at all. I did to coats dip and activated then added decal. Wouldn’t stick to it at all. I didn’t file and shape prior since it was pretty perfect. What did I do wrong

Oh no I’m so sorry 😣 Did you try to melt the edges with acetone a little when you got it in place? The acetone helps to melt the decal around the dip powder so it sticks better. If this doesn’t work I did upload a new video on a gel method to apply decals. That might work better for you 🥰

I've tried do copy this exactly with full slide water decals and the decal would not stick at all or stay in place. Any idea why??? Plz help I ordered a bunch of water slides

Oh no I’m so sorry you’re having issues. 😭 The decal does take a little bit of working with to get it to stay in place. For me when I start melting the edges with acetone that’s what helps them stay in place a little better. Also, I just post a new video on a newer method of applying them! I would highly recommend trying that method if this one didn’t work for you. ♥️

Aww man I’m so sorry 😭 I’ve seen other people have better luck with a sticky base coat.

This did not work well for me. I used this method yesterday. Had one completely peel off while buffing my clear dips I put over them. Had to redo that. Today half of one decal and its top coat has chipped on another nail 😔 did I need to rinse after the acetone? What do you thibk went wrong?? I watched this video like 15 times...lol

SuperAndersonal Did you buff the surface of your dip smooth before applying the decal? If so you have to ensure it’s a little textured or it could possible pop off or chip off. Also did you cap the edges with your dip top coat to help seal it all in? I’m so sorry it didn’t workout for you 😓

I did go over them with a coarse file to try to rough the surface up. Maybe not enough?

I followed this step by step and my decals started chipping the very next day. So frustrating.
