Sorry to hijack your “Series 7” video with my “Series 3 questions” but saw another one of your vids on the 3 series for those of us with 2016’s (320i xDrive). It’s literally 3 days old (to me) and am trying to figure out what all I need to add Apple CarPlay to it? I put my VIN # into your website system as requested and it gave me 5 options - front/back cameras and an 8” panoramic screen plus a couple of trim kits and a tool package.... but no mention of the factory head or any other options needed? (Yet in another video where you say to enter your VIN that’ll tell you “what’s available” for your car). So now I’m confused as to if my car isn’t •able• to be upgraded? Or y’all don’t have anything to offer or in stock for “what I need” to get Apple CarPlay working with a factory head (whatever the case, am def getting the Pano screen!! 👍🏻 amazing!) But I guess where I’m hung up is what “MMI” is and how or what all is needed to get the 2 systems talking to each other? Also (for me and my 2016 retrofit) I want this to look as factory as possible in the end. Can I just purchase a used 2019/2020 “3 Series” head and swap out screens or have the designs and electronics just changed too much in 4 years? (Obviously too whilst I’m willing to throw $700 at a screen and $1500+ at a used head) that’s about where I draw the line. Not looking to drop $5K either - but having had Apple Carplay in my last SUV (factory included - so this is super annoying at this level of car) yet like handing someone the cutest puppy ever🐶 I can’t see going without it now. Lastly (in this video) I don’t understand the references to the WiFi option/connection? as in this video it states “if it’s needed or not?”... I’m an audiophile and thought that “wired connections” were the only way to go to ensure quality sound?? I’m hoping this solution isn’t patching the 2 OS’s together via WiFi or Bluetooth? (Again, only 3 days into all this and haven’t pulled a factory stereo head since I was 16!) so don’t burn me at the stake here too fast for my ignorance. 🔥 I just want it done right and so it looks “factory” when all is said and done. PS: what does the “front camera” option give you? I mean is it purely a “click and view” type function? Or does it tie into the rear camera and give you a faux 360* view or offer any driving assistance with braking & such? Any chance it’s like some of the pickups out there pulling trailers offering an overhead shot? Just trying to decide if it’s worth adding or not? (Too) Thanks again

Apple CarPlay answer: Please let us dispel all the doubts and send the last 7 characters of your VIN to info@bimmer-tech.net. We'll double check if carplay can be installed in your car. This will also allow us to tell if panoramic screen can be installed and if it would seamlessly work with carplay mmi prime. MMI is an audio/video module with carlplay installed on it. Head unit answer: We sell NBT Evo ID5/6 retrofits. They come with new screens, carplay and many other features. Once we have your VIN, we'll know if it'd be compatible with your car and how much it would cost. Wired / wireless connections answer: Carplay in NBT Evo offers wireless connection only. Carplay mmi prime offers wireless and wired connection. If you checked your VIN here: www.bimmer-tech.net/products-bmw-carplay-mmi-retrofit-carplaymmi and it showed you that Carplay mmi prime is compatible with your car - you'll have an option to use wired and wireless connection (Wifi, not Bluetooth). Front camera answer: Front camera is engaged by pressing and holdng a certain button on your dash. Got this done in a trip to nyc for 200 bucks. Wireless and fullscreen. Boy oh boy if you guys cannot get to nyc or don't have any coders in your state just pay it is wayyyy well worth it.

none, Noi loss of quality at all. Only thing is a slight delay with forwarding, reversing, changing or listening to music via youtube. Everything work as is and works exactly how native wireless carplay should work. Nothing different at all.@@eeemuse

If you go to the dealer it’s 300$ to activate it. Or you can buy it trough the Bmw app. Why yours is 400$?

The issue might be caused by a few things: - bad USB stick - corrupted coding file - etc. If there are issues with the coding, please contact our support at support@bimmer-tech.net and they will do their best to help you troubleshoot and fix the issue.

Ridiculous that this stuff cost this much.
