    I love that I can still learn new things to tweak whenever I get back in the car. I have lost so much confidence having not driven much lately, and never realized that I make mistake number 3 more often than I thought. Combine that with braking too late, and I think it's time for me to go back to basics and relearn some better habits. Keep it up Suellio! The impact you have on each of your students is profound.

    Half way through your book now, and the information is incredible! Just got to the bit about MRP’s, revolutionary ideas! Rotation makes so much more sense now and I can’t wait to learn about the 3 tools for rotation. It’s my first time reading; I saw in the introduction you said it’s okay to skim read on the first read through to absorb the new information and then you said you recommend to take notes to solidify everything on the next read throughs. Do I write down notes on everything important in every chapter? How do I go about improving, do I rewatch my own laps while looking for errors to work on (I don’t have someone who can look at my laps for me)? Do I work on new concepts bit by bit? Sorry if this is a lot of questions it’s ok if you don’t have time to answer them I just want to get the most out of your teaching! 😄

    Ok but what if it's a new car/track combo and we don't have perfect reference data to compare our slow laps to?

  • @harryphillipsdev

    @harryphillipsdev

    Best way without anyone else's reference, is to drive some laps, experiment with different lines and methods of attacking corners, then compare your own laps together to find and stitch together the fastest drive through each corner

    Really depends on what issues you have in your driving, identify those first. Like find a track that is hard for you. If you really can't find your issues, a good starting track is Barcelona, it has a nice balance of corners

    Common mistakes. Trying to go as fast as possible using only that single mistake 3:43 force to not trail brake and using only steering and engine braking 8:35 not use the whole track on corner entries 11:33 trail braking too much 16:50 steering too much

    Doesn't iRacing provide location of the car in the telemetry? If yes, then David Perel (the man, the legend, the racing driver behind Coach Dave Delta App) should tell his team to include this data, so you can compare your lines against a reference lap. That way, you can see which corners are your worst enemy. This feature would be greatly beneficial to beginners who are 2+ seconds off the pace. Once you get within that 2 sec, only then the telemetry starts being useful. Let's say the average track has 15 corners. If you're within 2 sec, you lose avg 0.13s per corner. If you are more than 2 sec off the pace, why would you use telemetry to improve in the corners where you lose only 0.1, when there are other corners where you lose 0.5s? Visualizing racing line against reference, like some other services offer (and proper telemetry software like Motec and McLaren Atlas (both natively supported by iRacing)), is IMO **THE** feature they need to implement as soon as possible. Example: popometer for ACC. You can see where on the track you are positioning the car, where you start braking, how much, where you start accelerating,... And it's a web app, so something that can be done relatively easy.

    Telemetry is basically useless, you said it in the beginning so what is the point of the video? If Max Verstappen does a lap, you can look at his telemetry and make yourself just as fast given enough time but all you're doing is copying his braking, turn in and acceleration you've done nothing revolutionary, what happens when you go on another track? You're absolutely lost because you dont know what made him fast.

  • @agentofenhanced2428

    The only thing that allows you to be faster is to carry more speed in and out of the corners and use all the track, those are the only two things you can ever do. The only way to do those things is to 1. Trail braking 2. Throttle application 3. Steering Trail braking allows you to carry more speed into a corner, more speed into a corner will naturally push you outside so you're going to be using more of the track by default. Correct throttle application will give you a good exit and can be used to steer the car quite often as well although not as much as trail braking Last is steeeing because if you do the first two right you wont be using the steering wheel that much for steering because the trail braking and throttle application will do 70% of the steering other than corners that are long which are very easy anyway and you probably won't be losing time there anyway

    Telemetry is collecting data and transmitting it back to another location for others to view and analyze in real-time. Really should just be saying "use data in motorsports".
