@@bIehhh the only reason apple don’t use a usb connector in the iPhone is that lightning generate a lot of royalties for then. Anyone that wants to make a iPhone accessory needs to pay Apple to use lightning. It’s not that they don’t think of that or laziness it’s much more simple: money.

People don’t seem to understand that companies like Apple are BUSINESSES! They are in the market to nickel and dime everyone so they could make money! Proprietary items generate money.

@@AnotherYoubue more of a security reason. alot of people dont know what they are talking about...also, apparently. the lightning port is more waterproof than the usb-c..besides, they are trying to remove the ports and buttons. why pay a licence that you wont even use...

@@3dprintergobrr he made his usb c video two years ago. He's definitely given up on the project. There is a clear difference between a hobbyist (strange parts) and Kenny, who studies and seeks to understand even the minute details of silicon.

When apple finally put a usb c port on an iPhone, they won't be able to claim that it's the "first ever iPhone with a usb c port" because some guy on KZread beat them to it. But I guess the apple slogan "think different." applies to Tim Cook's perception of "first"

@@nxet2669 no, in fact nothing he's doing would have anything really to do with software engineering. The fact that I brought up my profession is to say that as someone who has to solve complex problems on a daily basis, I am really impressed at how he tackled this problem.

@@nxet2669 I don't think there is any particular degree that you can get that will set you up to be able to do this. However to understand basics, I reckon electrical engineering would be a good place to start .

@Mind Of Virtuoso well if he does it on an iPhone 6s (which has a lot of space inside of it) he’ll have one that is still receiving software updates as well. And he’ll only need one chip.

orientation detection should be easy enough to implement- all you’d need is a comparator to detect which cc pin has a higher voltage, and an analog switch. hope you’ve still got that jank setup for testing? 😁 if i could afford a new iphone (stuck on a 6) i would totally have a go at soldering up one of these, looks like fun.
