I am Bulgarian first of all.The fucked up thing about that whole situation is that here we knew that the racism stuff was going to happen probably like a week earlier. Journalists were begging fans to not do anything racist. It was organised so it would benefit someone. That’s the reason those people left the stadium after the second time the referee stopped the game, they did the job and just left.

I had a friend who knew the leader of the ultras Cherno More in Varna, we went and stayed in the ultra stand amongst them holding there flags and chanting there chants as well as holding the smoke bombs and flares. I didn't feel one bit threatened within this stand apart from the opposing side (CSKA Sofia) because tensions were high. from my experience from living there for a long period and having relationships and friendships, I had many circumstances where Bulgarians were quite racist, xenophobic and homophobic but the nicer bunch out weighs the worse. Im English. I go to Bulgaria every year for my holidays. I go to Bankso which their is a ski resort and the Bulgarian people I have met have been so pleasant and welcoming. The stadium Theo is on about is Levski Sofia , who at the moment are struggling. Ludogorets are the best team in Bulgaria at the moment , the police are very corrupt though which I can agree with

He is referring to “Bulgarian Army” which is the stadium of CSKA-Sofia. The stadium of Levski is “Georgi Asparuhov” and is located in the outskirts of Sofia not in the city centre.

Funny that you didn’t hear the home fans make monkey chants or see the home fans do nazi salutes but there’s literal video evidence of it happening.. I can’t speak for whatever the england fans did as I only seen the game on TV but it does sound like something England fans would say so I’d say that’s defo true 🤷‍♀️

2:55 ‘Any tourists, hate it’...I’m sorry but this guy is making it out as if anyone from outside Bulgaria that goes there is hated and attacked. Absolute rubbish. Half my family is Bulgarian, and as an English guy I’ve received nothing but love and kind hospitality when I go there, whether I’m in Sofia or any other part of the country. It’s the same as any European country, most people are nice and there’s a minority that aren’t. Football across all of Europe unfortunately has hooliganism and racism, and that includes the UK. It’s so sad what happened during that game he’s talking about, but it’s in no way representative of Bulgaria as a country, the same way the EDL isn’t representative of England. I’m a huge fan of this podcast and have been for years now, but hearing this little bellend is the first time I’ve not enjoyed an episode.

I see many tourists both in Sofia or around the sea side or ski resorts. I don't see or hear attacks on any of them. Football is a whole different story. Quite a lot of footage of England fans in Italy attacking people... Drunken disorder does not represent a nation.
