Quick Tip: if you make your text style before turn them into graphic text, when saving your Style, Premiere will automatically change that whole Caption line with the preset you just created, so you do not worry missing or not selecting all your caption boxes or doing it multiple times ;D

I just wish they'd release a feature that auto-highlights text as it's spoken. It does it in the transcription window, so I don't know why they can't create an effect to add to the graphics layer!

Hey - I do the same steps as you but when i go into the graphics menu after having my subtitle line selected it's greyed out. And upgrade caption to graphic isn't even there. only a greyed out upgrade to source graphic. I've done the most recent update in CC so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Can you please help?

Awesome tutorial, Jordan! Learning how to incorporate captions has been on my to-do list for a while now. You made this a lot faster/easier than anticipated! Thank you, man. Def gonna check out the next video (recommended at the end) AND take a look at Motion Array's Bounce Transitions. Those look really nice. Problem & Solution: Ran into one (1) issue....but, full disclosure, I need to update Pr Pro to latest version...but, I'm mid-project...never a good time to update. When selecting the check-box for In/Out points, the blue "Transcribe" button became un-clickable (the bright button gets dim...if that makes sense). Solution: Created new sequence, adjusted sequence settings (per usual), and pasted everything needed onto new timeline/sequence. Then there was no need to click the check-box for "Transcribe in point to out point only." The "Transcribe" button remained click-able. Down the road motors... Hope this helps someone.

i tried the transcribe feature on premiere pro and found it genuinely slowed me down more than it sped me up. i ended up spending a lot more time correcting its mistakes than i would normally if id have just typed it all myself. it REALLY doesn't cope well with multiple people talking in the video

I wish! Sadly the only way I can find to do that is to change the anchor point of the motion section in effect controls then highlight that motion section and copy paste for all other clips. A pretty quick fix but it's annoying that anchor points don't go along with styles

@@MotionArrayTutorials Hi! What about the Anchor Point on the TRANSFORM section of the text? I haven't found a way to copy and paste that one. For many of my presets to work I need that anchor point to be at the center of the text box and I have to manually change them... one by one...

Great video! But I generated captions for just one section of my video and can't figure out how to get back to the "create transcript" function to add subs to other sections. The same transcript keeps appearing and I don't see any way to either delete it or add to it. Help! Thanks!

At three dot (i think) there is an option to "Transcript again" so it will create a new transcript and add a second layer of caption, while hiding the first one!

Great video! I have a question, do created styles not save the alignment or positioning properties? Every time I align center, reposition my converted captions the way I like them the SAVED STYLE defaults to a set alignment. Not sure what Im doing incorrectly. Appreciate the clarity from the community! EDIT: Using Luis Gustavo's quick tip, I struggled through. I needed to align and transform to the properties I wanted after generating the captions, save the preset text style, and then upgrade captions to graphic, apply style to graphics. If this is incorrect please let us know. Im putting this down and going outside for a sec

Oof, I know EXACTLY what you mean Rodolfo, but sadly I haven't come up with a way yet to make that automated 😢The funny thing is that with Adobe's Beta Text Based Editing you can actually see the words highlighted that you're speaking from your text panel which is sort of the same effect, but there isn't a way yet to translate that native function onto the program monitor 🤔 but if I can come up with a way to do that I'll be posting it here immediately 😄 but for now I'm doing that work manually as well sadly

You can try transcribing 1 speaker each at a time and dragging a blue text style onto that speaker and repeat for another speaker. You can separate them by putting them on different tracks.

When creating text this way I'm having an issue with scaling. When scaling from the text or motion tabs, the position of the text changes. Any solutions?

Unfortunately, there is no option in my premiere pro 2023 to upgrade caption to graphics under the tab of graphics and titles.

From within your Creative Cloud application you should have a section called "Apps" and from there you can see Premiere Pro which should have text next to it indicating there is an update. Click on it and you can update Premiere 😁

True, but you can also duplicate the captions and then convert them afterwards so you have both 😁 I probably should have included that too

I'm running into the issue of animation presets that are set to "Anchor to Out" don't seem to work on the upgraded captions. Have you also run into this issue?

I'm having the same issue with presets that are set to "Scale". On regular graphic text they work just fine, but on graphics updated from captions the scaling doesn't work. Have you found out a workaround for this? Thanks

@@veronicabunge9819 Unfortunately, I haven't found a completely ideal workaround but resorted to using the older method of converting xml transcription files to captions with the help of text styles and motion presets to position. kzread.info/dash/bejne/X4asqsWYe8KYoNI.html There's a few presets of anchor points and positioning that you do need to set up to be able to use this method the most efficiently but it uses the animation presets at the end of the day if you can manage to make it work.

CapCut is still so much better at handling this... Believe or not, for videos that require lot of text, I edit them in Premiere and then add the text at the very end using CapCut.

Great tip, but it doesn't change the bounding box or save that for me, so the area that is chosen stays the same and I have to go back and individually do every bounding box to make them stay in the right area...AUUUUUGH. Still better than manually typing, but having to go back and manually change the text box dimenstions and location on each one...come on, Premiere. I hope I'm just missing something.

Maybe it is, but for ppl who work with after effects this is a huge time saver bc of the compatibility on those two programs. Davinci is also a good alternative than capcut for motion graphic text layers
