you are the 1% of manual drivers who notice those little lags in rpm drops and hangs. Most don't even know what I am talking about when talking about rev hang. Good info

I just got an F10 6 Speed. Very Rare, I'ma young driver and I've only driven 5 Speed in cars like Corollas and Suzukis, the BMW feels different and your knowledge of Rev Hang really made me understand why I just suck at shifting smoothly in my F10 😂. Love the video bro

Found this video very helpful. Just got an e90, coming from driving a 5 speed civic, 5 speed frontier and a 4 speed F250. Other trick that I picked up on one of the forums was moving my seat an inch or two forward. Thanks!

I recently picked up an e90 328xi from Toronto and drove it back down to NYC. I wish I could express how much this video helped me. I've driven many manual transmissions but always found the e90 difficult. This video is an absolutely perfect explanation thank you

I get what you mean the revs drop quick in the e90...I usually just blip the throttle...if you're accelerating hard you can just shift normally

I came to the same conclusion. I "hang" the throttle just a little bit and it makes it really smooth.

I've heard that there is a clutch delay valve type thing on the clutch tine. It comes to a narrow passage that you can take off and apparently it lets the clutch move freely. Heard of this?

There was on my 2004 E60 540i 6-speed manual. I had a shop remove it and install a short shifter. Best mods I ever made to that car. Improved the clutch engagement dramatically on the E60.

My 95 Probe GT 5 Speed was easier to drive than my E90. I'm glad to have another manual transmission nonetheless. I think I'll delete the CDV later but right now I'm working with it stock.

Hi, how Do you downshift? Ease off the throttle a little and hold there during double clutch?

Clutch in. Rev car 1k higher than you were while shifting, ease clutch out.

My E90 does the same I changed the transmission fluid to MTL Redline and it now only happens every so often, almost never. Also putting it into 2nd and then going to 1st usually works if that happens.

The gearchanges are just poor compared to pretty much any other make of car. Shame really, but you learn to adapt and live with it for the sake of a nice car. Look up cdv- clutch delay valve. This is the reason for the notchy clumsy changes. Its designed to protect the transmission from poor manual drivers. A lot have deleted the cdv. But if you don't want the hassle- this guys video is as comprehensive as can be
