They drag their pray into trees to avoid bigger predators looking to take their food from them , and they are quite formidable also , but they will not risk fighting a bigger cat like a lion or tiger for their kill , as animals won’t risk injury , but in some cases if they are hungry enough , I have seen leopards fight to keep that food source , and then they will drag it up a tree , like usual , lol

The largest carcass hoisted by a leopard according to a study was 166kg buffalo carcass. 50 kg is very easy for a leopard to hoist. Even female leopards are capable of hoisting upto 4 times their weight.

In that channel, u could see a video where leopard hoist buffalo calves, giraffe calves etc. Anyway, the report of 166 kg hoist was given in the study 'Caching reduces kleptoparasitism in a solitary, large felid'. The statement of leopardess capable of hoisting 4 times their weight was given in the study 'Leopard predation on giraffe calves in the Etosha National Park'. Tigers are the only big cat that enjoys swimming, Jaguars will dive into the water for a kill but don't swim for fun, the Tiger is the only big cat to have partially webbed feet and have been seen miles out at sea. And there were some fights in everland that we have never seen so its ridiculous to make such conclusions. And those are captive lions and tigers. Fights between such specimens doesn't really prove much because most of the time these captive cats are docile and literally don't fight at their full potential, with thesame level of aggression and ferocity you will see from wild specimens. Those Everland videos were a bunch of silly short few mins of scraps that mean nothing. Most of the lions were asiatic and literally look asiatic being pitted with siberian and bengal tigers.

Other people probably mentioned this but you forgot the snow leopard which is in fact in the panthera genus. I think a lot of people over look them since they can't roar, but they are probably one of the toughest animals on the planet. All cats are extremely tough. Very tough loose skin, powerful muscles, flexible and strong bones. But snow leopards take this to another level You can find a video of a snow leopard surviving a 400+ foot fall down a mountain with a 200 pound goat repeatedly landing on top of him while he hits the rocks with full force over and over. He came out of that fall with nothing more than some bruises. It's insane how tough cats are, but more importantly, how tough snow leopards are

Seen an interview with this guy who had a back garden zoo in London before the British dangerous animals act 1976 and he was saying he was taking out a tiger cub for a walk, it was nearly full grown, and the local dominant dog seen it and thinking it was a dog ran up to challenge it but just as it got there realised it wasn’t a dog, then the tiger just swiped it with a paw breaking it’s neck and killing it.

A English hunter from South Africa wanted to settle a bet as to which would win the Grizzly or the lion. The fight took place in Yellowstone park. This appears to be a fair fight as that was the goal.

It was because it had accidently severed the lion's jugular vein with it's claw and that was from pure luck because a tiger wouldn't know where the lion's jugular vein is. Even if a leopard severed a tiger's jugular vein it would die almost instantly so it was just luck.

@@ghostzr7006 Lions hind quarters is much weaker than Tigers, so it's hard for them to stand and fight. Tigers (and Bears) are incredibly strong, can stand and fight. So if the Lion did that, it was luck. Lions are nowhere near as strong as Tigers, or large Bears. They're better off fighting in groups.

@@jasonwiggins6137 That was measured on a sub adult lion. Theres no reason for the lion's bite force to be that low when they have as much muscle as a tiger and hunt big game at the same time. For an animal that can snap buffalo spine with a couple of bites, 600lbs is far too low

Basically, Jaguars are smaller version of tigers. They can Swim underwater, similar hunting techniques, same fighting techniques, but the sizes are the great differences. and Jaguars bites their prey on the head, Tigers bites their prey on the troat.

I have realised something about big cats that seemingly no one else has. The typical big cat Trafalger Square statue pose where the lion sits half down with it’s front paws straight out flat on the ground is because they can “hear” vibrations of potential prey walking by and pinpoint their position. I realised this watching a wildlife documentary where it was being filmed in IR and they pointed out an antelope with a white hot patch on it’s rear which they said was a muscle injury. Suddenly the lions singled the antelope out and grabbed it and the film crew were amazed they caught it saying they must have heard it limping but I think they felt it through their front legs.

It is pure invented-opinion and completely unreliable. To pitch fight on such things as “muscular density” or that the lion is merely front-muscle dense and will lose out to the tiger in a fight by being less “heavy” is as ill informed as saying that some dude in the NFL weighing so much will beat Floyd Mayweather or Bruce Lee in a fight, because they are less “heavy.” Once a person tells you that there is any cat on earth that will stand up to the African lion in a fight you can stop listening to that person right there; because they will simply quote “weight” as the overriding criterion. Yet the same smart folks will tell you that the tiger can handle the bear, even though the bear weighs more. Or, they will neglect to tell you that they are comparing the Siberian tiger’s weight to the Lion’s, and not mention that when it comes to fight and athleticism, the Siberian is a pussy cat compared to the relatively smaller bengal. The bengal is the king of tigers - even though it is much smaller than the Siberian, and even smaller than the African lion by a smidge. Animals don’t fight by weight - they are not sumo wrestlers. When you compare tools - canines, claws, intelligence, dominance, and athletic ability, no cat - including the tiger - comes close to the lion in fighting quality.

Some things not mentioned here: 1. Lions are taller than tigers, sometimes exceding 10 inches. Clear advantage when fighting. 2. Lions have more bone density than tigers, which makes them more resistant to strikes and injuries. 3. Lions have longer and more muscular front legs, chest and front body part, which makes them a better restler than tigers. 4. Lions have more stamina than tigers, which allows them to last longer on a fight. Tigers would get weakend much before than lions during a fight. This has been seen on every fight between them. 5. Lions have mane, that protects the regions where tigers would attack, such as neck and throat. 6. Lions are much more used to fighting against other lions for females, food and prides than tigers. 7. Lions have wider variety of attack technics than tigers and yes, they also fight on the rear legs, thou it is not the most used one. If you see lions fightings each other, you could see how the also "stand up" to fight. 8. More important when fighting is: weight isn't always an advantage, when you fight a lighter, more agile, more determined, more experienced and more protected adversary.

@@Clarity0yx Most of the times, fights were held in arenas near the place the animals were captured. When tigers and lions were captured it was in Asia. So yes, a bengal tiger might defeat an asiatic lion. But, when the events were held in colisseums, the lions would be mostly babary lions. And as you know, they were as large as the larger tiger. There's much literature about it. It's important to read "not-aligned to either side" ones. Greetings.

I lovq all big cats. Although tigers are bigger but Lions are really bless with double strength which make them different.

From my point of view the lions have a more hostile habitat in terms of climate and available resources and they usually spend more time fighting to survive, so we can appreciate more wounds in their fur. Tigers on the other hands are more used to hunt alone that favours to develop a more athletic body than lions.

The tiger size is always different wherever you look. In just this video they’re said to reach 660lbs then less than 2 minutes later they’re said to reach 1,000bs. It’s also frequently said they reach 850-880lbs. So can they grow to 660lbs, 880lbs, or 1,000lbs?

Bengals get to about 350 to 400. Siberians maybe top out at 675 but on average are around 500 for males. Videos like to sensationalize.

Generally in natural environment, a Bengal tiger goes between 550lb to 650. And heaviest ever recorded was 373 kilo I guess which is around 820+ lbs While Siberian tiger never reached that weight in natural environment or jungle, they reached 390+ kg while in captivity only ! Depends on the Tiger Species while i double the lepjag Was 500 lbs probably 400 at most Siberian and Bengal are too strong and big but the lepjag could kill a smaller Tiger Species like the south China or Javan Tiger which are/where much smaller than the Siberian and Bengal (Siberian and Bengal Can reach around 600-700 lbs in the wild and 800+ kn Captivity but the other Tiger Species are around the size of a lion ir Jaguar so rhe lepjag would have a chance

The funny part is that all the highly wanked up weights this guy mentions for tigers whether he knows or not is given for lions too by hunters , like the 700lbs and 800lbs and these numbers are unlikely to reach for either species . And the weight numbers given for the lions is grossly low , 150kg is quite small even for an Asiatic lion whereas a 300kg tiger is almost non existent in the wild today

Well this channel is super biassed to tigers. All max weights he attributes to tigers where the largest specimens but he seems to tell that they always have that weight in average. As you said some hunters also claims the same wieghts for lions but due to biasses or ignorance it was swept under the rug

Not in Panthera, but Cheetas are the fastest, and Puma's can jump the farthest relative to size.

I'm kinda surprised you didn't include the cheetah in this line up, would have made another interesting comparison. No land animal can beat the cheetah for speed, but I imagine would fall very short on the other attributes. Nice video though thank you.

You are basically saying lions are cowards for 4v1 a lion and the other lion is brave to still fight them which doesn't make sense at all. Because all 5 are lions. What you said about Endurance and Resistance is true tho. Even if you take off their manes, they are still more durable cats than Tigers hands down. But tigers biggest feats was to endure being stepped by an elephant for almost a minute after being shot but pretty sure a lion could also endure the same thing. The difference isn't as big as you are trying to make it to be.

sound great at all but in reality every scenario where zoo´s did a mistake and a lion have to fight a tiger the tiger almonst always wins. doesn´t matter if there where zoo breeds or if they where captured from the wild tigers are just in generell way stronger and they have to fight each other often for prey especially male lions are kinda lazy they wait for females to bring the food and just fight against a lion who try to take their position. female lions are too weak to be compared to their male counter part and not even close to a tiger. and i dont get how u think lions got like that top tier fighting power compared to a tiger, bite force kinda even weight tiger favoured muscle tiger favoured paw tiger favoured the only advantage lions got is that their mane is a good defense tool against bites or paw hits straight into their neck

They are stronger, more agile and more "skilled" as fighters, in almost every fight you can look up on KZread, you can see tigers handling the lions with a little difficulty but still. In Xi"an zoo or everland zoo for example where there are fights between the big males there are literally hours of footage, whereas everywhere else has that young, gender differences of both animals which debalance everything and don't proove anything at all so I don't get why people get their facts from these videos, we see lions fighting tigresses or male tigers fighting old lions or being outnumbered(it's mostly in the lion favor tho btw ngl). Lions got the endurance and resistance, so in order for a tiger to defeat a lion, it has to go directly for the kill at the start of the fight(which wouldn't be much of a problem by the way considering their larger strength, greater size and raw speed) or the lion will slowly starts to dominate little by little. Tigers will win 7/10 in a fight against a lion, no one can change my mind.
