Thanks for this video. I’m planning on putting wheels on a Malm dresser and will use the information from this video to construct the supports for the wheels. I looked and no one has addressed adding wheels to IKEA furniture, yet IKEA sells wheels for furniture in the store… although I’m planning on getting a more heavy duty castor for this dresser. By the time my stuff is put in the dresser, it weighs so much that I can’t budge it… thus, the need for wheels. Thanks again, Tiffany… you explained the process so clearly and completely that I have the confidence to proceed.

Hey, I don’t remember that. But measure the wood where that screw will be going through. Your screw should be about an half inch longer to catch the wood. But not too much longer where it’ll go through the dresser on the other side, then you would be able to see the screw. I hope that makes sense.

Tiffany, this was a great video. I notice the Legs you used are standard Ikea. I have some that are similar. What size drill bit did you use to pre-drill holes for the legs?

Hi, thank you! I got these legs from Amazon, I don’t remember the size of the bit I used. Just do what I did and test it out, you’d have to do that anyway to be sure.

@@TiPrenee05 what's the size (height) of the legs?? Gorgeous outcome!
Curious why the torx screws and not just long wood screws? (Mostly because I'm trying to use what I have at home, and I have long-ass wood screws haha). Also how is the middle holding up? I have the same malm and I'm worried the middle might sag?

I’m sure those screws would work just fine lol. My middle is still holding up good
Thank you, I’m hoping to add legs to the IKEA Brimnes dresser I just got! I hope the bottoms looks similar to the Malm when I start assembling it so I can use your technique! I did have a question though - did you pre-drill the holes in the side of the dresser for the torque screws to fit into? Thanks! :)
@TiPrenee05

You’re so welcome!! Thank you 🥰 no I didn’t pre-drill into the dresser just into the wood.
Did you add brackets? In the video I see some in some packing but there’s part of the video of you adding them, just curious :)

What brackets? sorry, it’s been a while and I don’t remember lol
Shouldve gone in through the sides of the dresser then into the timber. Ikea sell hole covers. Being chip board the current way will start slipp over time.
hello, in centimeters would you tell me the measurements of the two wooden pieces? height, length and depth.
@TiPrenee05

You’ll have to google cm to inches to get the measurements
This video has been so much help! Did you end up using the piece of 8 inch wood for a middle support?

I am considering doing this to my dresser, do you find that the middle is supported well enough? or would you recommend adding a leg in the middle?
@TiPrenee05

Yes the middle is supported well enough, you don’t need to have the middle support.
@TiPrenee05

Did you try it out?
The legs usually come with a metal receiver that gets hammered into the wood and then you screw into the receiver. I don’t think that’s a safe mounting method. Beware of collapsing legs.
Where did you buy the legs from?

I've had the 4 drawer malm dressers and the 3 drawer nightstands for over 9 yrs. They have never tipped on me or my husband. I would say as long as you don't put your heaviest stuff in the top drawers, you should not have a tipping issue.
I did not know there was no bottom. Honestly now I don't want to buy it. Love the way you made it look though.
