That is prime Hafthor imo , he easily deadlifted 501kg , without proper training he benched 100kg (I think?)dumbells for 7-8 reps which is more than what Eddie did , Thor also has a 250kg pause bench and he literally never bench flat , especially not for a powerlifting meet so with proper training he could get close to a 300kg bench , he easily squatted 460kg while being 6'9 and he looked like he could have done 475-480 with good depth , his best overhead press was about 208kg I think , back in 2017 maybe? He got way stronger after that year , he also won literally everytime the truck pull event , stones , He was also pretty close to match the 1 arm shoulder press record at the Arnold and he did these around 30 years of age , To me it is clear that Hafthor is the strongest human ever as of right now

Although Eddie is probably one of the best deadlifters to ever walk the planet, he is in no comparison as great as big Z. You can fill a room with Z's trophies. Eddie peaked in one year, winning WSM and hitting 500kg deadlift but that doesn't compare to the years Z has dominated the sport. Even though Pudzian has 5 titles, the closest comparison to the who the GOAT is would be between Z and Shaw and even then...Z is the GOAT

Hall one WSM one time by half a point AFTER a last minute event switch which massively favoured him against his opponents. Hall won a handful of England Strongest Man titles too. Big Z dominated the WSM for a time, as well as the Arnolds, broke numerous world records across different events (some still stand years later) and smashed the strongman circuit throughout a 30 year career. Why are we comparing these two again? Z belongs in the same echelon as Jon Pall, Kaz, Magnus Ver, Pudzianowski and Shaw. Eddie didn't even get close to matching ... I dunno ... @Freyja Channel lmao in terms of strongest in their peak, it's Hafthor and in terms of longevity and greatness, it's Big Z. Eddie can't even win 1 ASC which is considered the better representation of strength than WSM. Eddie was able to win 2017 WSM with a sudden event change during competition and oddly that year WSM final have 3 static event which never happened in WSM final. Also, in the same year Eddie barely won WSM by 1 point with the help of the sudden event change, Thor beat him in ESM. Eddie only has Axle press WR which he broke it by 1 kg. And only 1 international title in his name. He is far from being the strongest man

  • @pbkimblee1858

@Freyja Channel Records don't require it to be on competition to be broken. It's some BS that Eddie spit out to discredit Thor's lift. Even Steinborn Squat world record was broken out of competition and no one bats an eyes. Eddie was salty af that his record was about to be broken so he spit out these BS. Also, Thor has 3ASC which is considered better representation of raw strength than Wsm. Eddie's highest placing is 6th. Thor has around 4 ESM and even beat Eddie at ESM months before Eddie won WSM, which he barely achieved with the help of the officials. Thor stood at the podium of WSM for 8 consecutive years while Eddie only 2 times. Definitely not stronger than Thor. Also, Big Z has the log press world record of 228 kg, Eddie's best lift is 213kg . Eddie beat Big Z's axle press by 1 kg too. Obvious that Big Z has way stronger shoulder than Eddie.

  • @pbkimblee1858

@Freyja Channel Go watch Eddie's 230kg log press attempt. He was using leg drive on both attempt yet he failed both. And for the axle press, he arch his upper to recruit some pec muscles which he excelled at. It's impossible to push press when you arch your back that much. You either use your leg drive or pec muscles but you can't do both. And as for world record, it simply means breaking the current world record while being officially recorded. It doesn't require a competition, it never has. The current equipped deadlift world record then was 500kg done by Eddie Hall at Giant's Live so Thor broke Eddie Hall world record at World Ultimate Strongman Feats of Strength. Hell, he even follow strict 15minutes interval rest while Eddie was given the privilege to rest almost half an hour.

Zydrunas might hold the title of GOAT forever. For someone to surpass him, they don't just have to be the best -- they have to be the best for 15+ YEARS. We may never see champions with such longevity anymore, as the sport has become more and more competitive and the requirements for greatness have become greater and greater still. We need significant medical breakthroughs or actual mutants with superhero genetics to pull that off. Fun fact: Big Z never even went after records. He just trained to win competitions, and managed to set some of the strongest strongman records in the progress. Among these records were some of the most prestigious events among the sport, like the Austrian Oak for reps, log lift, axle press for maximum weight, hummer tire deadlift for maximum weight, farmer's walk, Atlas stones, block press, squats and more. When Eddie Hall broke Z's axle press record, he trained specifically to break it by a single kilogram, but Z set his 215kg record in a Giants Live competition with tons of other events in the mix. To have someone set records that strong while just training to do well in competitions in general is practically unheard of. In most cases, when records are broken, the athletes put a massive emphasis on training that one specific lift to push it further, but Z never had to do that...

He beat his own record on the log every year after that till the 228 kg while he didn't have one chance to try axel in comp in the mean time. But if we go to the ASC, big Z had 208 kg axel for 4 reps on the Apollon Wheels. Bullshit 1rm calculators say he would get 227kg to 233kg on his max, but let's say 220 kg at least. Big Z. The best Eddie is stronger than the best Big Z in terms of most static strength things. Well, Eddie was pretty good at stones, too. But the best Big Z excelled at so many things. Plus, it's the length of the career we should consider. Big Z didn't compete at WSM at his peak for 5 years, and still managed to bag 4 WSMs. The man literally won every possible recognised strongman competition in the planet. And he is still winning. The list of his awards in his Wikipedia page is a mile long. How can a man keep dominating for so long? Also, look at Martins. Kieliszkowski. They go for rest to recover. Big Z used to compete all along the year. His frequency was just incomparable. What Pele/Maradona/Messi/Ronaldo(both) is to Football, what Muhammad Ali is to Boxing, what John Brzenk is to armwrestling... Big Z is that to strongman. Undoubtedly the GOAT.

I don’t know which variation is easier, but notice that in the Viking press (5:49) their hand placement is different. Also big z did all his reps in a row, while Eddie put the weight down for a few moments in order to rest. I don’t know if the reason for that is different rules (although I would assume that it’s the case), but if you look at how many reps each one of them did without putting the weight down then big z did 13 while Eddie did only 11 B.t.w not complaining, it’s probably the closest compression, but I’m just pointing it out

Big Z being dominant for so many years was most impressive for me. Also the fact that most of these records that Eddie Hall got were just beating Big Z's from 10 years previous. Not to knock Eddie at all, but it shows how Big Z was ahead of the competition in his time. I read an interesting article where it compiled the total points over every international competition of the past 40 years (as of 2017) whereby Big Z had a share of 41% of all points (4612 of 11450) which is absolutely ridiculous when you think about it.

Personally, I'm someone who doesn't like to consider titles as much bc those always depend on the level of competition of any era and people today are arguably stronger than ever before, on average. That being said, I assumed Z to be slightly better at everything but the deadlift and Eddie winning on that, easily and this confirms my thoughts. I also think Z had more in the tank on the axle than Eddie. But one could argue that Z used his legs and Eddie didn't at all, so Eddie's arms and shoulders might have been statically a bit stronger. Funny too that for once, Z uses MORE legs than someone else in a comparison. I dunno about you guys but I was always one of the guys thinking "what could he do if he actually had proper leg drive" ^^

Very similar athletes all being said, I would say Eddie is just little bit more static and Big Z is more athletic.

Baltic Chads have that WHG DNA, if Zydrunas is ever surpassed it will be by a giant Estonian but I dont see it happening in the next 30 years.

Shaw is strong. No doubt. But he's not in Big Z's league. Eddie may be stronger in 1 or 2 events, but it's a competition of many events. Plus, Big Z is a gentleman, who never moans. Eddie is a drama queen who falls all over the place and acts like he's seconds from death. No class...

I think that's all fair comment. But didn't Eddie's approach at least add a bit of variety to the strongman landscape?

Maybe. But when he goes on film, telling the world that he's the strongest man who ever lived, that's just laughable. Win it a few more times and log press 230kg, then we'll talk...
