i stayed outta the bankers fodder club , ( service ) and i had waaaaaaaay more experiences, and adventures and FUN than 98% of those i know who were in the service

I remember the first time I saw a hydrafoil it was 1968 and I was stationed @ Lymun Barracks Hong Kong I used to watch the hydrafoil ferries go between Hong Kong & Macou, I was absolutely fascinated having never seen anything like them before.
It's probably a bit late to call them revolutionary when they have been used as fast day trip boats carrying about 300 people for the last 40 years or so in Australia.
Incat 45 was commissioned into the Royal Australian Navy as HMAS Jervis Bay between 1999 and 2000. Over this time, she made 107 trips between Darwin and Timor Leste (then known as East Timor), shipping 20,000 passengers, 430 vehicles and 5,600 tonnes of freight, becoming known as the "Dili Express.” Running the Jervis Bay proved more efficient than using air transport to move materiel to and from Timor Leste with the higher sailing speed averaging 45 kt, meaning she could turn around a payload faster than multiple C-130 Hercules flights for an equivalent load. Incat 45 is now based in Greece and is used as a high-speed ferry by Seajets.

Eventually, technology will probably allow multiple dynamic hydrofoils for near immediate agility.

When Indonesia invaded East Timor, Australia loaded up an Incat boat and flew into East Timor and backed up to the wharf and spat out a bunch of Armoured Vehicles. Indonesia went home. USA saw this and said "we want one of them" but Australia had to make them in the USA.

Now owned by Greek company Sea Jet, that also own the hull that was the HMAS Jervis Bay.

Check your history, the concept for the Navy was born in the Army, Look up the HSV-X1. The ship was leased by the Army for a time period (2-3 years). The Army turned the program over to the Navy.

Not all catamarans have symmetrical hulls. There are asymmetrical hull catamarans (one hull narrower) that allow the use of one engine. This greatly increases their fuel efficiency.

Water travels through a tunnel that houses the prop. The water exits the hull via what is called a bucket that changes the direction of the flow to make thrust go forward, back left or right as required

It looks like a floating city
Unfortunately the US Navy LCS Trimaran design has been a failure due to metal fatigue huge causing cracks to appear among many other things as these Aluminium hulls cannot operate on open seas for prolonged periods. It seems they are fine for ferries and vessels operating in shallow waters all the time just not large open bodies of water where warships tend to be when on deployment. I think if their hulls had been made from steel, they'd likely not be in the process of being decommissioned by the Navy.

Yeah those Aluminium hulls don't provide survivability, ergo flashback to the Falklands in 1982 when some Royal Navy vessels whose hull was Steel but the higher up structure was Aluminium were hit with bombs or missiles and went up in flames so fast. The Royal Navy abandoned that method of construction immediately having learnt a hard lesson.

Yet somehow they keep ordering them. Also the first few are not being decommissioned for exactly the reasons you state. There are other factors like cost to upgrade to the current configuration they want versus converting them to training ships. The ships are not really designed for open ocean for long periods. That why they are called LITTORAL combat ships. Theres alot of misinformation out there that people suck in and regurgitate.

They haven’t made a navel vessel for years. Austal out of Perth is the parent company of Austal USA, where the make ships for the USA Navy. The are liked so much by the USA they have expanded to steel ships of various designs for their Navy.

Is not versa-till either, it’s versa-tile. It’s not Eye-ran or Eye-raq either. For years it’s e.g. Two thousand and one, not Two-thousand-one. But the Yanks have commandeered many pronunciations recently.

'paying the salaries'?,... That has to be the dumbest comment on the internet today. Why would you even think that about a Private Company that has world wide contracts? The US ordered vessels are a small number out of the total built by InCat.

Universal health care would have to be a government project, which would raise every citizen’s taxes. It would drastically raise the cost of government for everyone! This catamaran-hulled work vessel was NOT built with government funds, but with private monies put up by civilian contractors to develop this working platform to be used on the open ocean. Your comment/criticism was totally baseless and uninformed!
