Trump declassified a lot which is why the commies and dictators are having temper tantrums. Commies and dictators tried to under mine the status Quo (International Rules Based order) so Trump more or less made the commies and dictators gas-light themselves. One of the things I remember Trump saying about C C P in 2017 "they almost got away with it, but we never shared how to make a jet engines or a semi conductors with china..." Rest assured there is bi partisan support for anti communism and autographs as well as semi conductors to C C P his reply was "we will not allow anyone to use our technology against us" (USA has learnt its lesson after the Soviets bought USA nuclear technology)

Many Americans especially the political elites in White House are sick with THV ( Tonya Harding Virus).. , When you want to run faster you have to train your stamina , your muscle ...instead your American way of fair competition is to try to break competitor's knee. USA already lost. He did not get the memo. The 5nm chip has already been launched in the Huawei Pura series and its going to be with the Mate70 series this September. The technology used came from Harbin Institute of Technology that help SMIC to set up the 7nm and 5nm production line. The technology is available for 3nm also. In fact future AI chip, China may migrate them to photon chip, name Taichi, although the 5nm is already good enough. Apparently the Ascend chip from Huawei is as good as the Nvidia A100. What else? China is going to flood the world market with cheap advance semiconductor chip, perhaps in 2 years. Its over for USA. For Taiwan. For Japan. For South Korea. For the Dutch. Its over.

Nowadays, China leads in almost all critical technologies. The Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI) is one of the largest think tanks in the world and advises the Australian government and defense organisation. They made a research for many, many years. They investigated how China is doing in the field of innovation, in the field of critical technologies. And they analyzed the 44 most critical technologies in the world and tried to figure out where China and the US and every country in the world are, number one, number two, number three, number four, number five. The result they came to was that China in 37 out of 44 areas of critical technologies, is leading in terms of innovation. They Are ahead of the US, ahead of the rest of the world. They have even established a monopoly on 8 of these technologies. Nowadays, think about electric batteries. And there's many others. While the US is only in 7 areas still in a leading position. The reality is that China is a leader in almost every technology or critical technology in the world.

Free market and globalization was good for the USA, as long as it held onto technology dominance and could continue to exploit developing countries. The moment it found out that China outplayed the USA in free market competition and that developing countries preferred to deal with China, the USA decided against globalization and started to set up tariffs and sanctions. It then started to whine about unfair trade practices and overcapacity when it's really about America's inability to compete with China.

True free will is to be like China, even if it is invaded by eight industrial countries at the same time, suffers more than 200 years of war, and lags behind the West for more than 100 years, it still has the confidence and ability to rise again under the rules dominated by the United States. At present, the United States is still ahead of China on the whole, only slightly behind China in some areas, but it has obviously lost its confidence in competition, pinning its hopes on China's lagging behind and stopping China's development by all means. If you can't afford to lose, don't play the game of free trade. The real root cause is that the Ponzi scheme of raising interest rates from the US dollar has made the United States completely uncompetitive in industry.

This is a well balanced view looking at how best to work and compete with China. Chinese government have systematically adjusted and adjusting their policies to provide a sound foundation for small companies to thrive. Like good parents who encourage their kids to go out, learn a skill, make friends, learn their cultures and do business with them vs protective parents who shield their kids from competition, praise them for minimal effort rather than push them to achieve. When they go out to the real world, found themselves lacking in all areas and now the parent is doing even more to close off competition. Sooner or later, the skill gap is so huge that the kids are completely depending on the parent to survive.

I do not think this is the coorect comparison . The Us was ahead of everyone else at almost everything , decided to desindustrialize because their capitalists wanted to remove power from the working class by moving the industries elsewhere and increase the value of their capital by reducing demand , but China does not have to deal with the crap of their bourgoir that they have control over , and thus it started surpassing the US at everything , not having the captalists in power is the real difference between China and the US , because the US has absolutely no problem to cach-up with China.

Removing the capitalists from power in a revolution , because it was the capitalist elites who weakened the US on everything , because the pre-prefinacialization US would be able to cach-up to China, but since reindustrialization means giving more power to the working class , the elites will never allow the US to reindutrialize.

this gentleman is a rare breed in the elite circle of the US governing class. two point here i would like to point out. 1, geopolitics 101: there are 2 kinds of political orientations. of 99% of the nations on planet earth their national leaders are domestically focused. but US is the exception. its hegemonic position demands its leaders to overstretch to every corner of the world - meddling here and there - in order to safe-guard US interest (not for the ordinary folks but for the very few rich and powerful). this is the DNA of the american politics that will never change as long as it can keep its top dog status. conclusion: from other nations point of view seeking corporation with the US is next to impossible bcoz corporation means "give and take" on issues that all parties have to make compromise. from the US point of view there is always "my way or highway" - bcoz that is "winner takes all" mentality of the individualistic american psychic! 2, economics 101: US dollar has to be strong - mostly artificially. not bcoz of its world reserve currency status (this requires it to be stable) but rather US has entered the phase of financial capitalism historically. the value of its wealth is all tied up to the denomination of the US dollar. any weakening of the dollar means two things: first, the shrinkage of the personal wealth of the American ruling class; second, the financial tools to exploit the world will become obsolete gradually. and that, is totally unacceptable!

But now (6 years ago) Huawei is too strong, it will be a challenge but when we are out of it we will be much stronger and more resilient than we could ever be. Huawei never wanted to manufacture chipsets, we wanted Win Win cooperations but now USA has made 1.4 billion people and entire tech sector to compete with US tech from design to manufacturing. Surley this should be very well known by US businesses and gov. This is self harm on global scale...

The only option the U.S. can win the chip war and all other wars over China is to ban everything Chinese -- e.g., smartphones, 5G, 6G, photovoltaic cells and equipment, facial recognition system, drone technology, robotics, quantum cybernetics, battery technology and battery management system, electric vehicles and new energy vehicles, etc. The concern over "national security risk" is very useful, and very convenient as well as very effective, in all cases.
