    Great video for small content creators and I wish I had this back when I was starting. I was so mad because I had great content but wasn't getting any attention. 1000 subscribers was mission impossible. I was lucky when I found out I can boost my channel with initial subs just enough to start getting noticed. I got myself first couple of hundred subs for very low price (I have personally used a bit of Famester). After that my main channel gained a ton of organic traffic.

    Today you can just use youtube promotion for that... Again something Vidiq tells you not to do... but it works! My only two pieces of advice to anyone starting youtube today: 1. Give your channel a boost with KZread promotions 2. Blame the algorithm if you believe in your content.... Keep improving your content, but focus on what the algorithm likes first, what your potential audience likes second It's the complete opposite of what Vidiq keeps saying, but it's the only way to grow a small channel on youtube today.

So if I can help fellow creators not make that mistake I will... I went from a dead channel with 500 subs to a fast growing channel with 1.5K subs in just one month time, with the only big change being the things I mentioned and which are in fact quite the opposite of what Vidiq had been teaching me (and everyone) all this time... I just wish Vidiq would see their mistakes and I very much hope I can be of help to some fellow creators stuck on youtube doing what they think is best because they assume Vidiq knows what small channels face today (which they don't, I'm afraid).

    One thing i've personally noticed from all this info, is that these strategies do work, but only if you have a channel that is about something. Like this channel--it's about KZread growth. The other guy's channel is about personal finance. It's about something that already exists and people are already interested in. That seems to be the only way to grow on KZread. If you're doing something completely original like uploading your own music, there doesn't seem to be any way to grow except for luck, even if you implement different things like music theory videos, vlogs, or how to videos. It just doesn't work, or maybe it takes twice as long. All i know is that with consistent uploading, and trying out different kinds of videos on top of my music, i have experienced no growth at all. So much so i'm convinced my channel may be dead. So it seems to me that you have to make your content about something that already exists and talk about that, which makes sense obviously, but it's still info that doesn't doesn't really apply to that small group of people making original content. For example, if i were to make my channel about playthroughs or covering popular songs, that would get me exposure. But trying to grow your own music on this site is damn near impossible, at least for me. And that's always been a strange notion to me because they say KZread is the second biggest music discovery platform. Apparently. I'd love to see more videos about how people making completely original content can grow. Regardless, still grinding and working at it!

    I've posted about a similar feeling but with a podcast.. it's like I have to make a channel about how to build things then tell those followers to check out the podcast.. but I don't want to build things anymore I just want to talk to interesting and or funny people and therefore entertain and maybe even educate through those discussions..

  • @martinvarga130

    @martinvarga130

    Well these contents like music and podcast are really hard to grow. Music discovery is happening on spotify or on youtube as well but not how you imagine. You are doomed if you try to upload music and .. and done, that's all your strategy. You have to get onto popular playlists and THEN you will be discovered. It doesn't even matter how good your music is. It can be a generic shitstorm like almost every lofi and ambient track. If it's on a popular playlist then you made it. It's not a lone wolf business. Earning money by making music is one of the hardest thing. If you want money then start with stock songs (epidemic sound and these kind of stuff) or try to get onto playlists. I think podcasting is the other difficult topic because most of the people wants instant entertainment, fast content, exciting videos etc. A podcast is the opposite. It's slow, long content which makes it hard to sell. A lot of people who makes podcasts, made exciting, shorter videos before and became famous by that type of content. I would not start a 'podcast only' channel or a 'music only' channel. First you have to present your personality by a more exciting way. In Hungary (where I live) there is a metalhead guy named Radics Peti who is really passionate towards music. Peti has more then 900k subscribers and mostly make dub parody videos. He made 2 metal albums and even with this level of visibility he could get around 10-30k views on each of his songs. So I would not recommend this formula if you want to sell your music. In this case geting onto playlists is the way to go. However Peti would be able tomake a really successfull podcast channel because he is funny and interesting person. However by being an interesting and funny person does not make your music sold. It requires a totally different aproach.

    Just a theory, I think it's easier to become a small audience content creator and then transition to music (as one of many things you do), then to do music and try to support it with making content. I will know by December since that's what I'm doing this year.

Some even 150-200%, I actually even have a short with over 2000% retention (no clue how that happened... suppose someone fell asleep with that short on repeat??). But none of them did amazing.... The algorithm does not care about audience retention at all if you're small.

  • @bbreak

    @bbreak

    6 ай бұрын

    The solution is: BLAME THE ALGORITHM.... Ignore what Vidiq keeps saying, the algorithm hates you. Not because of you, not because of your content, but simply because you're a small channel... It will automatically assume your content must be mediocre at best and people will probably not like it... No matter how long people watch it, how many likes, comments or subs it gets, the algorithm is stuck in a firm believe no-one will like it because you're a small channel... That's the issue with self-learning software, they can draw the most ridiculous conclusions based on the numbers and inf you don't watch it closely you won't know... Vidiq misses it completely, old experienced creators miss it, even youtube itself seems to not be aware of it (yet) even though it is slowly destroying the whole platform... But small channels know, even if they're not aware of it yet (like you)... There is a solution, though it still takes a LOT of time... And that's creating content for the algorithm first, not faor your audience first.... Make stuff the algorithm seems to like in a way where your audience will also like it to a degree. But it is, unfortunately, better to create content the algorithm loves and people don't really like over content a potential audience will love, but won't get to see because the algorithm hates it. I used to listen to Vidiq and my channel just died. I actually gave up on it. At that point I started doing what I thought best and ignored pretty much all Vidiq advice (because I had nothing to lose anymore) and I started growing, fast... Last week alone I grew with over 300 subs! By doing the exact opposite of what Vidiq has been saying all along.

When I should have taken ME and MY personal feelings or even what I think out of my productions. If I stick to logical testing and simply start providing something that has more value in it for my subs (like this guy) and stop allowing my insecurities/challenges destroy my mojo and belief in content…then I might actually get somewhere with the Tube which if I am being honest requires ONLY simplicity and a die hard tenacity to never give up👊🏻💯💨 hindsight is priceless just like this guys advice 😂🤙🏻🌱💨💨💨

    Nope! Nearly all of the advice in videos like this doesn't apply to new creators today. It's all outdated. And consistency isn't key at all on youtube today... Consistency can help, but it's just one of many tools in your toolbox to grow... By itself it won't do a thing to grow a channel or grow an audience. The biggest thing to grow on youtube today as a new creator is to always blame the algorithm IF you know your content is good (enough) and has an audience. The algorithm has grown into a monster that loves big creators and hates small channels. So start focusing your content on the algorithm first, audience second and you will see growth... Only when you've done this long enough to grow into a somewhat bigger channel you can start making content for your audience first and start applying the stuff that's being said in for instance this Vidiq video.

    I appreciate the advice and information. Consistency is key to having a successful and exciting channel, as well as trying to improve every single video. I have seen it with my channel in the last two weeks. Keeping up the grind and thinking of new ways to innovate it, to new levels.

    Consistency isn't key, it's just one of many tools to grow... it will not do much at all, if you're a small youtube channel today... Your focus should be the algorithm, the complete opposite of what Vidiq keeps saying... when I stopped listening to Vidiq I went from 5-6 new subs a week before to over 100 new subs on a single day this week...

    Hi I will download your app but I’m confused my views go from like 0-30 views on the first 3 hours and get a decent at least 10 likes but from there stop growing and after days won’t break 100 what can I do? I spend time on my videos and you can tell they are not bad quality also I take time into making good looking thunbnails

    first of all, by having fun folks! Of course, we have to mind the algorithm but don't become a slave to it and trust in your own uniqueness, there are a billion people in the world, better please "a few" that really appreciate you for what you do and how you do it, then trying to cater to what the masses might like. Small niches still have millions of people in it!

    You just enter the time code in the description. For instance if something interesting happens at 1 minute 30 seconds type "01:30 Something Interesting". When viewed in the description by a user it will have a link.

    I've been watching this and a few channels with the topic of growth. They all are quite suited to education and story and even maybe the Mr beast style.. but I'm struggling with really honing in on how to grow my podcast. As I'm trying not to niche but to be open to all interesting stories and conversations. But can not seem to get clicks. I try to do what I think are enticing shorts etc but they sometimes get 1k views mostly less than 20.. and I make 25 shorts recently and scheduled 1 a day and multiple on the weekends.. a lot seem to have 0 or 1 view.. does youtube not like scheduling or is the content just really that bad?

    Wow, you actually commented back! Sorry I did not see it on my notification, one of my shorts from two weeks ago is now gaining traction and it's booming! It's just like when I first started doing more KZread, where one of my videos from shorts got 100K views. It's nowhere near millions but I'll take it! This one is looking like it's heading to that direction! Thanks vidIQ, it's really interesting to see how putting your knowledge with my past experience helps! Still new to this, but I learned a lot from you as well! 🎉

    I'm totally with you here, being an annoying content perfectionist def holds me back & takes up unnecessary time. BUT this guest gave a really valuable tip when he said, and I am paraphrasing here, that he focuses majority of his attention on the first 5-6 mins. He aims to make this top-notch quality content, and then the last few mins you don't have to be "perfect" on (which will save a ton of time & frustration) because if the viewer has watched the first 5mins, there's a good chance they are "pot committed" to finishing thru that 8-min mark. Such a simple concept that makes total sense. Keep grinding my friend!

    My channel before I made my first upload was originally for educational purposes only but as a huge Jurassic Park fan too i noticed many people want a novel accurate adaptation that ive decided to work on, and i think some of my content is good but also much of it needs improvement in order to grow and make my channel more engaging for them and others who are interested in the project and any educational content I make in future. Any advice would be appreciated.
