I’m here 3 years later lol. Trying to find tips on buying my first boat. Stability is big for me especially because I can’t swim lol. Nice boat
Congrats FireAnt! Looks great. I had a couple questions for you! 1. With everything added to it, what is your suggested weight limit in people and gear?! 2. Can I do something similar to this with $3000? I don't need the fancy high dollar gear, maybe just smart buy on electronics and livewell. 3. Is it plenty of space for 2 people? Thanks for everything you've been a big help already!
@fireantfishing
7 жыл бұрын
thank you! 1. im not really sure, i can say that weight isn't a worry for me now that I've had it on the water. i wouldn't be nervous to bring an extra cooler or add more tackle is what i mean. i don't think i would add a 3rd person though 2. ohh yeah for sure. i wouldn't use an aluminum frame again, i would stick with red wood. but i doubt the materials costed anywhere near 3 grand 3. yeah it is for sure. me and my buddy take it out and have no worries. it works great!

@fireantfishing

Hey man awesome build. Amazing. Quick question tho, why don't you have an outboard on it? At least a small one. And could you put one on it if ya wanted to?
@fireantfishing
7 жыл бұрын
yeah i could, i fish electric only lakes though, so i wouldn't be able to use it anyhow
man good job..
Cool boat. How much does it cost
Do u need pressure treated wood or is there a way or preserving it?
Subbed!

What was the name of your Jon boat in this video And how long was it And How wide was it
Is there an "overflow" drain on your livewell? What happens if you turn on the fill, and forget to turn it off?
@fireantfishing
4 жыл бұрын
No, will be in next livewell.
Great conversion! How many hours did it take to build it AND how much in parts did it cost?
@fireantfishing
7 жыл бұрын
it took me around a year in a half to complete. a bunch of it was me learning though, and i made many mistakes that i had to correct. but in the end it was worth it. i don't have an exact number for how much it cost, but it wasn't cheap. that seems to be a popular question so i do some math and figure out how much it costed me
COOL
What kind of boat ( name brand ) and where did u buy it , and price ?!
Did you do a video or could you do a video just about how to setup and install a live well system like yours. i know you explained the ins and outs, but im new to your videos and don't know if you did a video just for that
@fireantfishing
7 жыл бұрын

How much power are you using to run everything?
I WOULD HAVE LIKED TO SEE YOU CATCH THAT NICE BASS IN THE LIVEWELL

Just curious if you have any tips for someone that is looking into doing this and about how much did the total project cost minus the electronics and trolling motors?
@fireantfishing
7 жыл бұрын
i don't have an exact number, i did a horrible job keeping up with that. still debating on adding it all up and making a video on it
The boat is great man!! I HEAR YA on catching dinks!! That's all I ever catch!!
Lol who’s hitting thumbs down. Good build still 3 years later.
Nice boat dude. But you gotta get an outboard, you never know when a storm can come up on any body of water. I would say at least 9.9hp but I would get a used 15 or 20. Tight lines!
@fireantfishing
7 жыл бұрын
Thank you! i fish electric only lakes, with the exception of one. the limit on that lake is 10hp so getting a 9.9 could be in my future haha

Does the foam at the bottom help with the stabilization of the boat
@fireantfishing
4 жыл бұрын
No
So this boat is 62" across the bottom?? Or the top? I'd be very interested to see the performance of this boat with a 9.9 since that's what I plan on doing . I'm just torn between a 14 or a 16 because I want a as much speed as possible. Also you say you wouldn't go with an aluminum frame for the deck on a previous comment. Whys that?
@fireantfishing
7 жыл бұрын
Thank you! its 66" across on top. I'm not sure of the bottom off the top of my head. i like the 16' because they will be wider. personally i think thats a huge key in these builds. i don't know how to weld aluminum, so working with it became very time consuming. it took me almost a year and a half to complete. plus attaching the wood deck to the aluminum was a pain. it cost a lot of money, and mike lopez did a weight comparison between the red wood and aluminum and the saved weight was not great enough compared to money and time spent. however, i might not be saying this if i could weld aluminum, that might have helped a ton.
@fishingthe6183

I gotcha . Well I've located a 1452 and as of right now I'm going with a lot of your ideas.. I honestly just like the idea of aluminum frame (maybe because I'm an iron worker lol). I've been fishing 9.9 lake tournament series for awhile . Where I'm at there are probably 10-12 really really good 9.9 lakes within an hour so I been wanting to build a very nice Jon and I've had a vision for awhile . I was just searching around on here and stumbled on your videos and I swear this is what I had in my mind man... perfect . Once I start my build I plan on doing a video series on it as well and I probably will be in touch with you on some things if that's cool 😂
