I feel like the phantom was supposed to revolutionize the way night works, but really, it just added a new nuisance. Such a shame.

it's not even worth being called nuisance... - They announce them too early to catch you off guard - Their AI needs some serious work as they tend to get stuck on trees - If you have something above you, they cannot even attack - Massive body = big hitbox

It tries to attack and then grazed even the tiniest of things and is rendered useless, slow, weak and rare, has no good drop, makes horrible sounds and flies like a new born jiraff trying to stand.

"For only they can see, interact, and be attacked by the mob." I wish that's how it was. These things are ridiculiously annoying on servers, and attack every single player, whether they slept or not.

Not only do they attack every player that hasn't slept, but on realms you basically constantly deal with them. If you can't find a good multiplayer sleep data pack then you have to deal with them or make anyone exploring, mining, or grinding disconnect so everyone in their houses can sleep

@@baconx330 yeah, in fact it's actually a known prank to just... go afk for a while in a safe space, and since the phantom will attack everyone, your friends, and basically everyone else on the server will go mad, while you'll just be afking. Luckily the server I play on disabled phantoms in the main world(you can still get the achievement if you ask staff to get phantoms for you to kill, but they don't spawn normally)

Agent Smith Well, since no-one on big multiplayer servers will hop into bed around the same time, everyone in the server will be attacked by one. Doesn't matter if you don't see someone else's Phantom. You'll have your own one to deal with. So people trying to prevent this won't be able too, even if they sleep every night in the same bed.

TheNerdySoul I see what you mean, but wouldn't it only effect the people that sleep in different beds? That would make a lot more sense, the phantom only effecting the people that actually summon it. Kauflee (And TheNerdySoul) But if everybody gets into bed at different times, nobody will be able to sleep, because everybody in the game has to be in a bed to sleep.

@@neveragainlilhomie actually not anymore. the gamerule "playersleeppercentage" let's you change it to 1, meaning only 1 person is needed, granted it's a newish rule but still, and you're forgetting people on servers could sleep all the time and others never do, it just depends who's logged on.

a new super mode, just like normal mode but everything has better ai and some can even do things they wouldnt be able to do before, also you can change the difficulty just like normal mode

Phantoms really should have behaved more like jets then they do vultures Soaring through the sky at blazing speeds, able to catch up to even the most ridiculous of a players shenanigans instead, we get groups of them circling restless players, and slowly flying down towards them _imagine using a fishing rod to slam one into the side of a hill if it tried to swoop you while going mach 1_

They are remarkably easy to counter, as seen on the Hermitcraft server, where they were basically able to farm them just for a contest.

Imagine how cool would it be, to empathize the crazyness of not sleeping, your friends couldn’t see them. It’d make it a lot interesting

This was actually one of the best looking Minecraft videos I've seen. Tone of your voice, the style & animation.. all of it. Excellent !

@@georgikasarov3025 Ah yes, the giant blaze with shields made of fire, has special drops, can spawn outside of nether fortresses with a group of regular blazes, and has actual special attacks unlike everything else that has literally 1 except trident drowned. Yes, exactly as creative as, a flying mob that drops potion ingredients and elytra repairs, spawns exclusively as punishment for not sleeping in a bed, and attacks by running into you. The exact same level of depth as the king blaze.

Wow! Just, wow. This is a great video! I love the storyline type feel to it and the animations are amazing. Sadly most of these ideas didn’t make it, but they are still some of the best ideas I’ve heard. Thank you for this video!

Overall very well designed, but there's one critical flaw I see: it can *only* be an annoyance. Everything here simply makes it a burdensome chore to avoid the monster at all costs (even if that means hiding in a 1x2 hole), rather than playing out these undeniably interesting encounters. Adding a direct reward for beating the monster rather than just living both encourages players to interact with the monster and find new mechanisms to intentionally fight the monster.

I feel, instead of mobs that attack you if you don’t sleep, the player should suffer negative status effects that get worse the longer you go without sleep. Maybe increases in how quickly the player gets hungry, a decrease to movement speed and melee damage, etc.

I feel like what would've been a cool idea was if it was added to the ender family of mobs, Encountered rarely in the overworld but is a new challenge in the end islands but once the ender dragon is slain a message appears in chat in purple the "A vacuum of power has opened, something will fill the gaps" you then see the dragon egg lay atop the bedrock podium you try break the egg not knowing what you have caused, another message appears this time in red " A curse released, A debt payed, None shall rest, Until they are slain" you then get a new potion effect "haunting" symbolised with an eye of ender surrounded with a purple aura, after obtaining an elytra from the end islands, familiarising yourself with the new mob " The Phantom Of The End ", you head home, and in-place of the usual message from the Gods of this place the text is unintelligible accept for their last words "you are not worthy" unsure of what you have released upon the world wondering around the world, The little icon of an eye of ender staring down at you, taunting you, it has time indicating how long it lasts, you try drinking milk, only met with the message "You try drinking, but your body can't keep it down", it had no affect. So you carry on with your Minecraft life, you see Endermen lurking in the trees, when you go to attack them they disappear without a trace, when you're mining you see purple eyes, watching you from the darkness, you see silhouettes circling overhead, it's bird like shape going round and round and round, you push forwards and continue your adventure, night falls on the third day, you're getting used to it, an Enderman comes from out of nowhere, they're screech echoing from the plains, striking you for half your health, you look for the enderman only to be met with purple particle effects, it's gone. As make it to the daylight another message "As the sun rises from the third night those who seek you harm grow more restless...", the black silhouette, there it is again, that's what you think as in your time mining it emerges from the darkness, flying over your head, disappearing once again. When you stray to close to those purple eyes in the darkness of the forest, they leap out damaging you and teleporting away, in your house you here a scratching sound, like that of a silverfish, when wandering the plains you see endermen appearing and disappearing within an instant, as you use your elytra to sour through the sky, "Nothing can get me up here, safe from harm" you think to yourself, where the black silhouette flies past you at breakneck speed, then into you from the opposite direction, you start tumbling to the ground which could lead to a swift death for those not paying attention, but you manage to save yourself, re-starting your glide just before you hit the ground. The fifth night comes and you become more and more desperate, an attack from the end being a daily occurrence, as you try sleep through the night you here the screech of an enderman, their distorted speech, the sound of them teleporting the scratching sound of a silverfish, from your limited vison of the sleeping state you see the nausea effect, the sound of travelling to nether playing, suddenly it all stops with the booming sound of when you opened the end portal and the through the silence, the bellowing final noise of the enderdragon, you wake up in your house but it's... different, another message "All of this is a dream, But this, is your nightmare.", the minecraft track "Sweden" plays but distorted, Endermites seep from under your bed, endermen peer in from the windows and a giant phantom comes crashing into your house destroying it all you wake up again in your bed, "everything's normal" you think to yourself, knowing that's not actually true, nothing is normal, you fly and fly and fly as far away as possible, a phantom is soon on your trail, you need to use all your skills with the elytra to outmanoeuvre it, or should you say them, as two more phantoms join the fight, you dive into the water and the hover above you peering into the water, eventually they fly away. by the tenth night you have established a fully aquatic base, with a conduit, but your good fortune will come to an end as another message appears "All the forces of the end shall work against you until you lay dead" then enderman will teleport to your underwater base. attack you and teleport back to the surface, avoiding most of the damage of the water, you know this needs to stop, you need to finish this, undo what you did, so you go to the end using end crystals to respawn the ender dragon once it respawns you jump back into the portal fleeing back home, text scrolls down the screen "they came far didn't they?" " yes they did." "they were stronger." "now they hear us." "they couldn't live in stasis, in contempt, they came far just to fall." "it was a shame wasn't it." "it is free." "what is? "the ε*d.r 'r~;n, it reigns supreme" "stronger than us?" "stronger than us" "he surcome to the same fate as his ancestors, upon releasing the curse they lost all humanity" you then spawn in the overworld with the vision of an enderman, you truly came far, just to fall. jeez got a little carried away there, this is my idea, I don't think it should be exactly like this, just the base idea, like I said I got carried away, maybe just that somehow you get a curse then are pursued by ender creatures (including the phantom, which would now have a more end-like aesthetic).

Laughs in wings are needed because of the difficulty of the many bosses that get harder and harder in terraria (therefore a way to make the player be able to handle them is needed). They are not overpowered, they simply change your way of travelling and dodging boss attacks

This version would be less annoying... Why should I be attacked because someone else hasn't slept in a month?

Minecraft needs more bosses. Maybe we could see a boss that sits at the bottom of a whirlpool trying to draw in, or a boss made of stone like a stone giant or something. I just think we need more of them

Or this specific kind of phantom could spawn after 50 in-game days of no sleep, punishing you for never sleeping. Turbulence would be boosted by having it be 1 minute, as opposed to ten seconds, forcing you to stand your ground and fight the beast. If you dare try to fly away, instead of swapping your controls, the controls would, every other tick, change randomly. Those who stay will be transported to a dimension high in the sky, forced to fight. Nowhere to go except down. Turbulence still engaged. The monster will attempt to push you off the platform you rest on. Using wind and special greek fire fireballs. The green fire spawning from this never dissipates, unless you put it out yourself. It will send small versions of itself to fight you. Forcing you to be even quicker. Using a bow or a trident is the only way to damage it. It will never get close enough to hit it with melee. With half of its health gone, it initiates stage 2. This time turbulence is only applied if you stray too far. The monster will race you for superiority. But, you need to stay close to damage it. It will still fight you. It doesn't like playing fair. This time you can get close enough to hit it with a sword. It will bite you. It will still summon more phantoms. It still spits greek fireballs. it will attempt to push you back with the wind. Though, if you can beat it, 20 phantom membranes, 3 new phantom eyes, used for a flying speed boost potion called calmed winds, and 50 levels are yours.

I feel like the phantom should be local to the person not sleeping, not viewable to everyone in-game.

Fun fact: In the games code the iconic creeper painting is actually titled “Creebet” Which is probably a misunderstanding of the spelling of the word or simply just a double typo.

All jokes aside, these are some really good ideas !

I think when it turns day the monster should go hide in custom caves in tall mountains and wait there till nights comes around again. Also,there could be not just one of them resting in the cave and you should be able to go attack it if you find one but be cautious because of the amount of them might overwhelm you . You shouldn't be able to put a torch in their cave so they are instantly all stunned. There should be some sort of egg or reward in the cave if you find an empty one at night if all of them are gone for hunting. But they might come back to check on their cave at times as well. Theses caves should be creative with texture and designs to it. It should be at a high evaluation like I said on a tall mountain. This is just a cool idea I think would fit really well in with the monster and have some sort of base unlike other mobs besides witches huts which are kinda broken.

Man, this is way cooler than what we got. Phantoms are somehow simultaneously a massive nuisance and also completely useless. On a server, sleeping is not usually possible, so going outside at night just guarantees swarms of phantoms circling you, but they do almost nothing, and are useless anywhere with trees. The worst thing they've ever done to me is waste my food by repeatedly hitting me while I have high hunger but low saturation, but I didn't even run out with a tiny wheat farm alone.

Absolutely amazing animations, Sarc. And well put together points and suggestions.

I mean, the dream mechanic is actually something that Mojang brought to the table. Unfortunately, the way they had described it, to me sounded cool in concept but that there would be no way to make it not terrible in execution, that it would just be a nuisance. however, Sarc's version sounds so much more promising because of how much more manageable it sounds, rather than a punishment for using a basic functionality of the game that allowed you to skip what could be major annoyances and continue doing whatever you were doing if you felt like it. Yet there needs to be a lot of leeway with it.

night vision eyes would be useless because most people know how to edit their gamma settings and elytras shouldn't be that easy to get

Well apparently it works by killing one player which causes a prank war throughout the Hermitcraft server.

bro he makes phantoms sound amazing and terrifying, he should totally market new mobs in mob votes

two things: one: yes the elytra are insanely overpowered, but you dont get them until very late in the game. you also have to be ready to explore the end for hours to find one. two: this would discourage exploration seeing as you would get attacked for straying from your normal place and would die if you ran out of resources in your area. also, if you wanted to get like an elytra, you would lose it almost immediately when you return to the overworld, completely resetting everything that you did during your adventure this would make the phantom horribly unbalanced, and would make minecraft worse.

Did you forget about the light? Just place one or two torches and boom, the threat is gone as long as you stay in that range. This will encourage players to use torches when exploring at night

I feel the "Night Terror" Should destroy specific light sources that aren't 'blocks' Aka it should destroy torches only. How can it come to your house if you haven't slept if the torches stun it as soon as it gets close?

Actually, that was going to be part of the suggestion, where it destroyed 'cheap' light sources like torches. But I cut it because I just knew everyone would have hated it, haha I think having no way to get rid of them would have been really frustrating, so I made them super susceptible on purpose.

You told us about an upload. I was ready for it.... But not this ready XD As always awesome video, but also gotta give a thumbs up to the animation skills. Seemed like a lot of work went into it. FOR WIFI SAKE Yeah.. im not a mc conservator but I do think it would be the worst idea to put mods into vanilla. What I mean is that there is a reason people download forge and pick different mods to play with. And new features that are already existing mods (not saying pistons are bad) would make it worse (combat update example... Dual wielding and different damages, shield etc from a mod)
