Hello everyone! I'm Jogender Sharma, your Eye Health Counsellor, and today we are going to explore the world of Specs Removal eye surgeries, specifically focusing on the newly launched SILK laser surgery by Johnson & Johnson in India in September 2023.
SILK laser surgery, which shares similarities with the SMILE laser surgery (launched by Carl Zeiss) available in India since 2012, and CLEAR surgery (launched by Ziemer) in 2019, has been creating a buzz in the eye health community. But what makes SILK stand out from the rest?

Keratoconus me vision correction ka koi khas ilaaj nahi h. Hard Contact lens se he aapko best vision (6/6) tak pil skta hai. Lenses ya glasses nahi lgana chahte toh ICL surgery karwa skte ho pr usme aapko waisa hi dikhega jaise chashme se dikhta h, vision bilkul saaf hona muskil h.

I would choose Epi Contoura for myself only if I need to appear for some medical test and if my cornea is found to be thin. If my cornea if okay, I will choose SILK, as it is better than Epi Contoura in all other aspects.
Sir my eye power is -8.25 dr.rahil sir advised me ICL,Now that silk procedure is available can my power corrected with silk. Is Indian doctores doing this procedure for till -12 power

Hi, if ICL was recommended for that power then it means you probably don't have enough corneal thickness for any laser surgery. You are unlikely to be eligible for SILK. You should contact the hospital and check with them if SILK is possible based on your previous reports.

SILK is a better option than Contoura Vision in many aspects. So, suppose your corneal thickness of 510 is adequate for vision correction on both Contoura Vision & SILK.

SMILE pro is certainly better than its previous version SMILE. But most of the eye hospitals that previously had visumax machine are now shifting to Elita machine (that performs SILK) not SMILE PRO as the advancements in SILK are much more promising.

It's completely normal. Sabhi surface ablation surgeries me recovery thodi uncomfortable rahti hai. Ps patiently time do isko. 2-3 week me recovery ho jaegi aur fir lifetime me kabhi koi problem nahi hogi. Long run me Epi Contoura is best surgery.

SMILE Pro is also a good option but I haven't seen Refractive surgeons being so excited about any surgery like they are for SILK. In my opinion, SILK is better in Option
