Most taxis in Dubai are Camry. A taxi driver once told me, the taxi company keeps Camry until up to 500k kilometers and sell them to different african countries where they use them again as taxis for another 500k or so kilometers. Amazing

Same in Switzerland. But the "go-to" car for taxi drivers are Lexuses. The RX400 is incredibly popular amongst taxi drivers, they are doing millions of kilometers with them. Yes, the Mercs E-class are solidly implanted right now, but there always was a big love of the taxis for the japanese L. And the Camry, that was long discontinued in our market, is now, slowly, increasing his share amongst them too. It's an incredible testimony when your cars are so loved by professionals all around the world for their dependability.

Older camrys are more reliable. Modern ones not so much. The more electronics and complex technology automakers use, the more unreliable they will get, and the more issues you will have to face with time. Amount of chips and wiring around modern cars is way more than it was 10 years ago.

Currently driving a 98 camry le with 160k Miles, nothing rattles inside, everything works and still original, just upgraded the stereo to a Bluetooth capable, remote starter and traffic camara, i barely be at the shop, just to change oil and brakes .. .. why American made created that myth that people only want to drive SUV?? BC of pure Greed. They need to make it to the next quarter to please shareholders. So why sell cheaply made American sedan when we can sell cheaply made SUV and bc of the size and weight we can justify the price !! Just analize that and you will see is not far fetched The Japanese have a different mindset when it comes to quality and manufactur if not they wouldn't be selling sedans like hotcakes, when it comes to Sedans all I see on the streets are Sedans made by Honda, Toyota Nissan Subaru Mazda, BMW Benz Audi everywhere..

If the car is that good, why spend more money than you have to? 40 years of a proven track record should be sufficient enough evidence that the car will last, so why not lower the warranty. But people still have the option to by an extended warranty for peace of mind, so in a sense Toyota is profiting off of people's fear. But if you want a awesome warranty, there's always Kia.

Same with European cars. Whenever I see someone driving a BMW, I just assume they’re some deadbeat living paycheck-to-paycheck with a mountain of unpaid loans. Not all American cars are bad. I’d say the Ford Crown Victoria and *some* of the Tesla models are good purchases. I bought my Camry XLE in 2010 and it still feels new in 2020. I’m never gonna buy another car again because I don’t need to.

I don’t even know why people want fast cars. First of all, they’re going to be the ones who drive like a**holes on the road. Second, they’ll waste more fuel. Third, insurance cost, and more. If you want to feel speed, go to a racetrack. If you want to shoot 500 rounds out of a machine gun, keep it in the gun range.

I have a 2020 Camry. I've been told it looks really sporty by a friend and I have to agree. The 2020 design just looks sporty and aggressive.

Honestly, I absolutely love the look of the new generation Toyota camry, it doesn't look like an "economy" sedan at all and has a rather sporty & high-end look to it

Same. I had an 86 twin. Which was reliable until i mildly modified it with a turbocharger kit. The motor was kicking strong but it was little issues like hoses and leaking oil. I sold it and got a camry. It's not as fun but i love it because i can take it all over town without worrying about it

Brutal indeed. But unlike most other cars, Camrys can take it. Siennas can take it. *corollas* can take it. Thats why cab companies love them. They are the cheapest to operate. Its perplexing that they arent more common in commercial use.

I always wanted one since seeing the 06-11 model around 2008. Loved the styling! 11 years later I finally got one, a 2010 2.4 GL. Love it. Reliabiity and comfort are most important to me so fits the bill perfectly.

Some of the statements in video aren't even laughable or controversial, they are just plain stupid. Camry never was a boring car, a lot of people still want to buy it (check the same sale numbers you provide) and it's not going anywhere neither in this decade, nor in next to come. Despite the title, this video cannot make its point but rather keeps the pedaling of the SUV BS. The fact that casual majority in US felt for SUV trend (which are boring AF!) doesn't mean that sedans are dying. You know, there's still a bit of other world outside of US, as well as a lot of people inside, that have their own head and taste and would never trade an experience and engagement of driving a sedan for the garbage SUV, just because it's popular.

I must be an odd customer, I find the Camry line to be one of the most attractive vehicles on the market solely because of that reliability and to a certain extent their 'muted' appearance. As someone with a heavy foot, having a vehicle which does not draw attention can be a blessing.

In 1983 I spotted a beautiful first year, first generation Camry in America and instantly fell in love with the sedan. In February 1984 I started test drives the Camry against Honda Accord, Nissan Stanza, Mazda 626 but none of those even come close to the ultra modern Camry. Honda Accord was still using carburetor at the time. After 300k miles in 15 years, the 1983 Camry was still running flawlessly like new at trade in time. Today all my college kids are driving Camry and they all have near 200K miles without any major issues. None of them ever needed rebuilding anything. No wonder Camry is the number one selling sedan for almost a quarter of a century and still selling strong in weak sedan market. Seeing videos of ISIS is what convinced me to buy a Toyota! LOL

After countless issues with the American car I had, I was tired of spending more money on repairs than the car was worth so I sold it, and I bought a Camry. I always say, it’s no racer and it may be somewhat boring, but it’ll never stop running. It’s one of the few cars that comes with reliability as standard.

Whoever is doing these new CNBC mini-documentaries deserves multiple raises. I never watched anything from CNBC before and now i cant get enough.

The boring Camry? There’s nothing boring about a reliable car.

We still have our brand new dealer bought 2004 Toyota Camry. It has never let us down even at its old age of 102,000 miles in LA. The money saved we put in the market. A better investment than a new car every 5 years. We're not older just wiser ones in our 40's And indeed! We have *nobody* to impress. Like posers that live paycheck to paycheck but have to have the fanciest car of the year.

@@kylemontano228 Slow stop-and-go traffic combined with a lot of idling and city commutes is much more punishing to a car than say highway driving. 102,000 in LA traffic may as well be 300,000 on the highway.

One word. Reliability. We had a 1990 Camry for about 10 years before we traded it in for the new RAV4. In those 10 years the only thing that failed in it's later years was it's battery which was understandable due to it's age but easy to replace. Never had any engine problems with the car at all. Did yearly maintenance, oil change, tire rotation, fluids, etc.... ran without a problem.

I still own a 1987 Toyota Camry with 241,000 miles with the original engine and 5-speed manual transaxle. I absolutely love this car. While its styling may not have turned heads in 1987, it’s more visible now since it clashes with all of the soulless crossovers on the road.

The Camry is potable water, nobody notices it, until the day it doesn't work.

My Aunt had a 1998 Toyota Camry for 20 years. And my 2002 Toyota Camry is still going pretty well. Camrys last for a very long time I still see a lot of older ones on the road.

Bought a Camry in 2011. 125K Kms. The only mechanical fault I had so far is that my windshield washer motor stopped working, one of my charging ports got messed up. Also, I have done 90% of the periodical service in an authorized Toyota service center. Even though a bit costly, I think it helped to prolonged the car's life.

I just got a used 2019 Camry XSE. I saw it and loved the design so they definitely knew what they were doing with the newer redesign in 2017.

Toyota so reliable that even ISIS uses them as Tanks.

Drivers want their cars to have souls. Others just want something thats runs quietly and without fuss.

We just bought a 2020 Camry SE, 2.5L I4 and 8 speed automatic. The acceleration for this base model surprises me, and it has many great features. It is an excellent drive. I actually don't like the change in exterior design, besides the alloy wheels, but I spend more time inside of it than looking at the outside.

I just had to get rid of my first car, Toyota Aurion (6 cylinder Camry pretty much). I took it from 140000km to 398000km serviced it 7 times in 9 years.... Love that car.

Has been my favorite car since I was a kid... had a 1993 one that was my first car.. it had 194,000 miles when i got it, kept it for 5 years, had about 310,000 miles when i got rid of it, only changed the alternator (a few times) and that was pretty much the extend of the repairs.... after that got a 2007 Camry, had 45,000 miles... now, 7 years later it has about 160,000 miles an the only thing had change on that car is (you guess it) the alternator [and of course a roll bearing here, a control arm there for both, tires brakes obviously and the screen of the radio went on the 2007 that was warranty replaced]. It is comfortable and agile and fast enough for everyday driving. I cannot quite point out this "boring" image that some have cast upon it... it is not more boring or engaging than an Accord, Malibu, Fusion, Legacy.... and the V6 3.5 has about 270 hp... i don't know what else people want from it???? Some even take then SE and XSE to track days and they say they have a blast!!!

Just bought a 2019 Camry SE. amazing car. Very fuel efficient nearly 50 mpg on highway driving 70 mph, near luxury interior. Even though it's a large car handles like a sports car. Great acceleration for a very fuel efficient car, about 7.6 seconds to 60

I wished I bought a Camry instead of GM chevy malibu. Now I'm paying 5 gran to fix broken pistons on the Malibu. DO NOT BUY AMERICAN BRANDS!!!! They won't last past 60K miles or 4 years.

After 6 F-150's each reaching over 170k miles each, used in the oil field and travel I have replaced a water pump and front differential. I have been left on the side of the road 2x by two different Tacomas (both under 100K) and once by a Ram 1500 (under 80K). I run 80k miles a year for work and work in very remote areas so I need a vehicle that just runs and I haven't had luck with the legendary Tacoma. Luck of the draw I guess.

Americans are the last ones to cry about fuel prices 😂 A Liter of normal Gas here in Germany (here it‘s 95 octane ) cost back then in 2012 up to 1,80€ , the equivalent to ~7,50 Dollars for a Gallon of gas ! No wonder that small cars , diesels , hybrids are the best sellers in our country , people will laugh at you here when buying a gas powered big SUV 😂

I bought a 2008 salvaged Camry LE in 2017 with 144,000 miles because I was willing to trust the fact that it’s a reliable car. Now almost 6 years later the car has 223,000 miles and It’s still going strong with minimal maintainance, I need to upgrade a few things on it but overall it gets me where I need to go as long as the oil is clean and the tank has gas. My next car is most likely going to be a 2018 Camry or something like that whenever it’s time to upgrade. I love my Camry it’s been through so much!

I build them everyday in Georgetown, KY. Attention to detail and the systems they have in place is what keeps it going. Wait till the AWD Camry comes out, we just started building them.

@R Del Silva Toyota only makes V6. There's little need to add more cylinders if you can make the existing ones larger. The only advantage V8 have is sounding better.

My 2012 Camry Hybrid has never had any reliability issues. It does have a quirky fuel guage that doesn't go back up after refueling if I've let it run down too low, but a quiet and powerful enough car for my use. Hybrid gives mileage equivalent of a small hatchback, and I actually LOVE the design. Never seen anything better looking in its class and age.

I learned my lesson on never buying a BMW ever again. My family's 2010 Toyota 4Runner runs like a champ while my 2018 BMW 440i likes to stay in the shop.

@Cuthbert Bracegirdle It's not a lot faster at all. The ES 350 has 1 more HP than the V6 Camry and does 0-60 in 6.6 seconds. The Camry does 0-60 in 5.7 seconds and only has 301 hp.

I have had a 1993 Dodge Intrepid(160,000 miles), 2001 Chrysler Sebring(155,000 miles), 2008 Ponitac G6(200,000miles), and now have a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox(needed a tow vehicle). The midsize sedan was a popular size car because it was big enough to be comfortable(compared to a small or compact), and small enough to be good on gas mileage. I would have bought an SUV sooner, but I needed better gas mileage. Today's SUV's get the same or better mileage than the sedans of a decade ago. The Camrys and Accords have been so good over the years, the other car makers could not compete with them. Today's SUV/crossovers are really just big cars with some SUV features. A true SUV is an old Jeep Cherokee, old Dodge Durangos, old Chevy Trailblazers, vehicles built on a truck frame. I like my Equinox so far. I like the capabilities, but the fit and finish could be better(hood is starting to rust). GM historically has been the cheapest and easiest to fix if something does go wrong. A car is only as good as the person who takes care of it. The most important thing is changing the oil. Do it religiously every 5000miles(synthetic), or every 3000 miles(conventional). Ignore the oil life monitor and change it every 5000 miles when you rotate your tires. If your car is turbocharged I would still do it every 3000 miles since oil can be lost due to evaporation, and those engines run hot. My next vehicle may be a Toyota. I have had many people tell me they have had them last 200,000-300,000 miles.

I'm at 225,000 miles on a 2004 Camry...only a couple of trips to the mechanic but nothing major!

The older Camrys are the best ones though. The Camry’s in the 90’s were bullet proof. You still see tons of them on the road today

My primary school principal drove a 2005 Camry, and we used to clown it as kids , parked next to Mercs and Beemers , I'm 25 now, and that thing is still running stress free. All of a sudden, Toyota is better than the germans to me.

I have a 2001 v6 Camry with 200k plus miles and a injen intake it also came with a front and back disc brake system that year, jbl speakers, automatic lights and leather seats with a powered driver seat runs like a champ 😭 bought it used..

Back in 1984 I purchased the 1984 Camry over the Honda Accord and the Mazda 626, little that I knew I drove past 300k miles effortlessly. All of my college age kids are now driving Camry to school.the amazing sedan with history.

The Camry generation that came out back in 2018 is their best looking Camry yet especially with the updates it got for 2020 & 2021 with AWD & the XLE/ XSE AWD trims when they're well-equipped or fully-loaded. They made those trims of the Camry more luxurious with the right package that gives it a head-up display, ventilated (aka cooled) front seats, a heated steering wheel, the panoramic sunroof, the two-ton paint options, the available JBL premium audio system. I never considered the Cnary before the 2020/2021 models. They are very impressive vehicles in their top-spec configurations now

I bought my 2007 Camry brand new with 10 miles and plastic wrap throughout in June 2006. It currently has 219,000 miles with the original engine and transmission. I had to replace the rear shocks last year, otherwise I have had no significant maintenance issues. I will keep driving it until the wheels fall off(or the engine/trans gives out 😉) Thanks for sharing this video.

2019 Ruby Red Flair Camry LE owner and I love it! I travel A LOT- nearly 50k miles in just over a year- and this car still responds like day one. Oil change every 10k miles and tire rotation every 5k miles. Other than that, I’ve fuel injection flush at 45k. Again, this thing operates like day one. Thanks you Toyota for a engineering marvel.

@@itz.ant07 i bought a 97 accord last year and it ran in mint condition. it was a car for a woman and the husband kept its maintenance. American car is prone to too many problems, with or without maintenance.

@guy proulx your right, hence why most Americans companies are buying back their own stocks and shares to inflate their market value (vs building better cars to start with)

@guy proulx 450k on my grandpa's Cadillac Cadillac doing maintenance on time most people forget to do oil on time. American built tough

I had an 2019 white body black roof , red interiror , i think it look dam good , it drive good too

Add the blackout emblems and the illuminated door silla and it’s super stylish

my 2014 camry just hit 207K miles. I bought it new and I love it.

i have a 2020 corolla, local travel is part of my job and i've put almost 200k kms on it with regular maintenance and have had no repairs just brake pads, wiper blades and tires since i bought it new 32 months ago
