Hey, out of curiosity is a Super Mario Odyssey World Record Progression something you'd be interested in creating? It has quite a history behind it, although due to it being a newer game, I don't think SummoningSalt will be making a video anytime soon. The community would be happy to help you out with research, and it'd be really really cool to see a video for, especially considering that it is one of the more popular speedruns out there, and doesn't have any really big progression videos out there, at least covering the grind for 56 and all that.

Well, I'm not gonna deny that I would much rather hear someone try to bullshit me about classic 64 games than any other video about any modern game. Lately a bunch of Ocarina and Majoras fangames have come out and no wonder people are loving them. They are much better than any TOK or BOW game. Even those fangames are more passionate and fun than any modern slob product nintendo puts out for us these days.

Ya it seems the algorithms has been doing something right lately. I've been getting a ton of great recommendations lately just like this video. This video especially is really cool to get a recommendation for since I just started playing this game again. Definitely not speedrunning it though. I'm not that skilled lol
Great video! I really appreciate the amount of research and attention to detail you gave for this project. The "orange revolution" highlight especially brings back such fond memories from when I first learned to speedrun the game. And yet amazingly, today there are 0 orange clips left in the any% route, even on N64. Just goes to show how glitch discoveries are re-shaping the run over the years.

I have no idea why, but this has become my comfort video. I’ve rewatched it more than I would care to admit. It’s just so well executed being a well paced, dynamic, interesting, passionate with a touch of humor, thought out video. It’s no secret that Connor01 is a ridiculously dedicated dude but this brought it to a new level. This video feels like an incredibly fascinating and encompassing movie with a documentary touch. Amazing video and huge props to everyone who worked on it, the time it must’ve taken to make this definitely payed off.

Great video, I thought you were doing a bit when you described how many collectibles are needed to beat the game because it was so complicated. Despite this, you explained every trick and optimization in a way that made sense to someone who has never played the game.
DK64 is probably my favorite game of all time (atleast tied favorite game). Love it so much and the speedruns can be pretty crazy. Cool to see the history behind the runs! Great video!

Hi Connor01, I just wanted to take a moment to let you know how proud I am of you for creating such an informative and well-researched video on the world record history of Donkey Kong 64 world record progression. Your dedication and passion for the game truly shines through in your video, and I learned so much about the history and evolution of this iconic game. It's clear that you put a lot of effort into researching and compiling all of the information, and your delivery and presentation were both engaging and entertaining. Your love for the game is infectious, and I can't wait to see what other amazing content you create in the future. So once again, congratulations on creating such an incredible video. You should be extremely proud of yourself, and I hope you continue to pursue your passion for gaming and sharing your knowledge with others.
Recently found the channel and have been binging. Keep up the great work!
Waiting for this year's piece of gold. Love your vids.
thank you for this great video!! good content :)
Brilliant video. Thanks for the effort. It must have taken a ton of research!
Dk 64 is an absolute classic. Havent actively followed the speedrunning scene of it but ive looked into some runs once in a while. And now we have a definitive documentation about the entire history, awesome. Keep it up man, youre doing a good job and if some runners and other contributors are reading this as well, keep it up too! You guys are fantastic. (also the used music in 44:36 isnt in the google docs and funnily enough is the only theme i dont know about, can someone recognize it for me? That would be cool)

Brother, this doccumentary was freaking awesome! I usually don't like this type of content, but his was a masterpiece
Amazing work. Liked and subbed!
Love your videos they are always great to see
10:50 is why i like speedrunning. The amount of dedication and Theory crafting people do is just so fun Bro how do you even do that skip ringrush did. Its unreal how much movement you have to memorize for that. It looks like two simple jumps but you can see all the small movements in between, the amount of perfection you have to pull off is ridiculous. I mean to be fair just finding out what movement you need is already absurd
Already know this is gonna be a masterpiece! Edit: It absolutely was!
Very well done. Awesome video!
Welcome back. Thank you for the video. Please make more.
I enjoy these kind of videos mostly because of the technical explanations. Please don’t skip them
This is exactly the type of content that the speedrunning community needs.

You arent Summoning Salt... So i guess ill watch and sub! Awesome to see another high quality speedrunz covering channel. Looking forward to more content.
Fantastic video dude, really on the level of Summoning Salt. You find some time to post more often and you'll be on top of a growing trend with speedrun history videos
I've been waiting for this for a really long time. Been asking for a banjo Kazooie/ tooie Record video would be awesome
Missed the Premiere but I'm so glad to see you back
Comparing Donkey Kong 64 to "War and Peace" JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE BOTH VERY LONG is literally the most fucking hilarious and stupid thing I believe any human has ever done. You just KNOW that dude was struggling through that book for his 90s literature class in college, but to compare it to that is so funny it hurts lol.

Amazing document on the history of speedrunning this.
A very nice addition to my collection... Thank you man, I really come to love those history of speedrunning videos...
Alright I’m subbed and commenting and liking this video in hopes it allows your channel to grow and you make more videos (do history of link to the past speed runs next please)
To explain the "Lag makes you Go Fast." Delta Time. This is where the game says "OK. I am SUPPOSED to render X Frames per Second. How, long has it been since I rendered a Frame? Am I rendering at the Proper Pace?" If the next frame of Animation would be faster than the Target FPS, then the game will "Slow" the character. This Rarely happens, but it can. If there's a lot of Lag, that increases the Time to Render the next frame and, "Go Fast." happens to maintain a Consistent "Speed" for the player. Unfortunaly, Rareware, didn't quite do this right, and things, break when Delta Time says "Go Fast." Because of the speed gained, things like, Collisions, don't have a chance to process or if they do, it's too late. The Character has gone beyond the collision areas.
Man, I wish you would have continued to make videos like this Connor.
I love DK64 and glad now that my favorite game of all time has such a dedicated speed running community , now we have a randomizer, long live 64
Glad to see your back!
Always hated this compared to the three kong countries for snes. It felt like all you did was fetch quests. Glad too see there were more ways to enjoy it. Im gonna go back on my wii u and give it another try. Thanks.
I remember trying to jump past the guy guarding the levels and actually getting it as a kid! Glitches where everywhere back then and I knew there had to be a way to cheese past him. I got it after a little monkeyin around.
Awesome stuff, being inspired by SummoningSalt and AverageTrey is about as good as it gets. You pulled it off too, great vid!
It sure was fun breaking this game in the early days.
Love the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon music. Love these videos!!
Love the use of One Ahead System on the RTA segment. SPEEEEEEED
Fantastic vid, i hope you can make a living off these fantastic videos. ❤
Took me longer to comprehend what was happening in this video than it did for these guys to beat the game!!!!
This made for a great sleep aid. I love video essays that are like lullabies.
Seeing these kinds of videos always blows my mind that people actually put in so much time, effort, and patience to play these games as fast as possible (like in 24-25 minutes here). I jokingly tried to run Banjo Kazooie as fast as I could with no glitches and that was nearly 7 hours lol. Great stuff these videos are. By the way, what was the music used at 44:35? It sounded so epic but I don't see it on the included Google Doc timestamps, and I'd really like to hear it alone and clearly!
UNDERRATED LEGEND COMES BACK WITH ANOTHER BANGER W🗣🔥‼
