How To add shelves to an IKEA Kallax Unit

We blumming LOVE IKEA around here, and the Kallax units are a flexible storage GODSEND. However, when it comes to storing toys like LEGO, they can create a bit of dead space. I was looking online for a shelf that I could add to the Kallax units to add an additional layer and I found some. However this simple product from IKEA themselves is perfect, and CHEAP too.

They currently don't have these in the US, nor the glass Kallax door inserts. Both of these are SUCH good solutions and I cannot believe for the life of me that IKEA would think U.S. customers wouldn't buy these.

I am so surprised it’s not available in the US but it is in Canada… usually it’s the opposite! They even have a multi-compartment one for paper and another one for wine bottles.

These double shelf units are available in US
The biggest problem with these (at least at my local Ikea in Canada) is that they're only available in white

Hi can you please measure the distance between the space of each shelf. I’m assuming the width is 13 obviously but curios on the height of each space. Please advise thanks

FYI, I was just able to purchase some this week in store in NY. I’d check if they’re available at your local ikea
For some reason mine doesn't fit the way his does..
Looking for this exact thing, can't find them anywhere. Lame Ikea.

Same here! They don’t seem to be sold right now in the US but are readily available at the Canadian & UK IKEA stores. 🤔
are they suppose to be wobbly when have them all the sides insert ?

You can paint or cover them with peel and stick paper and even stain them. There is a spray you can use to help the paint seal on the material. Hope this help
