Ethylene Oxide (ETO) is banned in Europe and this means imports must not contain ETO. A few years ago sesame seeds from India were banned because of ETO. I hope the same diligence is applied to spices and other nuts/seeds.

Yes sir☺️🙏 The EU enforces stringent checks and controls to prevent contaminated products from entering the market. For instance, the issue with sesame seeds from India highlighted the importance of these controls, leading to enhanced monitoring and testing. This diligence is expected to be applied consistently across all food imports to maintain safety standards. There are certain companies which still produce adulterated curry powders. *So we should purchase it carefully.* Indeed, purchasing curry powders and other spices with care is important to avoid adulterated or contaminated products. *Here are some tips to help ensure you are buying safe and high-quality spices:* *Buy from Reputable Brands:* Purchase spices from well-known and reputable brands that have stringent quality control measures in place. *Check for Certifications:* Look for certifications such as ISO, FSSAI, or organic certifications, which indicate adherence to certain quality standards. *Read Labels:* Check the packaging for detailed ingredient lists and information about the origin and processing of the spices. *Look for Batch Numbers and Expiry Dates:* Ensure the packaging has clear batch numbers and expiry dates, which can be important for traceability and ensuring freshness. *Buy Whole Spices: When possible, buy whole spices and grind them at home. This reduces the risk of adulteration, as it's harder to tamper with whole spices compared to ground ones.*
