I just came back today from my third solo trip. While I love my husband and family, solo trips are rejuvenating. Although I felt somewhat uncomfortable the first time around, by this third solo trip, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. For any woman who is hesitant, I say just do it. Don't overthink it.

I lost my husband of 57 years two years ago and I finally decided to go solo. I took a cruise to Alaska. We had been on this cruise before so I was familiar with the routine. I visualized the trip from leaving home to returning and finally got enough nerve to try it. Can I just say that I loved it? I could do want I wanted. When I wanted or do nothing at all. I was alone but not lonely. Can’t wait to go again.

Great ideas. I have always been somewhat independent having no issues eating by myself or taking weekend trips to visit friends or family. My husband and I were just on a Mediterranean cruise and it was our first time to Europe. On a day that we were to do an excursion visiting small villages of Provence, he ended up sick and in bed. I decided to do the excursion. Granted it was with about 20 others, but I pretty much stick to myself and just took in all the beauty. When we had time for lunch, the whole group ended up at the same restaurant, but I got myself a table by myself outside. I had the most amazing Salad Nicoise and glass of Rose. It was a wonderful day of flexing my solo muscles!

For many years, I traveled solo for work. My tip- I always sat at the bar for dinner. If a person sat next to me and I felt like talking with them, I would. If not, I didn't. I have explored many cities solo and enjoyed it. I really never felt threatened. Now that was 20 years ago so things have changed as far as safety. Now that I am retired, I enjoy and appreciate the company of my hubby❤

This was an outstanding video! Thank you so much for all the informative tips and valuable advice for women traveling solo. I’m 66, and semi-retired, and I’m getting SERIOUSLY excited about the prospect of traveling alone. My husband has practically no interest in traveling; therefore, if I don’t go solo, I won’t get to go at all, and that is not acceptable to me! I have so many hopes, dreams and interests that I want to explore and fulfill, despite my chronological age. Thank you so very much for allowing me to believe that my dreams are attainable!

If you don’t mind me asking, how did you start going without your husband? Mine, I’m afraid, will be pretty PO’d at me for saying I’m going on a trip alone. He wants to go to Hawaii together, but not out of the US ever and that’s bucket list stuff for me. Thanks for your input!

I love to travel and have had some exciting times with my husband. But I have traveled alone and it has been an adventure. Well, my husband doesn't want to do any major trips anymore, so in the summer of 2023, I flew to London on my own. It was stressful and lonely, but I stretched my comfort zone. I enjoyed the planning, the itinerary, and travel plans. I did go on tours with a group, but most of the time, it was just me going places around the city. In 2025, I am planning a small group of Wales and this is because I wanted someone else to do the legwork. I hope to go to Cardiff early so I can become acclimated to the time difference. Oh, by the way, I'm 67 and don't know how much longer I'll be able to travel.

On a recent trip to Italy I met several women travelling on their own. I asked them about their experiences and they had great tips, like yours. One woman always stayed at hostels as she enjoyed the camaraderie but slept with her back pack secured. Another said she would sometimes tag along behind a tour group if she felt unsafe. For the most part, the stories they shared were positive and I think the tips on this video would have helped.
