The Soul Sword began affecting non-magical objects and people in the original New Mutants run between Fall of the Mutants and Inferno. The other characters noticed the change and it was supposed to be a sign of her losing control, but once the change happened it never reverted to only affecting magical objects and people. Magik is one of the most powerful X-Men by a considerable margin. In her base form and on earth she fought Thor, Captain America, and Black Knight at the same time and all 3 were forced to give ground in Secret Wars 2. Being the ruler of Limbo makes her a Hell Lord just like Mephisto and Hela, and the other Hell Lords are impressed and worried by her power. The soul sword is one of the most powerful magical weapons in the Marvel universe, sought after by numerous magical beings, and no one else even knows how to create another one. And whenever there's an alternate reality where she goes full evil she trounces the X-Men as a team like its nothing. There was the Inferno mini from the 2015 Secret Wars where she destroyed the whole X-Men and Colossus only stopped her because she gave him every possible advantage and kept not killing him whenever she had the chance. In X-Men Forever the entire team who was there was helpless against her and they only survived because she got bored and left. And in the Excalibur cross-time caper she was untouchable to everyone but the Phoenix, and even then only when Phoenix was restored to full power.

Magik is underrated I wish she had her own series

magik is one of those characters that deserves better than she gets...most often just serving as a "magic bus" for her teammates. Her power levels fluctuate WILDLY depending on who is doing the writing.

Everyone sleeps on Magik and never give her her flowers. Sis is ridiculously powerful and if you read comics and seen who she's fought and won against.

I think sometimes her coolest power is her moral ambiguity that she wrestles with all the time. She is anchored as a human by people like Kitty, Colossus, and the New Mutants but she’s also the ruler of a horde of demons and can act like it. She can make moral decisions but she’s also the most likely Xman to do the hard thing that’s immoral for the right reasons because she’s not as burdened by a soul. She really needed that balance with Doctor Strange to help hone her powers in a more positive manner.

I really hope they explore that in a singular issue or something , like they did with phoenix resurrection when they brought Jean back , the emotional dilemma and turmoil for the fact that she doesn’t have a huge chunk of her soul anymore

This girl is just insane even without training from doctor strange and I’d even argue she’s already in the black hole level tiers even in her base.

Magik is such a underrated character. Its insane. I did notice in this one there was footage of Magik from Marvel COC (which is a great mobile fighting game btw) and I also saw more feats being showed in this one too

BY FAR BEST VIDEO BREAKDOWN OF MAGIK SHE BEEN A FAVORITE OF MINE BUT HER LORE IS CRAZY WITHIN THE MARVEL UNIVERSE 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

We need a Magik film in the MCU, they could probably touch on her origin story a bit in the Magik x Storm comics, then have some cameos of characters from new mutant comics, but give her a solo hero story like they did Captain Marvel. I think the reception for her will be a lot more positive if they show the audience how dark & messed up her backstory is, how badass her personality & attitude towards fighting is. People really gloss over how strong she actually is, they only thought about it when Dr. Strange wanted to make her sorcerer supreme in a what if.

Great Video! Magik really is insanely powerful. The Soul Sword has affected tons of non magical beings and things though. It's sliced through sentinels, cut heads of opponents off, sliced through non magical monsters, cut cosmic beings like the slaughter lords and even turn opponents into demons. Her stepping discs can also be insanely over powered, she's cut limbs off with them, redirect attacks and teleport opponents into walls. She's teleported things into the sun. She even teleported part of the x-mansion into a place outside reality. She can also teleport opponents into Limbo which should basically be game over. She's such an underrated character.

don't forget she can also time travel. it happened more than once in the original New Mutants....most writers these days ignore it.

At the ACE comic-con I bought an AMAZING Magik drawing done by a comic artist, but amongst my friends none of us were familiar with her. This is hands down the best video I've seen explaining Magik. I'm a raven and DC fanatic myself, and I would say Magik is the CLOSEST parallel to Raven -from the Marvel Universe. Does anyone agree? Either way, both underrated badass chicks.

While I agree that they are similar when they're young, Illyana is story becomes more about nuking the ever loving shit out of anyone that wants to use her, while Raven always falls under the auspices of not really being in control of her own life.

She's a freakin' magical wreak havoc warrior. I DO LOVE HER!

If Marvel wants a female hero here she is. Magik is a deep and interesting character that is bad@$$. I personally wouldn’t put her so high up on level on Earth due to her low durability and relative human reflexes because she likes to mix it up physically in fights. In Limbo…. forget about it she is crazy powerful.

Low durability, relatively human reflexes? You do know she is a Queen of a hell dimension right? Which also makes her a demon. This is what I meant in one of my earlier comments when I said that some writers don't know how to use her.

I love Magik. My favorite mutant and top 3 characters. She's my number 2 after Thor. Glad this popped up as a suggested video! I hope we get to see her in the MCU especially since Clea is now in the MCU and Dr. Strange could teach her, she could become the next Sorcerer Supreme if Cummberbatch leaves the MCU.

Magik is actually among the most interesting magicians in Marvel, she, Selene and Madelyne imo. Her powers was never explored. This girl should be among the most skilled magic users but they limit her power more than any other magician. She has studied all the books in Limbo which no earthling knows of that knowledge. Yet they treat her like an unskilled user.

Loved her since her inception as Magik (circa 1983). Hope they do a Strange Magik comic series, I don't see her a lot with Dr. Strange anymore.

She’s so underrated like damn ..... 🤯. Defo one of the powerful ones and personal faves for sure ! Also I have a suggestion how about Emma frost or HawkGirl I’m still fascinated by her two mutant forms equal strong 💪.

I’ve been wondering bringing up the Phoenix Force can you a video on Jean Grey(separately). The whole Jean Grey and Phoenix being one in the same has changed in the comics. But Jean is an omega level mutant/Telepath in her own right. Even more powerful them Prof X. People kinda use the PF as an excuse to say that jeans basic powers are weak without it.

Magic is my favorite DC and Marvel together and together with Kitty Pride also my favorite duo. No one actually knows exactly how powerful she is. because Magik itself and Marvel don't know it themselves. I often read that on Earth her powers would be less... because she doesn't know it herself, but... also on Earth her powers grow again and again, so as she starts to understand it better...and by the way Magik is not only fictional she is not fictional either, her other name is Anya Tylor-Joy 😍😍😍😍😍😍

White Raven folds, she overpowered Trigon after she was buffed with the souls of Azarath during the 1985 who was equal to Spectre and Trigon destroyed infinite realities in Pre Crisis.

So is she the equivalent to Raven aka racial from DC but they both are considered demonic it's just that Raven was born a demon
