    When I lift heavy weight I compare myself to other young males. Top 5% means nothing when you realize that’s accounting for women, teenagers, older people, and a lot of people in general who don’t have access to proper nutrition or good gym equipment. Not to sound like a negative hater 😂 I just think we should be more aware when we hear “top 5% of lifters”. For example, only a small percentage of the world benching 225 sounds cool until you realize most 17 year olds on their varsity football team who have access to a gym can rep that a few times lol

    @@GRedb If you understood how levers work you'd realize this is a bullshit excuse. Different builds have different advantages but having long arms doesn't magically make you weaker. The RoM excuse is bad too. I had a significantly higher conventional deadlift than sumo deadlift despite the small RoM. This also applied to close grip elbow tucked bench vs wide grip. There are different strength requirements for each RoM. I hit 585 conv deadlift at 5'11 185 and only 495 sumo. If you learn to use your longer limbs, you can develop more momentum from a longer lever. Shorter limb need to develop more torque and static strength.

    @@ramsaybolton9151 An excuse would be "I cant build muscle cause I have long limbs so I dont go to the gym" Im not using anything as an excuse Im just saying having longer limbs is significantly harder to build muscle its just a fact. Grab a dumbel and put 20kg on one side, now grab a barbell and but 20kg on one side again and lets say the barbell its self doesnt weigh anything, you will notice that the 20kg on the barbell feel a lot heavier thats what its like having longer limbs. And the sumo and regular deadlift example you said doesnt mean anything you just have trained on regular deadlifting more thats why its easier for you than sumo

    Love how basic and simple Eddie's approach is. No technical bullshit. No working out percentages, or different phases of training, just keep going up in weight until you can't get 6 and walk away. That's how he got so strong. No nonsense, basic and hard graft. I remember Jordan Peters, who used to train at the same gym as Eddie years ago, saying he once saw Eddie get out of his squat pattern with 7 plates a side on the bar. He just adjusted himself at the bottom and came back up like it was nothing!! A freak of nature that lad.

Tommy could surely lift more than 300lbs doing barbell bench, perhaps even as high as 350lbs+, which is BIG lifting *especially* for someone with superrr long arms. Thanks for this advise to become strong: Do 6 reps per set. Keep adding weight after each set. When you've reached the amount of weight where you can't do 6 reps with anymore, you're done.

    Works great! Did bicep curls with dumbbells. Started with zero weight. After every 6 reps i added 1kg. When i reached 12 kg i couldn;t finish 6 reps so that's when i knew i was done.

  • @Dustin192

    @Dustin192

    Жыл бұрын

    If you want to get stronger doing the 6 reps is better because you can go heavier with only doing 6 reps compared to 10 and always end with your heaviest set

  • @johnnylong1428

    @johnnylong1428

    Жыл бұрын

    @@Dustin192 You missed the point. The rep range is 2-5. When you can do 6 you add 10% to the weight, and that's your weight for next session. So you will only be doing 6 reps on weeks where you have gained enough strength to increase the weight again. They added weight until they couldn't do 6 basically, after a few light warmups. But for strength training you'd want to warm up and move pretty quickly to the 2-5 rep range weight, I presume.
