How tax dodging and corporate secrecy found a home in Delaware: Podcast with Hal Weitzman

How tax dodging and corporate secrecy found a home in Delaware, with Hal Weitzman: Scholar examines how the wealthy, global corporations exploit tax loopholes in the tiny U.S. state.
When you think about corporate secrecy, nefarious shell companies and conspiratorial tax dodging, the state of Delaware probably doesn’t come to mind. We often think of exotic places like Panama or Bermuda, but the research of University of Chicago Adjunct Professor Hal Weitzman shows how it’s all happening right here in the United States.
In his new book, What’s The Matter With Delaware?, Weitzman goes down the complex Delaware rabbit hole to discover how this tiny U.S. state became the incorporation capital of the world-uncovering everything from criminal conspiracies to wealthy tax avoidance to political dark money.

Hal Weitzman's Book is really fascinating, I'm a political junkie member of the LWV. Indivisible, and American Promise, this group is "trying to get money out of politics and overturn Citizens United" .I also follow DelCog's "DE Coalition for Open Government". I Live in Delaware and have for 50 years. I know the people talked about in the book and I thought i knew how things worked and why, BUT this book is a true eye-opener even for issues that are right under your nose. I look forward to seeing Hal on Sept 21st. on our local DelCog Virtual meeting Zoom. Thank YOU, Hal.
