How Stoicism Made Dustin Poirier Unconquerable
Фильм және анимация
Dustin Poirier is a fighter who has evolved in front of our eyes. This video will analyze how he went from taking everything personally to becoming mentally bulletproof.
While Poirier vs Chandler may have just seemed like a classic Poirier barnburner, it actually highlights stoicism in action. Poirier vs Mcgregor 3 is also a perfect example of this. The Poirier vs Chandler fight shows how far Dustin has come, while the Poirier vs Chandler full fight is a perfect example of how great he has become.
This Dustin Poirier documentary analyzes clips ranging from Dustin Poirier interview to Dustin Poirier boxing. From not letting trash talk effect him, to acting at his best while his opponent is cheating, to doing good in the world, Dustin Poirier is a great role model and example of stoicism in action. Included: Dustin Poirier vs Charles Oliviera and Dustin Poirier vs Michael Chandler.
These clips are taken from both Dustin poirier interview and his podcast appearances.
The clip analyzing Dustin Poirier post fight interview also helps illustrate how stoic he has become.
Stoicism is an ancient Greek school of philosophy founded at Athens by Zeno of Citium. It offers practical wisdom in mastering ourselves and conquering adversity. This series seeks to highlight how it is used in action through well known MMA fighters. The clearest example of this is through dustin poirier vs conor mcgregor, and their trilogy.

It's crazy how calm Dustin stays in huge stress potential moments. A true fighter
Honestly, I said during fight 3: Poirier going from fight 1: 'I've never disliked somebody that much that I've ever fought' while McGregor was 'Business is never personal, it can be ruthless, it can be cruel, but it is never personal'. Fast forward to fight 3 and Poirier is 'Nah, straight business' post McGregor knockout while McGregor's embarrassing himself with 'Ya woife, is ya hoosband'. It was so telling of both men's trajectories.

I didn't watch the whole thing yet so I don't know if this gets touched upon in the video, but for fight 1 vs Conor, Dustin was terrified of him too. Much harder to scare a man who is truly stoic. And healthy fear of your opponent is a good thing because it will prevent you from becoming too cocky, but too much fear and you've already lost before you even enter the cage

@@KM-iv9xy I think it was less fear and more of Dustin getting himself worked up over Conor's words. When he got hit he tried to cover but left an opening for Conor to loop his left around Dustin's guard. Dustin said in the second fight when he tasted the power again he realized he could survive it if he didn't panic and stayed on task. Composure made a huge difference for him.
💎 really love how you pick a fighter to exemplify a topic and also pick cases that are very distinct from fighting, like in this one with Edison, to make the argument even stronger 💎

I agree! Poirier is in several of my videos, even if they're not centered around him, as a great example of what to do and how to be. Thank YOU for the kind words! It means a ton.
Stoicism helped me overcome jealousy, envy, an inferiority complex, and comparing myself to others. No matter how much I accomplished I always focused on the things I wasn't able to accomplish. The more successful I became in life the more insecure. My mind would play these tricks on me e.g., I wasn't good enough to get into engineering or medical school therefore I must be a failure. This was the constant mindset. I don't battle with that anymore I just do my absolute best now in whatever I am trying to pursue. The is the life I've been granted and this is where my bar of potential is at. I will continue to work as hard as I possibly can. So whatever my best efforts can offer I am content with that. We don't control all the variables in Iife only some of them. It is what it is. I am grateful. Very good content brother! Dustin Poirier's story is an inspiration. 💎💎💎

Funny how the roles have completely shifted since their first fight. Dustin is now a stoic maestro at his craft while Conor is an impulsive and insecure bully who can't stand the fact that Dustin has now surpassed him.

It’s up to you what the topic is about but I would be super happy and intrigued if you dedicated a video to any of them 🙏🏼
💎Well done. Subscribed on the strength of this video alone.
🔷 great video exploring part of what makes Dustin so damn great. A lot of people wrote him off so many times but that guy is all class and still forcing himself to learn, adapt, and get better every fight. I still see him becoming champ. He may even be well beyond his prime by the time it happens. But he is like the Michael Bisping of his weight class. One eye? No knees? Beyond your prime? Written off time and time again? Good. Will make winning the belt all the sweeter victory.
Every video is phenomenal, as a viewer strictly for entertainment and knowledge, these videos make me very content, I’d have to make time to give you any constructive criticism, no criticism to really give initially, nor a bit later on. Thank you for these videos once more.
