Yes we need more people like her who care about others by telling others to do what she does. When she bypassed certification process which was made possible by sacrifice of field worker who got injured or killed to implement those rules. Person without technical background telling others to make submarine which was clearly made by other person.

The larger one, I remember seeing it for sale online somewhere. It's really fascinating. Fangtooth is cool too. It's based on a somewhat popular design.
Ex-Submarine Sailor. Qualified as a Helmsman/Planesman and Chief of the Watch. Loved being underwater and punching holes in the ocean. Thought about building my own sub but I live in central Illinois and not many places deep enough to dive a boat, unless Lake Michigan of course.

Designing a recreational submarine and then manufacturing it is one of my goals. I'm hoping to start up a company to sell them for tourism and scuba diving clubs and of course for the silver spooners! So this is quite interesting for myself and I am thinking that I might have to look these people up.

Having my own submarine is a lifelong fantasy! 10,000 leagues under the sea is what put the idea in my head. Seeing these little homemade submarines is inspiring! Maybe I'll make one.

Its just to make the initial seal on the hatch gasket. Once the sub starts to dive the pressure increases and seals the hatch even more. You wouldnt be able to open the hatch until the inner pressure equals with the depth you are at. You can flip the dawgs on the hatch with your finger once at depth.

@Jonny B most of what you've said is true & remember those hatches use screwed mechanisms. My argument is, bare hands won't have enough leverage to open 6 or 8 tabs that were previously hammered shut using a mallet in an emergency (even after pressure equalisation). She's dead if she doesn't have a scuba tank to buy her time to hummer away down there.

I am a mechanical engineer working at Pearl Harbor on Los Angeles and Virginia class submarines as well as a retired submariner. Loved your video and I am envious that you own your own subs. Bravo Zulu!!!

Bikini bottom resides at sea near the bikini atoll where US did nucklear tests in the cold war era, therefore there are all these weird sea-creatures like sponges that talk and cook burgers.
