I am amazed you got through the whole video without a single reference to O, Brother, Where art Thou?. A major plot point is "Pappy O'Daniels' flour-hour" seeking out "authentic" musicians to record/perform what they refer to as "old timey music". It's an amazing film (allegorical to Homer's Oddessey) with one of the greatest original film soundtracks of all time. And speaking as a former pharmacy tech, yeah, undigestible salts work quite well to clear out a GI tract through osmotic action. This is why people are prescribed two pints of magnesium citrate before having a colonoscopy. Granted, the notion that your colon needs to constantly be clean as a whistle, or any claims of the importance of flushing toxins or whatever are bunk, but if struck with constipation, those crystals will potentially set ya straight.

I grew up right next too Mineral Wells, TX and I never knew this history of the town before - very cool! Great video!

I currently live not too far from Mineral Wells, and I’ve only ever heard stories of the Baker Hotel. I had no idea Crazy’s story went this far beyond the mineral water I find at HEB.

I hear country Music and crystals and I immediately think ... "Ohhh it's meth."

Both hotels have been remodeled in the town, and HEB now sales crazy water. When pigs fly, is what every neigboring town has always said about the town having success. Fortunately, a lot of people from the metroplex have moved farther west and the town is much more lively than it has been in years. Anything can happen lol

Brinkley who, after spending a career as an unlicensed doctor putting goat testicles into the scrotums of all sorts of people, started a radio station in Mexico where he continued to advocate for goat ball infusion, but also was able to provide some of the first consistent country radio stations for people all over the hemisphere with his super high-watt station tower.

Wow, I’d often joke about (what I thought) an absurd product idea - dehydrated water you, rehydrate… with water. Here I learn they actually did it, and kickstarted country music’s commercial success while they were at it? Crazy indeed. Not to mention, I got a good laugh out of “organic mineral”. It’s good, in a sense, to know this kind of bunk has been around a long time. The stuff that guy said about “so-called ‘chronic ailments’” is eerily similar to what lots of grifters say about chronic illness today. Heck, they’re even hawking crystals, albeit not in the same way as modern crystal spiritualists! In the UK at around the same time there were “Bile Beans”, which also claimed to cure everything through mysterious means.

I'm usually excited to go to band practice for my bluegrass band Hot Dish, but now even more! Crazy Crystals -- For when you want To Go!

The first radio station to ever play country music was KFKB, which itself was a vehicle to just play ads for one "doctor" who had a treatment for virility that involved sewing goat testicles in human men. This "treatment" went on for a good decade, was wildly successful, and made the dude millions.

I was born and raised in Mineral Wells and still go over as frequently as possible to see my family. I was delighted to see this and not at all surprised about the crystals being horse laxative. And I know it may have been possible to boil the water down to crystals but sounds very tedious. They did everything with the water or tried to, anyway. There was an old pamphlet for The Baker Hotel (another hotel and spa in the town) I saw while filling in for someone at the Chamber of Commerce years ago. Basically most of the pamphlet was pushing the "high colonics" following a big dinner in the beautiful dining room. There is one thing I can't figure out, though. Who read that pamphlet and said "Well, forget Palm Springs! We are going to Mineral Wells for some high colonics!"?

@@PhilEdwardsInc I love how naturally it flows. I am trying to switch my videos more into going out and shooting. The last 40 or so videos were in a studio to make sure I feel comfortable on camera now the next step is to practise outside. Making documentaries down the road is the plan. Once again I am so glad you have your own channel your content on VOX was one of the many reasons I started my filmmaking journey. I hope you don't mind me asking all the questions once you grow big answering comments will get hard lol.
