@@MrProthall that's not necessarily true, he simply doesnt like backstories that he feels doesnt have much relevance to the plot, which is why he hated Noland's. well THAT and the excess of exposition.

I don't get why people criticize the Foxy arc. The non-filler parts are some of the funniest in One Piece. It's a rare and refreshing break in a series where arcs can span over 100 episodes. The arc showcases funny character interactions, introduces unique and entertaining challenges. After intense arcs like Skypiea, the Foxy arc provides a much-needed breather before diving into more serious storylines imo

I think it’s biggest problem is the placement. I loved Skypeia - but it dragged a little for me with the death game, then there was G8- which while hilarious did also drag the finale an episode or two too long. So by the time you get to Long Ring Long you’re ready to get back into classic One Piece. Then it also adds extra filler with annoying characters until the point you’re frustrated. You then had to sit through more filler (which I actually also enjoyed) before you get to Water 7. I was binging, so it wasn’t too bad, but if I was watching week-by-week I would have lost my mind. If it was in another part of the story it probably wouldn’t be as strongly disliked

The next canon arc, Long Ring Long Land, does have some filler, but you'll also probably get people telling you to skip the whole arc. These people do not get the point of the arc.

Which point? It would be good filler, it's horrible canon. And just for a goof with Boa causing Luffy to think slow-slow beam, that arc is WAY to long. Cut it in half, it would be fun and enjoyable.

​@@MrProthallSpoilers for the next few arcs, though I'll try to keep it vague: LRLL sets up everything for the next few arcs that follow. LRLL is the haha-funny version of what happens in W7. No one thinks we'll lose Chopper in LRLL, but it plants the seed which then pays off in W7. Many hype moments of the W7 saga are seeded or foreshadowed in LRLL, specifically during the Foxy fight. If you don't think LRLL is relevant, I'd encourage you to read it again specifically with W7 in mind and how character interactions and reactions are mirrored in the latter arcs of the saga.

a lot of the fanbase hate long ring long island, but i hope you wont let them convince you to skip it. it gets unnecessary hate and is actually a fun arc

For the DBF part, if you take 16 chapters and make 30 episodes with it (the DBF anime and the G8 filler), it's obvious that everyone will fell bored by the anime adaptation. The best way to enjoy it is to read chapters 303 to 318 then come back to episode 227.

The idea that you can’t love One Piece if you don’t love all of it is ludicrous. It’s one of my favorite stories of all time and there are plenty of things that drive me absolutely nuts. It’s just that all the other stuff so totally outweighs it

So excited for G8, Water 7 and Enies Lobby.

The log-pose updates on each island differently it has to stay on an island for X amount of time (varies from island to island) to "get used" to its magnetic field, and then point towards another island. Remember that at Little Garden it was going to take a long time to set up? They were able to use an Eternal Pose instead, if not the Strawhats would still be there lol. Before reaching Jaya, the log-pose was pointing to the Skypiea, that's why they were not able to stay in Jaya for long (and well, another reason was the ascending water current). If they stayed in Jaya for long, the log-pose was going to lose Skypiea. Now they spent some time on Skypiea, and apparently that time was enough to update (taking into consideration that the log pose already was "fixed" to Skypiea since before Jaya). Since the G8 is not cannon I don't think it is pointing to it haha but honestly it does not matter haha next island please!

If the log pose pointed them at the sky in the first place why WOULDN'T it update in the sky? Not like it just stopped working in the sky, the log pose is the whole reason they knew something was up there in the first place

Skypeia is an island that it pointed to, so the logpose updates after you stay there long enough

You're not alone, Nerdy. I love One Piece and still hate the fake out deaths. Luckily, I read the manga and only watch the anime once in a blue moon nowadays. They aren't nearly as annoying to read in the manga, compared to watching them in the anime. In the manga it's only a panel or two which you can read past in a few seconds, while the anime often drags those scenes out for half a minute or more. It's even worse if the fake out gets used as a cliffhanger and you get to watch the 'death' again at the start of the next episode.

Agree! I've only read the manga and have only been "watching" the anime through reactions. I've never felt the pacing issues in the manga. Some arcs are certainly long but usually by the time I feel "geez, this is getting on" in the manga, it's wrapping up and usually I'm sobbing and reeling from a lore drop. Feels like the anime draws out all of the less appealing aspects of the manga. (I really liked Foxy and Long Ring Long Island in the manga. they're super quick and fun).

Enel moon thing is explained further in cover stories. It would've been a cool anime episode. They fucked up not doing more cover story episodes

I can confirm that pacing is MUCH better in the manga. Unfortunately Toei is notorious for adding unnecessary filler arcs and padding out episodes with back n forth reaction shots or repeating flashbacks. It’s so bad that, at the time of me writing this, we are at chapter 1119 and episode 1111 (not including the “special” episodes). That is insane! We should be at roughly half this number at most.

5:15 - Chopper got to party twice, beat a Priest and steal treasure with the gang, he had plenty of fun.

here's the thing, the conflict between the Shandians and the Skypeians was those who served under Gan Fall and Wyper specifically. the citizens of Skypeia did nothing to the Shandians and the same can be said about Wyper, though he did say to Gan Fall that he should sacrifice 100 lives for what he did and Gan Fall was like "F U, i'll use your Vearth to grow Pumpkins.", but ultimately it's time to let go of old hatreds, because they survived what was almost the end for both their peoples, and there is no longer a reason for the Shandians to want to protect their land so ferociously anymore as the secret of the Poneglyph is safe up there.

There are cover stories about Enel landing on the moon that can be worth checking out eventually

I disagree that Gan Fall messed up last time as God. He approached the Shandia to try and negotiate peace, in good faith. If Enel hadn't turned up, I'm pretty sure he'd still be trying to bring the two peoples together. Minor spoilers for the future of Skypiea... The Skypieans and Shandia work together really well - Wyper and his buddies become Gan Fall's head priests, Gan Fall and the unnamed Shandia chief are buddies growing pumpkins, there's a theme park themed around rubber bands, and Nola gets to hang out with everyone.

I think it’s great that Gan Fall gets his position back. He has a lot of regrets and he tried to do the right thing. I also think that Wyper needs to grow more before being a leader. So far he never took the time to understand the people around him. He also might be too hot headed to be a leader.

Personality I'm not a huge fan of G8 but I hope you enjoy it my dude. I can not wait for Water 7 though. I don't want to over hype it but these couple of arcs coming up will change you as a person 😂

interesting thing about the manga vs this episode. In the manga the Going Merry lands and basically just goes “2 weeks later” vague segue, so it’s kinda genius for a filler to be about where they landed.

They haven't covered it the anime AT ALL so no spoilers here! Cover pages in the manga show that Eneru MADE it to the moon and found aliens! He's chillen, freeing a society of cyborgs that's being hunted by a different race of aliens, learning about One Piece space!

My headcanon is that that kind of octopus can, when not being jumped on by a rubbery crackhead, control the gasses inside itself. That allows it to eventually gather more lightweight gasses and float back home!

you say that the end result would be just as impactful without Nolands story, I disagree, seeing what type of people, how they lived, the differences and controversy's of each of their worlds and on top of it being able to become close friends really sets a mood you didnt have before, because you didnt know they were close, you dont know the who what or where without the story and now it makes the bell very important to ring not just for cricket but now an entire other group of people, and the bell symbolizes that the worst is over IMO not just for the sky people but for cricket and the shandorians. Without the story it just kind of feels like the bell was rung for cricket and you have no context as to why the shandorians were so happy to hear the bell ring too, almost like the rain in Alabasta

You need to read the Enel Cover stories, Anime never animated it, Its kinda important stuff

Next arc is probably the only filler arc I recommend not skipping. IMO it's better than the canon long ring long island arc, but watch whatever you want to watch.

My headcanon for the octopus is that they migrate to the blue sea to breed and the little ones float back up to the sky.

I just wanted to say that I loved the Foxy arc. I had a lot of fun and got a kick out of it.

Fully agree on the Gan Fall thing, it was weird seeing them choose him as the leader. At the very least, it should have been a two-leader thing, Gan Fall *and* the Shadian elder or even Wyper, like you said, symbolizing working together and that both factions would have a say in their future together. It's a strangely recurring thing in One Piece, if I'm honest. For a show about a bunch of pirates who pride themselves in fighting for being free and anti-establishment, they sure are experts in getting all the kingdoms they visit to reinstate their previous rulers and return to the original status quo. It had already happened in Alabasta and now Skypiea. I'm aware that the previous rulers are never depicted as the villains, but it still is a very conflicting message.

I think fair critisims of Skypia overall. I would also rank it in the middle overall, though I uave the benefit of hindsight. Excited for the next stretch of story!

I think the logpose should update as if they stayed in Jaya since they have been around part of that island.

@nerdydaily G8 is less pointing and more of they being "blown off course". And affected? Probably not (the time to "log" is very arbitrary). In the end, it is just a "plot hook" for the DM to point the party to the main story mission.

No worries, Toei does a lot of flashbacking to pad time... Flashbacks that are actually important if the thing happened 300 episodes ago. Which translates to roughly 6 years, LOL Edt: I really hope that the "Remaster" of One Piece will solve all the pacing issues that Toei baked into the anime

G8 is a filler arc but its honestly some of the best OP filler. After that is Long Ring Long Island. It is part cannon, but the extend it and put in so much filler it feels like it drags on. Even more so than the rest of the anime. But some part are good or super funny. But its definitely my least favorite arc and the very end is super important leading into Water 7/Enise lobby which are some of the best parts of the series.

I hate to break it to you Nerdy but the G8 doesn’t actually exist anymore in our world (they kicked out Russia so it’s the G7 now)

Has anyone told Nerdy to watch one pace? is more like the manga and also reduces all the pacing errors from the anime and if he wants to watch the fillers, he can do it by himself but enjoy the real episodes without the slow pacing and enjoying more.

No time to watch the reaction rn, but there's always time to recommend Nerdy watch movie 6 right after G8. G8 is fun, but placing it between Skypiea and the next canon arc was a mistake imo.

Don't skip the G8 arc thats next its a great orginal filler arc and the foxy arc its just a silly funny arc.

A lot of One Piece fans love this filler arc, so it could be good for your channel to watch it. I'm not a big fan of it though, I don't hate it, I guess I just don't value filler that much unless it's shorter than 2 or 3 episodes. The arc after that might feel like filler because it's more comedic, but I think if you know it's comedic you will enjoy it more. Plus it's not that long... pun not intended.

Wait until u have to skip to minute 7-10 on each episode because of the Recaps, n u only have like 12-15 min of just the episode. We get it, u will surfer n people will get mad but understand. Must of the fandom has come to love Arcs years after seeing them because of the pay of on later Arks. The anime will keep evolving on many way specially artistically the animation become one of the best we ever had, n the writing just keep shocking u on the team it deals with n the level of building up. This is the Cosmier but all in one story, one it stars getting to that point u will understand. Please don't take personal if people get mad n just enjoy the show have fun n keep been u, n express ur thoughts as u wish. Also feel fre to hate on characters, I defend Sangi alot but he is a pervert, But is my opinion that is he is happy been a simp n be cheapy is ok so long he doest crosses the line (and everyone has the line on at different levels)

The anime's pacing is whack. Which is why I've never watched it. This is the most I've ever seen of the One Piece anime. I've been reading since 2001 though. Pacing is way better in the manga. Also, anatomy is more real in the manga. Still exaggerated, but much better. edit: Robin's dream is more tangible. You can see the Poneglyphs. You can't see Zoro becoming the greatest swordsman, just better. You can't see Sanji finding the All Blue until we get there. You can't see Usopp being a brave warrior of the sea; you can sometimes see Nami making maps, if Oda draws it; Chopper curing all diseases; Luffy becoming King of the Pirates. Robin's dream is physically in front of you, a hunk of rock you can't ignore.

Im nervous about nerdy watching the G8 filler. It's fun but overall pretty pointless. I dont think he'll love it. But at least once he gets to the Foxy Arc, Alabasta won't be his least favorite arc anymore 😅

I disagree about the "God" discussion. Enel was a dictator that took the title of Kami by force. They did not elevate him. I don't think the title of "Kami" had any religious meaning(except maybe to Enel himself), but you are making assumptions based on your own cultural experience, which is a big theme of the arc. I just don't think it is fair to believe they have to change the title of their ruler they have used for hundreds of years because of an invader. I do think this is confusing though because the actors are using both the words Kami and God which both mean god, but one is the title for their ruler, whereas Enel calls himself God Enel. I think they should have left Kami as Kami in the subs instead of translating it to God.

Oh boy. The reaction shots are only going to get worse from here.

everybody loves this filler? wow... i so didnt care about it. i mean theres some ok moments but knowing its filler made me think "ok well nothing that happens here matters because the state of the ship and its contents needs to return to where it was when they left skypia so....."
