Not always necessarily "pull", toproll for example would be a mix of both If your arm is under constant tension you'd eventually tire out and lose, just bring your body closer and lock in using your weight for a defensive stance Getting a higher grip is usually condiered cheating but you can train your forearm to change the grip mid-match

Another really good tip is to slide your elbow forward a bit and then hook them so you can use your body weight to take them down. This works best when you’re at a slight disadvantage and starting to lose. This helped me beat a senior while I’m a freshman lol

So true about everyone going into a hook/press. I’m a pretty muscular guy and 6’5 so I get challenged to arm wrestles every now and again and they always have this smug look and are saying to their mates like “yeah I got the technique I know how to beat bigger guys.” And yeah, every time straight into a terrible hook so all I have to do is hammer back and pronate, game over. Another trick is to slightly supernate your hand on the set up, they’ll have no idea what you’re doing but getting that extra edge on grip and get right around them!

Great tips! Another way to go that I always use is that when you start, pull the wrist towards yourself, slide the elbow forward, slowly put the bodyweight up front and then suddenly as the element of surprise just pull their forearm and bite them at the wrist, kick their knee, headbutt their chest, they'll try to retreat but don't let them, now they aren't putting any force, so just calmly put it down and run... Works for me!

@@cindyd4333 He's assuming, he's insecure about someone else's hard work, that's why he is sugar coating it with lies about steroids so he can feel better about his own scrawny physique. And as for him defeating the bigger guy (assuming he is telling the truth, which I certainly doubt quite a bit) Arm wrestling has more to do with technique than Brute Strength, given that being stronger does help a lot but it's not the entire thing. Let's put it this way, imagine a really bulky man that has been working out for a long time and can bench, squat and deadlift quite a lot of pounds but has never been in an arm wrestling contest before gets into an arm wrestling fight against a much smaller guy who has been professionally arm wrestling for a long time and has all the basic and advanced techniques down. Who do you think would win? The strong man who has no experience with this particular sport or the smaller guy who has quite a lot of knowledge about this particular sport, knows the basic and advance techniques and hacks for increasing chances of success, and has been competing for quite a while? Like I said, winning at an arm wrestling match is not a symbol of strength as most school kids would like to believe. It has way more to do with technique than anything else.

one thing you forgot is you start with square shoulders before the hit. also to avoid injury, a good technique is to never let your hand get out of line with your head. this will make so if you lose, your whole body will go down with your hand but this will prevent your arm from getting into a compromised position

If his grip is too strong to toproll then you need to beat him a different way perhaps through using a hook technique & having a lot of back pressure + side pressure.

Hi Ray, thanks a lot for the christmas training program, just finished the intermediate fat grip programm, feels so good, i feel stronger in my angle and fingers. I`m having a competition in 2 months, and i thought to keep the most of the program, especially the pullup/finger strength exercises, but make some minor changes. For example, i want to add a bit more pronation because i feel like its one of my weaknesses. In this way i`ll do 2 pronations a week. Another thing is to substitute some dynamic exercises like belt hammer curls or barbell biceps with their more specific static alternative like toproll or hook work on the cable machine as in one of the last videos. So i`ll have 2 static/isometric angle exercises a week. Do you think its okay?
