How to Set Up Thunderbird Email Account: Auto Detect IMAP/POP Server Settings, Modern Authentication, and Manual Configuration
How to add another email account to thunderbird In this video, I will show you how to set up Thunderbird email account. I will cover two methods: auto detect IMAP/POP server settings, Modern Authentication, and manual configuration.
Auto detect IMAP/POP server settings: This is the easiest method and it works for most email providers. Thunderbird will automatically detect the IMAP/POP server settings for your email provider.
Modern Authentication: This method is more secure than the auto detect method. It uses two-factor authentication to protect your account.
Manual configuration: This method is used if the auto detect or Modern Authentication methods do not work. You will need to enter the IMAP/POP server settings manually.
I will also show you how to configure Thunderbird with an email account manually. This is useful if you are setting up an email account for a custom domain or if you are having problems with the auto detect or Modern Authentication methods.

Thanks for the video. I am planning to use thunderbird for my gmail account. Wanted to know whether at 04:30, am i supposed to enter my gmail account's password or do i have to generate a new password for thunderbird on my desktop. Thanks!
Thunderbird or gmail multiply the amount of photos attached by about x10. So when you just send the 1.7Mb photo, the email tells you that you are sending 17Mb. What is going on and if this can be remedied?
When setting up the email, should the name be the same one as appears in the email service that was originally setup in (e.g. Hotmail, Gmail, etc)

If it's the Name field normally enter Person's Name or Accounts Your Company, Bookings Your Company if the companies has more than one email
I am trying to add 4 gmail accounts to Thunderbird. I get this message for anything over the initial account: "400. That’s an error. The server cannot process the request because it is malformed. It should not be retried. That’s all we know." This is when it tries to verify the password on each account addition.
One PC and one laptop in the same household. One device receives email (laptop), the other device (PC) does not. Both have the exact same Thunderbird settings. Gmail is the email on both devices. What is the problem ?

IMAP will mirror the inbox on multiple devices. However, the IMAP settings must be on ALL. If anyone is set to POP3, that will pull down the email to that device only, leaving nothing technically on the mail server for other devices to see.

From 3.10 to 3.40 you mention several times "you have been issued". Issued from where ?

The same as you've been using in web-mail etc. If you're dealing with a recently made, new account, you would have created one at that time.
