@Shirish Pokharel not really, but i dedicated a lot of time to the game and i also had a friend group who were already silver/gold level so i’d always be playing with their MMR, usually getting dumped on but i felt like i was getting better quick. one thing i do a lot is instead of tilting and blaming team mates i try to find what i could have done better, and try to learn from my mistakes

step 1 is SUCH A MOOD ive been saying this since i started taking league seriously. if you cant control your own champion/movement without looking you will never ever be able to look at the map or dodge skillshots or punish last hits or any of the other million things you need to be thinking about during a game. this is why ive always said that there is a minimum level of micro ability required to "unlock" the brain side of the game. im so glad you talked about this because i feel like this is a super common problem for the less mechanically gifted players like myself and ive literally never seen anyone talk about it in any sort of detail

AHA! Mini-breaks! I admit I fall into the 3rd category of players who do not seek out mini-breaks in the lane. But, I plan to rewatch the JG tracking video and remind myself of the tremendous weight of information I can gain from the map, especially regarding JGs. I'm floored you could turn my request into a video with a one week turnaround time. I look forward to my next cycle of review games where I can hone in on identifying mini-breaks in the lane. Cheers!

I don’t know if it is kosher to mention other content creators here, but I had recently gotten much better at map awareness from watching xfsn saber coaching videos. He focuses on habit based learning and he often has to deal with map awareness issues with his clients. It helped me build habits to fix my map awareness, but this video you created kinda explains the nuts and bolts behind the habits.

That champion mastery concept of never looking at your own champion is similar to mastery in fighting games. Focusing on the opponent helps you to learn their patterns and space yourself as best as you can. Of course in League it comes with the added benefit of looking at the minimap. Excellent video Curtis!

What a great video, I've learned so much from this! A suggestion for a topic that I haven't seen covered on youtube yet: When and how to teleport as a midlaner. For example, when I see my botlane getting dove, how do I decided whether I should tp? Should I TP during the dive, or is it too late then? I find this incredibly difficult to decide and it's losing me tons of games.

Really good vid, funny thing is I was actually thinking about how good it would be to find something about this , then this pops up :D , I'm not sure how well I am with this , gota jump into the game and try it out. Really constructiv and easy to understand , Thank you My biggest problem is that I feel totally lost once laning phase ends , I just don't understand when should I push , grupe with the team or go for objectives I know when can I get away with a roam , I even manage to fake them , but once the game passes the 15-20 min mark my performance falls apart and from there it's a coin flip

I have this habit of pressing tab and flipping through my f keys whenever I've started the animation to last hit a minion and just look at the map periodically. it's a really short period of time so should I try to assess the map while looking at tab or just ditch that altogether? Also just a funny side story. I was watching Bobqins stream and he was talking about how informational channels don't do well and me and quite a few people in his chat spammed COACH CURTIS and made him acknowledge you :D

It's a good habit to get into if you are able to actively process the information you are seeing, faker is very good at utilizing the f keys, but keep in mind it's not about it 'looking cool' , it's about what the information is informing you to do next Thanks brother

what about hitting tab for info when is that good to do and what type of info are you looking for when hitting tab and i like to know what you think of using F1-F5 to get info that looking at your map can't over looking at map odds you want to do the 2 but how to do that because you need to do 1 thing at time f keys give you hp of cs and how lane is pushing/ being played hp/mana of their laner and sometime you get sums/ults what can help you but map tells you if someone on a ward

Coach, thank you so much i learn a lot from you. But, there is something which is still confusing me, the recall timing. If you can, make a video about timing right the recalls.

I noticed that one of the main reasons why I sometimes completely neglect the minimap is how much pressure enemy champs is doing. For example, when I play vs a Yasuo I have to super focus on not making mistakes because a simple mistake could mean half of my hp and heavy losing my lane, in that scenario my Minimap Awareness goes to hell. EDIT: Ok seems like he talks about it in 17:19

"Don't look at your character, focus on the other laner and the minions" Kinda hard to do when you main TF. I tend to spend a lot of time timing my W which requires me to look over my head or my ability hud.

i know its old comment but you can always time your W, the card rotation continues even when W is not rotating, so for example you can time when your cards are set up properly and just double W quickly, requires a lot of practice though

Do you have any tips on playing with locked/unlocked camera? Currently I'm used to locked camera and unlock it for 2-3 seconda to check something and lock it again. Can learning playing with unlocked camera improve my micro?

Currently I'm trying to add Orianna/Nocturne to my championpool on an account 1 Elo below my main (G3, P2) and I always get super frustrated when I see myself losing games that I should be winning (I'm a onetrick so it feels like I'm only at my elo because of my champion being elo inflated). Do you think this might be partially because of 21:17 (my map awareness going down as I don't know about the matchups, cooldowns, limits, etc yet)?

  • @CoachCurtis
