How the same Dallas play bewildered the Wolves defense

Спорт

How did Dallas comeback in the 4th? Why was Luka on an island on the last play? This watch along reaction film breakdown details what the Mavs offense ran over and over down the stretch, why the Wolves defense is having a hard time stopping, Anthony Edwards decision-making, Rudy Gobert's defensive coverages and more.

Minnesota against Phoenix and Denver was disciplined and locked in and their effort level was astronomical Luka and Kyrie are that good but Minnesota is letting them get whatever they want. Go watch how LA and OKC defended them. Yeah they still made shots obviously that those defenses were actively taking things away whereas Minnesota is playing like it's a back-to-back against Detroit in February.

Luka and Kyrie are just so much better ball handlers than what the Suns/Nuggets have, they get to the rim and have so many options. You have double-penetration threats from THE two best finishers in the league, and both are capable of being phenomenal playmakers as well. Luka is a generational talent who has the ability to fake out defenders with potential lobs, assists, drives, kickouts, or stepback 3s. Dallas is also experienced and unphased by huge leads, so they'll keep attacking you the full 48 minutes until they steal the game. You did not face these challenges in Phoenix or Denver.

@aceloco817 given the circumstances, Dallad is the best place for him to be. Kyrie will retire a Mav, Luka is gonna sign that max contract, Gafford is perfect as an on court mentor while he has Tyson Chandler off the court. Plus he's been given nearly as much minutes as you could want in a rookie season and is now shining in the playoffs. For once since the 2011 season, the Mavs just hapoen to have the right mix of players at the right time. Thing about it is, every player at every position is younger than that championship team if ai'm nit mistaken and I'd argue, all are more talented at their position. Kyrie Irving/Jason Kidd, Jason Terry, Caron Butler/Derrick Jones Jr, Shawn Marion/ PJ Washington Jr, Dirk/Luka, Tyson Chandler/DLive n Gafford. The talent of our team matches uo with the talent of any team in the NBA. Celtics may give us a little bit of problems, but I got Mavs in 6 or 7. This was probably in my top 5 Mavs playoff games of all time. What a classic game. Right up there with game 2 comeback of the 2011 finals, Dirk's crazy and-1 at the end of the Spurs series in 2006, and Luka dominating the Suns in game 7. It seems like there have been a huge number of comebacks this playoffs so far. Is there any data about all time playoff comebacks in a single season? I feel like this year must be up there.

yes I agree, there is a guy in LA that plays with modern shaq with defense plus a tailor made roster, his game impacts winning, he is consistently in the play in and he can afford to pad his stats in the 4th and freeze out teammates, he is a point forward you know. plus there is that guy in philly, 7 foot but takes 6 3s per game plus 50 FTs, he also plays like 30 games per year (not his fault that he is injury prone, but durability is ability) and he is the MVP, also that guy in boston that plays on an all star roster, very impactful when it comes to winning. its those euro guys in denver and dallas that are stat padders, their games dont impact winning, even though one of them won a championship with no all stars on his team while averaging a super efficient triple double and the other one was giving work to kawhi and george as a 20 year old, beat the shit out of the 1st seed in the west that had paul and booker on it with dwight powell as a prominent teammate. they are also not jacked so that means that they play bad defense.
