HOW TO ANDROID: Install ADB & Fastboot on Your Mac - The EASIEST & SAFEST Way - Permanent Method

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Download ADB & Fastboot from here:
developer.android.com/studio/...
NOTE: As of October 2017, entering "./fastboot" will give you this message:
fastboot: usage: no command
That means it is working fine! If you'd like to see the help info that is shown in the video, use:
./fastboot -h
Paste this into Terminal:
touch ~/.bash_profile; open ~/.bash_profile
Paste this into your text editor:
export PATH=${PATH}:/Applications/Android

A couple of updates since this video was made: 1. As of October 2017, entering the "./fastboot" command will give you this message: fastboot: usage: no command That means everything is working fine! If you'd like to see the fastboot help screen that is shown in the video, enter: ./fastboot -h 2. MacOS no longer uses Bash, so the bash profile no longer works. There is however a simple solution, to replace the text "bash_profile" with "zshenv" So, the first line of code becomes this instead: touch ~/.zshenv; open ~/.zshenv

You don't know how much thankful I am to you! So my pixel 2 never receives updates over the air, god knows why! and I've been borrowing windows laptops from people every month just to update my phone to the latest version. Windows tutorial I found so that was the only way I could do. But today I again tried my luck and came across your videos. And I have setup adb, updated my phone and just realising that how much easy it was on my mac comparing to windows. Just only if I would've found your videos earlier. I am so grateful to you! Thanks a lot for this informative video. Really appreciated! Keep making good stuff like these. Cheers!! :)

Brilliant Video, just managed to update my Pixel 5a on Android 13 after faffing around with Microsoft for 4 hours. One important message my Android folder was opening on zsh on Terminal, so if someone is having the same issue you can change it to Bash in order for adb to be permanent. In the Terminal app on your Mac, choose Terminal > Preferences, then click General. Under “Shells open with”, select “Command (complete path)”, then enter the path to the shell you want to use.

Thanks for a clear and concise video, I appreciate everything getting described in layman's terms. I have a problem maybe you can help me with. I can''t run adb and fast boot. I get an illegal action when I get up to the point of inputting the command. I suspect it's because I have an old Mac running OS X 10.6.8. Is there a work around, or do I have to wait until I buy a new machine. Thanks again, Paul

Try this: - Go to your Applications folder and find Terminal in the Utilities folder - Do a control+click on Terminal and select Duplicate - Rename the second Terminal application as "Terminal (x86)" - Do a control click on Terminal (x86) and select Get Info - Under the General section, click the box that says "Open using Rosetta" and close the Info window Use your new Terminal (x86) app for the process in the video. Let me know if this works!

You could try using Wine or Wine Bottler to run MiFlash. You can find Wine Bottler here: winebottler.kronenberg.org/ If that doesn't work you could also run Windows as a virtual machine or set up a dual boot installation of Windows with Bootcamp.

Thanks for pointing this out! It looks like fastboot has been updated to let you know that you haven't entered a fastboot command instead of showing the help info. The result you're getting actually means everything is working just fine and you can simply continue on from that point in the video :) If you'd like to see the help screen that is shown in the video you can use ./fastboot -h
