At that time there were great stalwartsin Rabindra Sangeet......people were not happy that Satyajit Ray is getting the song sung by someone who was into commercial songs. But when the film the film was released people were awed at the result. This was Satyajit Ray!

That's why his parents named him satya-jeet enforcing RAY! He had proved his metal to the whole world many times over that Indian was known for even in those old Hindi Filmi Days!

It seems that Kishore Kumar had even given a loan once to Satyajit Ray to complete one of his films. Kishore Kumar's own composition in Door ka Raahi was based on Ravindra sangeet- panthi hoon main- what an amazing song that was.

At some point Kishore Kumar sang many Rabindrasangeets all of them were great hits.

2 Best Hindi Comedy Films I have ever liked are by KK - Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi & Padosan - out of this world that nobody can repeat the level of performance he has given! Mastereos like Satyajit Ray & even Pandit Bhimsen Joshi also had appreciated his invaluable voice & range - too sad that artificially referred very great(!) Naushad failed to even acknowledge KK - may be bcos he had married a Muslim Madhubala!

Rabindra sangeet is such a genre of music which suits only those singers professionally trained and performed flawlessly in it over a reasonable period of time till acceptance by the public at large. KK had no such credentials.. so what worked for its public acceptance was the SR I.e Satyajit Ray factor in getting this song recorded in the voice of KK thereby opening up his scope of singing Rabindra sangeet.. thus credit goes to the great legend SR!👍
