You're 100% right. Look at Ronaldo. He probably wasn't the most naturally gifted player but he was known for being the first to arrive at training and the last one to leave. Talent is meaningless if you don't have the right mindframe and dedication.

Everytime I hear how awesome Balotelli was in Euro 2012 I feel like crying.

I had him in my team on pro evolution soccer 2015. He was a second striker that started off at 78. But if you used him as a AMF, his stats went up to 83. He was 34 at the time and at the end of his career.

He did it his way! Sure, he could have "polished" his behavior and make more money, but he was having fun playing the game he loved. He still got paid and delivered when he had too!!

didnt realise he actually played for anyone after he was done with AC Milan. Anyway, "downfall" is a bit strong a word considering he retired at 34 or so. And assuming he has managed to hold on to much of the fortune he made as a player, plus he's married and has lots of friends, hes done brilliantly for himself really. At most you could say he didnt reach the heights of superstardom that the likes of Baggio, Beckham and CR7 did.

@@pse161 He grew up in poor neighborhoods of a South Italy big city, Bari. Some places are still bad now, let alone in the 80s. People were poor, most of them were either small street criminals or Sacra Corona Unita (Apulia's branch of Mafia) associates. So it's no surprise that Cassano, beside his amazing football talent, had nothing much more. Imagine giving some true money to someone who grew up in such a place. No way you keep your head clear and stable.

Cassano was amazing, since his first match till the last! Fantantonio was his alias, a great man.

He and Balotelli have a couple of things in common. 1. they're talented 2. they're italian and 3. they're both immature.

Let's be honest man management is essential and key with certain players and Capello lacked man management to his and his players detriment. Cassano played for more global clubs than most players ever.

Cassano was a technically gifted player.... he was not a yes man , and this made his football career difficult whenever he goes!

However, imagine if he somehow ended up at Utd or Arsenal with Fergie and Wenger. Those two managed to get the best out of Nasri and Ronaldo, the latter of whom would probably have failed if he didn't have a good role model, and the former, who left Arsenal too early and his bad habits eventually came back to bite him.

And, ironically, he's now actually making a weekly podcast on Twitch in which he constantly talks shit about players such as Barella and Jorginho calling them overrated. What a clown...

It's uncorrect Marcello Lippi ignored him for his poor perfomances. Lippi excluded him early in 2004, after euro competition, when Cassano was simply the best italian player. That's because Cassano choice Rome instead of Juventus. Everyone in Italy knows it: Lippi and his son Davide had their main business in football players market, as we call it in Italy. What's absolutely absurd is the most pure italian talent played his first world cup at 32, because of dirty decisions of italian football establishment...

Hello, that is not Ronaldo Nazario R9, that is Adriano, an amazing Brazilian striker that burned himself in a much worse fashion than Cassano and at a younger age. He lives now in a Favela in Brazil, a very poor sort of neighborhood that is common in that country.

Cassano had more potential than R9. He could create goals from nowhere and play with the keepers. The difference is that R9 used his full potential to become one of the best strikers in the history and probably the best in the last 25 years, while Cassano wasted it all. The sad part is that he never got injuried like R9 or never had personal issues like Adriano. His downfall came because of his childlike mindset.

Cassanos home was at Milan. I´ve honestly never seen him so happy as he was when was there. HIm and Ibra really bonded aswell being called "Batman & Robin" they had awesome chemistry. I felt so bad for him when Ibra left for OSG and he really wanted to leave Milan :( breaks my heart.

Disagree his home was with Milan. As he said himself, he should have never left Roma. Consider how close Totti took them to more titles, finishing second a ridiclious number of times over the poast 2 decades. He needed help in the form of another genius. Roma missed out on 4 or 5 titles within a few points but were the best football team in Italy in many of those seasons. Cassano would have been the tipping point to win. It would have been a very different story for Roma with multiple titles. Totti and Cassano chemistry was unmatched.

I think Spain were European Champions in the 1960s when Real were massive. They and the Soviet Union won it before Italy in 1968. Spain and the Soviets 1960 or 1964 between them, can't remember.

Was one of my favorite players. he would amaze me with how he made the ball look like it was a magnet to hit feet. he was so fun to watch. but fame and his temper was his downfall. he could of been one of the greats

I dont blame them. I dont know how i would have reacted to the transition from poverty and the streets to fame and riches. Without any father figure. These new young players (Mbappe, Neymar, Halland......) they learn from these stories but the Cassanos had no blue print to follow. Maradona was all that but he is considered by some to be the greatest of all time. In Basketball there is Dennis Rodman. He would club till late but the next day in the game he would out peform everyone

Good video! Cassano really was an amazing talent and the best player Francesco Totti ever played with. You do make some research-mistakes though. 1. Maybe 2009/10 was the first time Sampdoria qualified for the Champions League, but that’s a bit misleading since they played the European Cup-final in 1992 (before it was called ”Champions League”) 2. Italy did not take ”a vital point” against Sweden in Euro 2004. That late Swedish equalizer cost Italy their qualification for the quarterfinals. 3. Spain’s Euro 2012 win was their third.

Downfall? Where/How exactly? Played for some of the biggest teams in the world, scored over 100 goals in the Serie A, represented his country, loads of cash.

"Florentino Pérez gave him his debut....." Florentino was the president, not the coach.

Was an immense talent. Just racked a disciprine.
