Cool to see a young man stepping up to a challenge and taking it seriously and cool of your mentor to set that challenge before you.

Nico is a good presenter. Clear thoughts, good explanation, a different pace. You two complement each other well and should take turns.

Great video, clear subject, direct and to the point. Really well spoken presenter. Never said shitweazel even once. It really clarified the relationship between priming and bibcard notes for me.

Oh Nico -- well done!! I am in the thick of fitting the system to fiction and this is a concise and thorough look at the output-driven nature of WHY we read and how we process --> Bravo! (and, HEY, is that Mr & Mrs Smith guarding the books?? )

Awesome insights. Looking forward to more from this collab and also to the intellectual wonders that will come out of your system. BTW did you check out Umberto Eco's How to Write a Thesis? It has some valuable albeit vintage material, mainly on bibnotes.

Woops my comment from earlier must have lost in the ether. Nico: I love your desk setup! I plan to make a new workspace next year where I can include more greenery. It's a bit hard with parrots - they chew on my cards as well, but the plants also kill them. ':D Scott: please credit Nico in the video description, well deserved credit for this good content! Until then: Nicolas Gatien, www.youtube.com/@nicolasgatien7283 :)

@@Elisha_the_bald_headed_prophet I tried edible plants, basil and such, but they don’t politely chew on the leaves and let them regrow, but go directly for the stems and buthcher them, killing any plant in an afternoon. They are teeny-tiny agents of destruction. XD With my husband we plan to declutter and reorganize a small room in the house after the holidays so I’ll have a nook with a door where the little grim reapers cannot follow me. ‘:D

While I admire the detail on source selection, it becomes more clear from videos I see related to Zettelkasten that this system is more a job than actually producing bodies of work. Look at Ryan Holiday, he's publishing annually by just putting notecards in a shoebox that are categorized by topic/theme. Everything else is done by actually writing a book.

For trite biz-pop books, go with category-based knowledge systems. For paradoxical, deep knowledge, go with an Antinet Zettelkasten.

@@scottscheper I'm talking about the results more than the systems. Nassim Taleb doesn't use Zettelkasten, for example. Just notebooks. I haven't seen anyone who have produced valuable work with Zettelkasten. Even the creator of Zettelkasten itself is a footnote compared to the great minds of his time... who used commonplace books. Again, I'm looking at who is delivering valuable intellectual output more than the systems they use, which seem to be extremely varied but still simple.

Actually, the Zettelkasten originator is much more than a footnote.
