in fudal Japan this was essential. but also for a time when samuri were persecuted. We have something similar in the uk with preist holes

Imagine the restraint of a man buying a ninja trick house and not giving in to the temptation of LARPing at every opportunity. I would've been giddy like a 5 year old inside a toy store.

I've heard that several Shiros also have creaking floorboards that'd act as an alarm system in case anyone was sneaking around at night.

A little bit of dust goes over the Intruders nose... *ACHOO!* The intruder sneezes... Random Guest: Bless you! The intruder: Thank you! Random Guest: *Opens eyes widely* Wait a Minute....

What an amazing setup! I hope the architect who designed this place and all its functions was paid handsomely for both their work and their silence!

This brought back so many met- when I was an exchange student in Sapporo 40 years ago our school trip included this amazing place which I have never forgotten

The Samurai mansion is truly like a ninja trick house that I have seen many times! Every ninja trick I see is really amazing!

The muichiro figure used in the hidden storage is hilarous. I wouldn’t imagine using the actual stairs on norm when there is so many hidden spaces that can be used. I will only be using the regular stairs when there is guests around and disappear when playing any games

I loved this, it strongly reminded me of Nijo Castle in Kyoto where it has the Nightingale Floor. I visited Nijo Castle on a very special trip to Japan with my daughter, as well as many other beautiful places in Tokyo, Kyoto and Nara. We talk about that visit with great enthusiasm and fondness. I will always be in debt to Minami san, Hiro and Mitsu who planned our trip of a lifetime. I love Japan so much and always feel at home there, having visited it for work about 30 times. I long to return
