    A,properly manufactured high quality AN fitting should be fully tightened until the flats of the Hex are aligned. Your example was out by approx 30°. So it was either a lesser quality or not quite tightened all tgd way. Good job on showing how far to bottom out thd hose portion into the nut as that is also a critical dimention.often overlooked.

    I heard some say you need teflon tape? I been looking at a transmission cooler on amazon and it comes with AN fittings. Some reviews say the fittings need teflon/plumbers tape. I wonder if it also means I have to put an fittings on my factory transmission lines too?

  • @midlifecustoms

    @midlifecustoms

    @Soldier1287 AN fittings don't usually use teflon tape. You might be able to find a adapter fitting to go from the factory line fitting to the AN fitting on the transmission cooler.

    Good video. How come other videos show that you need to fray the nylon and stainless braid back a bit to install a compression sleeve before installing the AN fitting? This Evil kit doesn't seem to use those types of fittings.

    A few minutes later, I can answer my own question... because it's not PTFE hose. Those fittings with the "olive" are for PTFE hose. You're just using regular nylon hose. 🙃

    Rack and pinion pressures run 400-600PSI, depending on the brand. Recirculating ball steering gear boxes run 800-1,200PSI and low pressure return is under 20PSI. DK, ASE Master tech since 78, retired.
