Swizz was still in school after a lot of these songs dropped. We went to an alternative High School and i remember riding the Marta w/ him and Yung Won talking about making music w/ X and Jay-Z and ppl was laughing when claimed producer credit. He left for a few weeks came back talked to the teachers and wasn't seen again....that is until Eve 1st video single dropped showcasing Swizzy loud and clear. Proud for all your accomplishments.

@@bjvu9460 Much of Swizz's keyboard-based beats were cheesy and basic. All the best beats on the classic It's Dark and Hell is Hot were produced by Dame Grease and PK, and certainly Flesh of My Flesh would've been a better album if it had more Dame Grease/PK type production instead of Swizz. The same is true for the Ruff Ryders compilation albums, and especially the Drag-On album. Swizz really ruined that Drag-On album, which is unfortunate because Drag-On had an interesting style. The thing is, keyboard beats were beginning to become more popular at that point in time, with Mannie Fresh, The Neptunes, and Timbaland gaining popularity. Sample-based beats stopped being popular for a few years until Jay-Z's Blueprint in 2001. So, since Dame Grease beats were more sample-based and grimey, he wasn't nearly as popular or in-demand as Swizz. I do give Swizz credit for making all those club songs which made X a bigger household name, but I personally never liked most of those joints. I'll take "Stop Being Greedy" over "Party Up" any day.

A big thing you don't really hear in a lot of hip hop documentaries and even less concerning things from the city itself is that Atlanta was really an integral crockpot and weight station for an enormous chunk of hip hop. You'd never know that from listening to the radio there now, but it really was the epicenter for a lot of hip hop artist from all over the country, and it seems like very few people highlight that. Either way I'm loving this documentary.

@@ericyoung3981 it’s not being scared it’s being smart. Think about what they said...Swizz had never made a beat and Ruff Ryders was already on 🔥 with their beats. After they “taught” Swizz, he became the face of beats for Ruff Ryders, getting the lions share of royalties and external opportunities with other artists. They literally took millions from their pockets and put it in Swizz pockets. It just wasn’t a smart move especially since Swizz was a family member of the label owners. This is the 1st time I’ve even heard of these dudes and that’s a travesty.

Your work should speak for itself, in my opinion if you won't train someone it shows how insecure you are at what you do* and what value you hold as an employee.

@@musicbelowzero2949 I’m almost sure you’re a younger man than me so I’m not going to argue with you. I’ll just say...I hope you listen to the sound advice I’ve provided in this post. The world and especially corporate America are not a meritocracy. You can actually be the best worker and get let go because the manager wants his/her friend to have a job. I was recently working with a Recruiter who was at a company for 9 years. The company hired a junior Recruiter straight out of college (no experience) and asked my colleague to train her. I told her not to. She did anyway. 6 months later, she was “layed-off” and the younger Recruiter had her job. They pay the younger Recruiter half her salary so the company wins. The young Recruiter has a job so she wins. My friend who was nice enough to train/teach her a skill she didn’t have lost her job during a pandemic. She currently has a lower level role, making less money at her new job. Don’t train/teach people at work. It won’t end well. Think about your logic. They’re asking you to train/teach the person because they know you’re good at what you do so it has nothing to with insecurity about your performance at work. It’s about being smart and not training someone to replace you.
