    I finally ordered the star chain kit from speed kings yesterday, to go on my 2016 FXDLS. So when it arrives Tuesday, I'll be doing the install next weekend. I'm stoked, can't wait. Of course I got a black sprocket and gold spacer and lock to match my black and gold fxdls.

    @@RidinDad I wanted the 24/53...but of course it was in stock every day I couldn't buy it, then the day I could they only had 24/51. So I went with that for now. I ordered it at 4am Friday morning and it was shipped by 8am and in usps hands by noon.

    @@RidinDad So... I went ahead and started the disassembly. I got everything taken apart with ease in about 20 minutes, but once I got to the main shaft nut I got stuck! Tried my Air impact (250ft lb) and 4ft cheater bar/breaker bar with my 250lb dad while I hold the rear brake. Can't get it broke free, heat didn't work either. Guess I have to buy a badass impact now :/

    LOL, it sucks man. For me it’s not like the eyes and throat that a lot of people get. It’s 100% in the nose in the head and it makes talking or doing any kind of thing like that terrible. I’m just glad it wasn’t at its worst when I was at work.

    @@daymaker5460 absolutely zero need for chain if you aren’t wheeling your Harley so I agree. Even then you don’t need a chain but makes it grab a little more. If you ain’t doin that you’re just doin it for looks

    I just got one of those alignment tools for my dyna for the rear wheel and I just wanted to know, I replaced the wheel bearings and rear tire about 200 miles ago but turns out after getting the alignment tool the rear tire was misaligned the whole time. Any chance to overthink if the bearings are bad now or am I overthinking it and the bearings should be good after only riding it for 200 miles that way.

    I used the Motul stuff found it flung off, did I put too much on, do you spray it on then let it dry for a while, now using Würth Dry wax that does nit fling

  • @RidinDad

    @RidinDad

    I switched from motul. I use maxima spray wax now which doesn’t fling either. And to clean I use muc off which gets rid of old wax great. Only spray on the inside of the chain and yes let it dry a bit for a ride

    I just recently traded the bike in for a different bike, but I had zero wear on that rear sprocket that I could see, and I never had an issue even though I had the upgraded cam and a lot more torque and horsepower than stock, and I wrote it very aggressively. My buddy who has the exact same kit on a low rider Still has the same sprocket set up since about three years ago now with zero issues also and he is really bad about cleaning and maintaining his chain

    I have 2 videos on this. 1 is the install where I talk about why I’m doing it. And 2 is the reflecting on it after it’s on and talking about if I think it’s worth it. In short, it’s easier to fix on the go in case something happens. Better power translation, and better gearing opportunities

    There’s no use man. Some people think the only reason to put chains on your bike are with horsepower and they just don’t want to listen to reason or educate themselves on anything else. Freaking 200 cc sport bike has a chain and obviously that is putting out much much less torque and horsepower than these twin bikes, but what do we know?

  • @riffraffchoppers

    Harley’s don’t come Factory with chain so you will absolutely have a problem finding out the tension for a chain on a Harley

  • @RidinDad

    @RidinDad

    Жыл бұрын

    Lol no you will not. I even explained the tension in the video. Did you watch it or just blindly comment? Most chain kit providers will give you their recommended tension but amid not a good rule of thumb is about an inch.

  • @riffraffchoppers

    @riffraffchoppers

    Жыл бұрын

    @@RidinDad ya I watched it and there is no Harley manual for chain tension so whatever someone googled will Just be someone’s opinion. The tension shouldn’t matter from one chain kit to another so if it does it’s just people’s preference. I always use an inch but I base that off how Iv always ran my rigids but ask 100 different builders about a bike with suspension and there will be a hundred different opinions. So no it wouldn’t be easy to look up chain tension specs especially ones that are accurate. I also don’t remember if I saw in your video you telling people to measure that at the point in the chain with the most slack.

  • @RidinDad

    @RidinDad

    Жыл бұрын

    You measure the chain tension at about half way between the front and rear sprockets. Same as any bike. If you don’t measure it at the most slack part then you won’t get an accurate tension.

  • @riffraffchoppers

    @riffraffchoppers

    Жыл бұрын

    @@RidinDad yea everyone knows that but what I’m saying that you didn’t mention was you need to rotate the wheel and find the spot in the chain or belt that has the most slack and then adjust at that point. You probably don’t know that tho. Well now you do

  • @RidinDad

    I think you’re confusing me for someone who doesn’t know what they’re talking about. So if your goal is to try and be a dick on here to someone I would suggest you find a different channel because I’m not that guy. I’m sure your riff raff choppers are super sweet
