How Shopping Habits Have Changed - Fast Fashion & Second Hand Trends - This is Not a Podcast w/ItsEm

Another week, another episode of our new podcast that isn't a podcast. This weeks is shopping habits, fast fashion and the death of the UK highstreet. Are you still shopping like you used to?
Check out Emma's channel here

Thanks for stopping by! If you haven't already, I'd love it if you'd subscribe and stick around. This channel is mostly beauty, lifestyle and chats but I do have other videos elsewhere - all linked below!
BUT FIRST, why not take a look at our shop? We hand make candles, wax melts and decor and we might be biased but the reviews say they're a little bit special!

Enjoying these! Not sure if they are all pre recorded but if not could you do one on friendships especially when you are an adult.

I love an empties video as it’s nice and useful to see what people really have enjoyed using. I’m trying to cut down as have one child at Uni and one potentially going in a year or two and it’s frigging expensive. My husband is a few years older, has a very stressful job and would like to retire earlier than 67 so we’re also trying to be mindful of that too. I think you guys have hit the spot for me with these not a podcast videos though, great content and very relatable.

I’m 41 and I’ve lost it with shopping anytime I go into town there is nothing in store - online all the way! I just don’t have the need for all the things anymore I’d rather have experiences and trips. My fave thing about getting older is not giving a f@ck what people think anymore 😂

I think there are two counter trends at plat - one towards more sustainable shopping and the other driven by extreme consumption / shop like organisation on the likes of TikT@k. I was a shopaholic years ago, so I would be a complete hypocrite to comment on 'haul videos' or people buying from fast fashion brands, but i do think there is a responsibility to look into a brand's ethics (workers rights and sustainability). In terms of content, I like when both of you explore existing wardrobes, show daily life or talk about your own businesses (which FYI - bought a ton for wax melts and they are amazing)

I don't buy much or enjoy shopping much myself. I like Emma buy a lot from supermarkets, vinted or charity shops. I do shop online because I can filter what I want and its convenient. I just don't need that much. Trying to be a bit more sustainable where possible and buying good quality and better things.

I did some more research about the conditions of people who make the clothes for places like shein and it’s so awful I just can’t bring myself to do it. I just bought lots of things from unfolded where it’s all on pre-order and is made by people who get paid a decent wage and don’t have to work 20 hours a day.

Hi 👋 my name is Kate but I use my husband account lol, I have joined the not a podcast because I follow em and love her channel, I like shopping but I sometimes don't like anything in the store or I want everything I see which I can't buy lol, I think I am abit odd because from being a young girl I never cared what people thought I me and I if liked it that was all I cared about and as the years went by I became more bold in my clothes and now I am in the menopause I don't feel invisible, I feel more look at me ,I know what sorts my body shape, colours that look good and I have always been confident but for me it just gets better, so I say to every woman just do what sorts you, what you like and never be a sheep 🐑 be a butterfly because life is too short 😊

Shops are definitely cutting corners, cheaper fabrics, less seam allowance, and even pockets. Even for fast fashion a few years ago, it was better.
