I totally agree with you. At first I was a bit frustrated at how Rudy never seemed to be the strongest person in any one place when ti felt like it mattered (unless he had the Mark I or the Mark III with him), but I ended up really appreciating that his main ability was to make allies that would follow him to the ends of the six faced world because they trust him implicitly. Besides, we saw what a Rudeus consumed by vengeance and a drive to become stronger looks like and it’s not pretty.

Honestly, I had no problem with Rudy getting op powers. First, his magic reserves/silent spellcasting came from hard work, and it wasn't unique to him at all. Since Slyphy did silent spellcasting a few days into magic training. For magic eyes, since Rudy sucks at swordsmanship since he can't use battle aura it's a good balancer for that weakness. Finally the fights are similar to Jojo's fight. Power, skill, and strategy are the major factors in a fight instead of punching harder.

Well, Magonote is smart, in that he understands that "power" does not mean anything, if you are alone. He also makes it very clear in his story, that there is no power, no matter how OP or broken - Fighting God armour, cough, cough... - that can't be overcome by teamwork and strategy. I really love that, not only, because it is completely different than what most shounen stories do, but also, because it gives characters a chance to overcome seemingly impossible challenges by being smart/knowledgable and flexible. This greatly reduces the need for power creep, which plagues most stories like this and it also removes the need for the hero of the story to overpower - meaning that he has to literally be stronger than - his opponent. In conclusion: Good writing.

It's crazy because it's al.ost the opposite of most stories where the protagonist has a cheat quotient. Where they can break the rules. But rudeus essentially has an upper cap on his effective strength. Due to purely the fact that he is human. Rudeus is skilled enough with EFFORT and some luck to be extremely strong. but most of his important opponents are Gods and demons. And rudeus is human. So he can't utilize his skill or mana effectively without utterly disintegrating his body. He can never output more than 5% of his mana on any single spell. So instead of the Shonen power up at the critical parts of the story. He instead hits an unpassable wall placed there by fate. And has to turn to orstead as the true "traditional" unfair protagonist who can break all the rules.

@@ayoo_wassup I agree with you on this one. I also love, that Rudy actually loses fights, when there is just no way for him to win. Rifujin doesn't just pull a deus-ex-machina to make the protagonist win, even though he should have lost. Because, there is nothing I hate more, than when an author just decides that the protagonist ALWAYS has to win, even if the rules of the story have to be bent or broken.

Glad to have you back Natalie. I would also add for the foresight that Rudius has still required a lot of training for Rudius to really utilize it as well as he did.

Yes, but also no - he had to train to really use it well but he was also able to use it almost immediately which would normally not be possible.

@@thatguywatchingyou9549 well if you think about how that eye was just about controlling how much mana does it need it wasn't that hard for him to figure it out because he was already good at magic.

Rudeus getting the eye without working for it is symbolic for him being drawn into a Faustian deal. The fact that he got it so easily should have been off-putting, but he continued to trust Hitogami because he didn't see what was going on. It's also symbolic that this seeming holy grail handed too him doesn't turn out too useful as he gets better. It would have been much more useful if he'd stopped improving and taken the lazy way out, but he got the better of his situation and has grown past it. His illicitly-gained power is now only a trifle compared to the skills and abilities he's gained from his own hard work.

Been a while since I watched the anime but in the ln he didn't trust hitogami. Everything was working out for him but there was something about the way he spoke that made him seem untrustworthy. Also the meetup with kishirika kishirisu was a manipulation to keep him away from Roxy.

@@olstar18 I should have phrased it better. He originally didn't trust Hitogami, and the eye was one of the ways Hitogami gained his trust. He didn't hang onto that mistrust like he should have, because if he'd thought about it critically, there was no reason for Hitogami to help him the way he did except to buy trust.

He also gets the 100 miles eye but you can say that is not something that helps him in battle, also he learned gravity magic when he was fighting the north god. I love that he is never seen as op, everyone knows a weak side of him, his family knows how mentally frail he is for example, even when the Laplace factor is said to be the reason of his huge mana pool, orsted makes it clear that he would only have a little more mana than normal if he didnt train as a child, so nothing is given without effort, nice to see you back Nat, the other day we had a little discussion about Subaru but you know i love you haha hoping to see you more often and i hope everything starts to get better

I love power scaling discussions because the answers on how strong the characters are and the reasonings on why they are that Strong are always interesting even when you're trying Power scale non-combat focused stories you can Still power scale but instead of asking who is the strongest character in a fight you can just ask who is the smartest character or even who is the best at a sport you can basically always ask a power scaling question and always get an interesting answer.

Yeah, it can be a lot of Fun to discuss the reasons why. The only time I have issues is when someone is such a Fan of a Character that they refuse to acknowledge any issues or weakness. I had that happen not to long ago with some Marvel Characters. Guy was such a huge Hulk Fan that he refused to accept Ghost Rider was a match for him.

I love the power armor. One of my favorite side things was when he rescued those two girls from the giant lizard in spectacular fashion while in the armor. I'm also just a big fan of things like Iron Man too 😜

That was great and I agree. I think that him developing a power armor to compensate his lack of an aura or touki was the last thing I expected and seeing it in action was badass as hell.

In regards to teleportation spells, it goes a little bit further than having access to the network I think. He is quite skilled in magic circles such as to summon things, and I got the impression he can create temporary teleportation circles with them, but I might be misremembering this and these might have been given to him by Orsted.

He has scrolls for it when they start setting up that whole thing with their hub at Orsted's base, but that was all a bit overcomplicated for the purposes of this video.

I think the reason why I love power scaling so much or at least power scaling discussions is because it promotes in depth thinking and I just like thinking about things in depth in general even if the question isn't all that important.

I love that the whole classification for MT magic system is basically a framework arbitrarily created by people, not an actual rules baked into the rules of the universe. General populous don't understand magic fully and it is currently being reaserched, so people create rules and frameworks based on observation, that make magic easier to grasp, but are not always entirely accurate. That's why i like it more than something like HxH system, that feel too game-like to be a naturally emerged thing.

I think its really great how Rudy isnt so overpowered that nothing is a challenge but hes more advanced because of his thought process when it came to magic rather than the blessing of a god or whatever Like yes he can cast incantationless magic but others can too if taught at an early age, he has a great magic capacity but so do others like Sylph (less magic than him but still), hell he cant even use healing magic incantationless which is a nice touch to make him less op I loved it how he went to the rank of 7th in world powers with all of his friends help. It feels less like a friendship conquers all plot device and more like he earned that ranking by being the person he is and working as hard as he did. It feels really deserved in my opinon A quote ill never forget from the LN which perfectly sums this up was: Rudues taking about becoming one of the world powers- “But I’m certain that I didn’t become one only on my power alone.” Ruijerd-“That power might be yours as well.” Beautiful line

7:53 when he rescues Roxy I thought it was stated that he used to the emperor level spell absolute zero. And it was explained that emperor level magic was primarily a combination of multiple weaker level spells at an insanely high level.

No. Roxy assumed it was the emperor level spell absolute zero, but it turned out Rudy was just using a super powered up version of frost nova, as tall hand later confirms to Roxy.

​@@luisalmanza119 Rudy actually confirm later that it IS Absolute Zero. When he study about Emperor spells he admit that he already use that spell. Emperor magic basicially ia just King rank spell with tons of mana pumped into it. God level spell is the same but affect the large part of the world.

Rudy is great. I don't think he's OP, but he is strong. I think what keeps him from being completely OP is there are characters who can get the better of him. His strength also doesn't break the rules of the world he lives in, which I think is what it means to be OP.

to me, being OP doesn't only mean you are strong but that you opponent never had a chance to begin with, that's why in a way Subaru is OP even when he isn't powerful combat or mana wise

@@Ricardo_Rick Since OP is shorthand for overpowered, I think you need to have clear indomitable strength that overwhelms others. Ainz Ooal Gown is the perfect example of an OP character. There's nothing that can actually harm him. Even when he's up against an enemy that "should" be able to harm him, he gets out of every situation without so much as a scratch. Subaru's ability doesn't seem OP to me because consistent use of Return by Death is psychologically damaging. Maybe he can't "die" in the literal sense, but he's going through so much mental torture that it's more of a curse than a blessing. On the subject of Rudy, I think his powers remain within the confines of realism as far as this world is concerned. Plenty of people are stronger than him. While his magical aptitude is incredible, he would die easily if he fought against someone like Eris. There's also people like Orsted, Perugias, etc.

@@Gpoeit to be fair he can defeat the hero Reinhart, but not the person, at least not when the "what if" happened, but if that were to happen now we can't be sure that Subaru would lose, also, being OP doesn't mean you need to kill the person, but only to achieve victory in an overwhelming way

I have to add that Rudeus himself admits he got into the 7 great world powers by cheating as he attacked an already weakened foe.

I love your final analysis. As a man who has been both a day laborer and the owner of a company who hires the day laborers. I find this story fascinating. I have also found to a certain extent I don’t like being a boss. But I also don’t like being a day laborer. Rudy’s story speaks to me because of this. I like to work. I like to put effort into what I am doing. But I am not interested in being bossed around. I am also not interested in being the boss.

Rudeus is very powerful, but I wouldn't say OP. A lot of his power comes from his ingenuity, which genuinely is one of my favorite types of fighting abilities in characters.

Well, he's also powerful enough to massacre whole cities in that timeline, but this is about how strong our Rudeus gets, not his overall potential if he gets upset enough!

At first it feels like he is OP with the Silent Casting, and the first time he blows a hole in the House, but once we see him almost get Killed by the Kidnappers this changes. Not to mention Turning Point 2 showing just how Weak he is when up against someone who is OP.

I'd said it before in a video about isekai in general and I knew exactly what I was doing ;)

I remember when i read the webnovel years ago, and i cant remember if it was stated in the novel itself, but the conclusion was that Rudy's strongest weapon WAS his networking abilities. He was strong in his own right, but what made him terrifying was the ability to network so many other powerful entities and rulers around him

its worth mentioning his magic armor mk2 i believe that fits his body like armor rather than a mech suite gives him physical abilities on the level of a saint tier swordsman it may sound over powered but saint tier is kind of the bare minimum physical abilities that is needed for him not to to insta die to physical fighters of any renown considering saint tier is basically the standard for a swordsman who is just inching into adult hood after dedicating their life to training its kind of implied that anyone with a modicum of skill can reach saint tier with enough hard work. On a completely different topic i think to many people sleep on rudis dad i think hes easily saint level being a 3x advanced tier. Considering the rock paper scissors effect between the 3 styles i think he could probably fight evenly with a saint who only practices one style.

You did forget his armor cutting sword. Its small but it was a cool weapon. Becoming dull when cutting something soft directly but able to cleave through the hardest armor and scales like butter.

Glad to see you back. I have a question about after the main story ended: is it possible for Hitogami to try and manipulate one of Rudeus' kids? since they were born from him is it possible Hitogami can connect to any of them like he did with Rudeus? it would be an interesting thing to see. One thing i didn't like about the probable sequel is that iirc it would be set a long time after the main series ended, so all or most of the human cast we met would be already old or dead by the time, then again i don't know what the author is planning so we would need to wait until he starts working on them, i wonder if it will take long for him to do it. Hey, beside the lives do you plan to make some videos about the episodes as they are getting released?

I think Rudeus' family has been well briefed about Hitogami so would not fall for his manipulations, plus Orsted is looking out for them. The sequel will most likely be set when Akihito is summoned, so it's not that long after Rudeus dies really. Yes, a lot of characters will be old or dead, but there are also characters from long lived races who'll still be more or less the same, so it'll be a mix of new characters, kids of old characters, and old characters who are from races like elves, demon races and the dragon race. Plus Nanahoshi is in suspended animation and doesn't age so she'll be in it too.

@@NatalieXHunter yeah, i think characters like Roxy, Elinalise and some of Rudeus' kids will appear but the human ones might be really old already tho. i thought Akihito was summoned in the far future, way after the war against Laplace tho, but i might be wrong in there since i don't remember the timeline very well. yeah, i hope Nanahoshi appears a lot in the sequel, i even wonder if they will make it so the MC isn't the "leader" in the sequel like they did with Rudeus, maybe an MC that isn't actually from Rudeus' family but met them, but hey, we would need to wait and see.

After the Rudeus vs Orsted fight Orsted states that some of the spells Rudues used are at the God tier level of magic so by that means Rudeus is a god tier magician

Yeah I think he has different levels with each element, but would presumably average out around king given he's known as Magic King in later life. As I said in the video it's a bit tricky with magic because while he'd probably be capable of very high level stuff, it's not stuff you can practice or really use so demonstrating Emporer and God level abilities to earn those ranks would be tricky.

Isn't his Magical Armor Mark II based on the Berserk Armor from the manga.anime Berserk?

FTR "touki" = "battle aura" in the official English LN release... and pretty much the only reason why Rudeus isn't able to advance beyond intermediate Sword God style (or any sword style, for that matter) is because he can't utilize it - because he'd never be able to perform Sword of Light, the advanced technique of the Sword God style. Now just imagine how much more "OP" he would be if he could.

In the cliff arc wen he fights against the gard’s of the miko he stop’s the one guy that is a water style saint from drawing his sword, maybe he was in shock because rudy summoned the mk1, but rudy also said later that he think’s that he could have beaten dem even in the mk2, so I think that he is at least on saint level in close combat in the mk1.

@@eliasschneider4813 those are the operative words, though: in his MKs. The whole reason why he created those in the first place was because he couldn’t generate battle aura. And without the MKs, he probably never reaches the top 7.

Oh yeah, I forgot it wasn't called touki in the LNs, all the last stuff I read was WN content and the fan translators just left it as touki so I totally forgot.

I think it would've been better if in the anime series, it was show that Rudeus was able to use Chantless incantation for all 4-Healing class Magic but his limitations should be his inability to:- (1) Activate & Use Touki (2) Self-improve his Healing-class & Summon-class Magic Rudeus should've learnt these skills from Zenith-Greyrat in Bueina-Village:- (1) Intermediate-Rank => Heal & Detox magic (2) Elementary-Rank => Divine & Barrier Magic (3) Create Magic circles & scrolls for the above Magic. Elemental-Rank Barrier Magic should be like a Hexagonal Shield when performed by incantations but with Magic circle it could be given a semi-circular shape. Elementary-Rank barrier should be able to stop Physical attack upto the level of Advance-Rank Swordsman. When Rudeus fights the Kidnappers, he should've killed a Kidnapper but should be on the verge of getting killed by the other Kidnapper when Ghislaine save him. This should've made Rudeus realized that this real life & there are No do-overs for him or anyone else & that's why we see his pacifist stance or approach to things as he is scared to become a mindless mass murderer. In the Citadel of Roa, Rudeus should've learnt these skills & created these techniques:- (1) Knowledge of 4 Languages: Human, Demon, Beast & Fighting-God (Dragon) (2) Intermediate-Rank in Sword-God style without Touki (3) Developed Elemental Sense: Seismic Sense (4) Advance level: Etiquette, Mannerism, Performing Arts (Dancing, Signing, Painting & Sculpting) (5) Intermediate-Level: Horsemanship (6) Release MP from Hands & Feet to perform Magic (7) Surround himself with multiple Hexagonal Barriers for protection but shouldn't be able to cover himself with a semi-circular form of the Elementary-Rank Barrier Magic During his journey from Demon-Continent to Milis-Continent, Rudeus should've learnt, created, discovered & developed these skills:- (1) Demon-Kind Fighting style from Rujierd especially using his Magic-Staff as a Pole-Arm (2) Mana-Sense: Sense Mana in the surrounding by releasing his own Mana (3) Elemental Sense: Seismic & Aerokinetic sense (4) Levitation Magic: Levitating in the Air by using a combo of Earth & Wind magic (5) Surrounding himself with a Semi-circular version of Elementary-Rank Magic In the Great-Forest of Milis-Continent, Rudeus should've:- (1) learnt basics of "Howling-Magic" from Gustav (2) Developed: Hydro-Sense Magic (3) Developed Flight Magic from Levitation magic but still the Landing part should require more efforts. In his Solo-Adventurer Days, Rudeus should've learnt, mastered, discovered & developed these skills:- (1) Howling-Magic (2) Ran-Ma (Disturb) Magic (3) Flight-Magic: Perfect take-off & landing (4) Mana-Sense (5) Elemental Senses: Seismic, Aerokinetic, Hydro & Thermal sense (6) Envelop himself with Elementary rank barrier like a second-skin to protect himself from the Attacks of Advance-Rank Swordsman (7) Intermediate-Rank in all 3 Sword styles without Touki Rudeus's elementary-rank barrier magic should made other Adventurers think that he has touki or is at least an Intermediate Rank-Swordsman with Touki. Quagmire of Rudeus should be able to defeat Saint-Rank Swordsman in CQB situations by using a combo of his Foresight Eye & Magic. The only threat to Rudeus in CQB situations should be from King-Rank & above Swordsman or equivalent. (Warning: These are just my views & the story is different)

I am actually disapointed in this aspect of the world. 7 7... strongest? Like Orsted belongs. But like almost each of the other 6 I question. 1 we do not really know who they are or what they can do. Badi-Gaddi is not easy to rate with his feats Because most of his threat was borrowed strength and does not reflect him that well at all... I am cutting myself off there. Clearly I have a list of issues with those monuments and the lack of clear definition of how they determine whos on the list. In the case of Dragon God (Orsted I think) I have to ask why we never see the fool that beats him on the list do anything+ we never see Laplace do anything in main story. We get so much about so many that I can only be disappointed that these 2 we get so little to work with. Specifically in Mushoku Tensei. Then of course we never saw one when there were scenes with a certain old man in order to get a real gauge on them. Personally I see Rudy as high as 5 or 4 once he's had years to perfect his weirder spells. Sadly we'll never know.
