    Used Yorkshire grit in the past, which was good stuff. When I couldn’t get that any more I tried Chestnut cut n polish, well that was a waste of time and money. So I’ve just bought true grit in normal and superfine, and have to say that it does a much better job than either of the others. My Mrs wasn’t best pleased cos I left the lid off the superfine, and she put some on her legs!😅

    Hi Mike. Many thanks for another informative video. Can I ask if there is a particular direction the workpiece should be turning for sanding? I have read that it should reversed if the lathe is capable. Any guidance would be gratefully received. Best wishes. Steve.

    with the old Yorkshire grit i was able to apply a lacquer as my final finish if i de-greased the piece with methylated spirits first, do you know if thats still possible with true grit?

    Interesting that Mike Waldt makes no mention of Yorkshire Grit in this video, almost as if it no longer exists and particularly given his previous relation with YG (Waldt was, for example, a demonstrator at the YG stand at a Makers Central event some years ago). That YG has been acquired by another company (Easywood Tools I understand) does not seem sufficient reason to fail to mention the product and almost is a plea for explanation and, ideally, comparison of the two Yorkshire products.

  • @MikeWaldt

    @MikeWaldt

    Both products are excellent .... the difference being is that True Grit is made in the UK, while YG is not anymore. So, where possible I'll promote and use UK made products. Hope this explains things for you.

    @@MikeWaldt The video would have been better with this explanation in it. I agree with Nicholas, it was very odd for you to be talking about a new abrasive wax from Yorkshire without mentioning Yorkshire Grit. It seemed evasive, though I now see from your reply to Nicholas that there is an explanation. Best to get these things out in the open.
