Mysterio Amigo: I am not surprised. I reckon better than 80% of the vacancy postings on recruiting sites like Indeed, Workopoplis, Monster etc are fake or long expired to generate site traffic or worse nothing to do with jobs because they are just scammers fishing for personal info to sell to "analytics" firms who target advertising, or even identity theft. Job hunting used to be so much easier when the employer had to pay to put an ad in the newspaper for an XYZ technician. There was a certain "vacancies day" & you would buy a newspaper, trawl the back pages, write a letter with a dedicated resume & post it to the company by snail mail. This requirement to pay something up front weeded out the fake job ads & the "spray & pray" applicants. Then the Internet came along & things got REALLY complicated & frustrating...all in the name of being easier? A good job application takes at least 1/ 2 a day to do....but if 80% of them are returned to bogus jobs...

and some recruiters. I get contacted for jobs and they are't even sure on the specific of the job function, requirements and often it is a temporary position, but then they will ask me if I am interested. Many HR reps and recruiters will not even use email, they will just call at some random time and then ask you to call back, no time / day offered. So you wind up paying phone tag for days. I even had one that I emailed my phone number 4 times and she kept calling back on another number that I wasn't available on. Then she said that they had to 'move on' because they couldn't reach me.

Same with internships; I’ve been rejected from an interview with internships and I’m highly confused 🤷🏿‍♀️ maybe I have the wrong definition of what an internship is, but it’s an opportunity for college students-near graduates to obtain the experience that employers desire from applicants. I’m not saying employers should accept every student (like those with C averages) but those who are exceptional shouldn’t have to struggle this hard.

sydney alexander getting a job is like trying to join the Mafia. This is the reason why gossips and narcissists are filling the workplace while responsible, reliable, hardworking people like us aren’t wanted anymore. And we aren’t. Corporate fascism is more interested in compliant people who love being underpaid and abused. They no longer want intelligent, dignified employees. This is the reason why I’m moving to Asia and giving up US citizenship. America is not a country. It’s a giant mega corporation. Good luck to you👍 if you can, leave America.

Must have experience in a list of 50 different technologies, be able to do everything themselves with little or no guidance and training, manage a team a people on a tight budget and even tighter deadlines. Anyone who can do all of those things would not work for you, who is apparently incapable of doing those things yourself. And this applies only to companies that use an ATS - which is most companies. Your application is read by a machine - software configured to reject all applications that don't match a list of skills.

This information is a great direction. Remember this is to see how much work you want to do to get that job. If you just want to throw your resume out there you are fooling yourself. If you think that just because you have a college degree it gives you a sure win, again fooling yourself. Do the work, like she is talking about. There is no quick wins anymore unless you win the lottery and even then you have to do some homework on how to manage your money. We need to stop complaining and take responsibility for yourself and put effort into your career. These videos are some of the best I have seen and I have watched a lot as this is what I do for work, to help people find work.

How do I find jobs that are a 90% match when no one seems to be looking for someone with my personality type?

That's a tough one. Remember that most of the job ads is wishful thinking; They want the best possible people, so they just include such things in the ad. You don't have to fill all the requirements to apply, and a good workplace for you will be understanding with your personality. Of course you'll have to qualify for the job otherwise, like she said. That said I get really anxious around people, so I apply for newspaper delivery, packaging jobs, etc or tiny companies where you pretty much mind your own business. Excuse my english, this sounds weird even to me lol

Confidence is key. Believe you will get the job before you even begin the application process. Highlight your strengths and skills and tailor them to the job you are applying for. Your handwriting can be fixed, even if its just for the application. It's not as much about your personality as it is your confidence in your ability to fill the role they are looking for. O, and follow the tips on this channel. They're excellent.

I disagree about the 100% match thing. I've gotten jobs where I was not an ideal match, but something caught their attention about the way I presented myself in the cover letter and resume. In fact, most of my most successful positions were with jobs where I wasn't a match. Otherwise, there would be no way for people to switch careers or positions. I'm not saying it's the easy way, but I think people should keep themselves open-minded and seek the opportunities they truly want.

While I agree that it is harder to get an interview these days and that it's clearly due to the volume of applicants that employers are flooded with. I believe that it is also true that applicants have an easier time finding their ideal opportunity with the immense selection online. Perhaps it's the proverbial glass half full, but really it's just an expected trade off, when exchanging quality for quantity.

In some career paths, using social media might make you look incompetent, because it shows ignorance of server side data mining and risk mitigation. For marketing, media and sales it's probably the opposite. You can also probably open lines of communication through phone calls and email too, most companies usually have that info on their website.

After being out of work for over 3 months, I can't be fussy, so this is my personal feedback for these 6 excellent points; 1) I will have to try track dozens of companies that have a tiny chance of having a job that I can do. 2) I will try this when I can find any job posting to attempt. 3) I have looked at hundreds of posted jobs and can't match more than about 70% requirements at the best of times. This means that I have to try get past the ATS, but that seems impossible. 4) I have a broad skill set. Most jobs want some strength in a specific skill and so I can't beat those who focus on that one thing. 5) makes sense 6) I doubt that people 'know' (i.e. have personal credibility with) most of the people they are connected to on Linked In, but it is worth a try anyway.

Sure I work well in teams of like minded engineers & technicians (technical weirdos) but cold calling? It is especially hard when you don't know 1> if a call will be well received. 2> who you are calling & what to ask. 3> if it is convenient. 4> if the job even exists!...because there are so many stale postings or non existent "click bait" postings.

This method and these steps are great for the applicant who is only interested in applying for a position with one company. And yes, companies do feel good when they believe applicants only want to work for them, but how can any job seeker sustain this model, when 9 times out of 10, that one company won't even get in touch with them, let alone extend a job offer. Job seekers cannot just apply to one job with one company and put all their eggs and job application methods in that one basket. Additionally from what I've experienced, on LinkedIn when you reach out with a connection request...no matter how professionally you word it, if someone doesn't know you, they ignore your connection request.
