How the Knicks' terrible leadership turned a contender into 20 years of misery

Спорт

Two important things happened to the mighty New York Knicks in 1999: First, after years of contending and one very strange regular season, the 8th-seeded Knicks made an incredible run to the NBA Finals. Second, noted rich person James Dolan inherited control of the team.
What seemed like the dawn of another prosperous era was very much not that. After failing to match their '99 run the following season, the Knicks made a foolish, desperate trade to rid themselves of superstar Patrick Ewing. Thus began a pattern of horrid leadership on Dolan's dime: 20 years of patching holes, refusing to rebuild, falling short of expectations, courting scandal, and losing. So much losing.
This is the tale of how THE KNICKS became ... the Knicks. This is a collapse.

randy lehi hey clown, Madison Square Garden is a tourist attraction when people come to NY. It’s also a place that corporations take clients to schmooze. Even if most fans boycotted the arena would still be filled because it has appeal outside of being a Knicks fan.

I think it's because of the amount of media attention they receive. Over the last 5 to 8 years, there have been more deserving teams to discuss basketball wise. Yet, the Knicks always get time in the spotlight. Because of NYC. For example, all this year before free agency we heard how the Knicks were gonna get Kyrie+KD. But, why would they want to go there? It makes no basketball sense ,given the trash management and poor teammates, when's theres other more deserving teams.

  • @henrymanzano9168

@@Charlie-wl2qt And yes,I do see your point and agree with you. It's scandalous how teams like the Raptors,76ers, and Bucks get so little time in the spotlight. You would also have to mention the Brooklyn Nets because of the slow but steady success they've been building on,and the additions of Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant,as well as the Clippers rise and addition of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. The casual fan misses out on lots of compelling stories because of media bias. That said, the best way for a team that isn't as popular to get fans and attention is to win. MAKE them notice.
