I don't even skate anymore but I smash that like button every time before hitting play on the video. Something about Rad Rats no bullshit straight to the point approach to skateboard knowledge makes for a great watch when eating cereal

You should get back on board. Even if just to cruise. I think it's an edge that skaters have that most people don't have. Get in a habbit of skating a few times a week, just cruising around for exercise and take it into old age. Check out one of those Black Label square tail [shaped] decks and put a slightly bigger/softer wheel on it. It'll feel like a magic carpet ride. I'm skate street mostly but my favorite, comfortable board is an older verison of this. blacklabelskates.bigcartel.com/product/john-lucero-x2-8-88-x-32-5-deck.

Wow, that simple bit of advice to flick forward rather than off the side is really mind blowing to me. I've been trying it wrong the whole time and no other tutorial has mentioned this aha

Interesting side note about the parking lot that you're skating in: That was the first spot in foco where we had a skate park back in the mid 90s. It was just a couple metal quarter pipes and a pyramid sitting in that same parking lot! It was moved to Northside in '96 or '97 if I remember correctly. Thought you might find that cool. Great vids! We should skate sometime!

Started skating in 85. Natas and Hensley were my favorites. In 92 I quit skating but I still remember the last trick I learned. 360flip “treflip”. Doing that 30 years ago on those big bulky double kick decks weren’t easy. I had no KZread videos to learn from. Had to use magazines and VCR cassette tapes. Constantly rewinding tapes over and over again. Landed it twice and it was very satisfying after spending countless hours and shin bumps received. I’m 47 now and thinking hard about getting back into it.

Whoa! A real KZread Old-timer right here! I remember watching your vids way back in... 2010 I think. Didn't really get far with skateboarding, living in a rural area and all, but whichever of your videos I watched, I menaged to learn something. Checking now, after 8-9 years, I saw some of your older videos are still here! Pretty cool!

For anyone thats learning this, this is the video to watch. I learned these maybe 5/6 years ago and if I had a tutorial like this available when I was younger it would have helped make sense of the problems I was having while learning. Hes right about it being a hard and discouraging trick to learn, but its such a fun trick. Listen to Rad Rat and dont be afraid to step away, eventually itll click and youll end of landing your first one in a game of skate against a homie or something like that.

Thank you. I'll be giving it a go this week and report back. Been skating over 30 yrs and even though kickflips/ heelflips are staple for me I've just gotten frustrated and put these down after 1000 tries. I wonder if It's a common phenomenon to get this old having this trick on deck, then just skip these in order to stay consistent and not break up lines which Is the way I like to skate. Just take off from the house in a big circle and hit everything in my path.

I had a lot of tricks clean and started learning my steez when I was about 13, winter came and me and my friends skated flat ground in his garage. And I started learning tee flips, got the rotation but did the classic front foot catch and slam it on the ground with one foot because my back foot was always too scared to land on the board. I watched trickapedia Tre flip video over and over and over. And I found the secret, u watch them for an hour straight from different angles. And before u start trying, hype yourself up, I mean act like your trying to Tre flip el Toro, and keep telling yourself no matter what make that back foot land on the board, even if I shoot out and crack my head open leaking everywhere, I'm gonna at least try 100% with my all. Got my first Tre like your revert save lands lol and finally landed one, the next winter I was making videos of how many tre's I could land in a row, got to 7

Thanks for the tips. For some reason I keep getting recommended your old videos haha. I have a real problem with turning myself frontside and also the board going behind me. I have landed one so far but it took a good two hours. I've never had anyone recommend changing the front foot position to make the board go forward so can't wait to try that. Only tips I've had about that is 'lean back as much as you can''. I have the spin and scoop perfect, I just need it under me so I can land and roll away!

It's strange, I can almost get a switch tre every time but regular treflips just never work for me. might possibly have something to do with the fact that i learned nollie tre shuvs before regular tre shuvs, but overall nollie and switch feel really comfortable for tricks for me. I've considered trying to ride switch more but my balance needs some work for that, bee cruising for years goofy so moving to switch feels so unnatural even if the tricks themselves are easier

I can not watch too many tre flip tutorials. I am practicing this #¤%#% trick every day and I am making zero progress. I have a perfect flip, a "perfect" scoop...well I guess it's not perfect because I am landing in front of the board every frickin time! :-P The board does a nice 360 rotation, just too bad that I am not landing on it. :P Anyway, just need to practice I guess. I just hope that I will learn it before I die of old age or something. Nice tutorial! Thuuuumbs up! :-)

For both varial kickflips and tre flips I can't seem to get my front foot on. If I really focus and stop worrying about the back foot a can, but then the back foot is off. I just can't seem to get enough flick without ending up with my front foot so far back that I can't bring it back, especially since both those tricks tend to push the board a bit further away to my front side. Tips?

Your approach to 3flips are completely different to mine. I go Slightly open shoulders, toes gripping around the side of the board and it's initially like a popped pressure *where the toes hug the side of the board* with a little scoop (like a flick of the wrist kind)...front foot does minimal. The whole trick lies in the pressure style scoop. I don't mean to be rude at all because I'm a big fan of your channel and work. But to me it's quite clear you haven't really found the secret to 3flip, your execution is still very beginner style. Go watch the pros you'll notice what I mean when I say it's in the pressure of where the back toes grip the tail.
