This is hilarious to me. I live near Gervais. My friend used to talk to him on the same bus every week when he was a teenager (and said he was really friendly). I saw him walking down the road the other week dressed like shit, short and fat and wearing Nikes. 9 in the morning and I've never seen a man look happier. He almost actually had a skip in his step and he had this gentle smile of complete contentment. I can see how he's intimidating intellectually but it's funny imagining the juxtaposition.

Whitney Cummings did jokes on subjects at the roast that they were explicitly told not to do & Trump congratulated her on her performance. It was a punishment on a hostile press corps more than Trump getting pissy cause he turned the spoiler candidacy that Killary asked him to run to ruin the GOP primary into a Presidency cause she was too incompetent to listen to Bill and just do some campaigning in the Rust Belt which lost her the race by a fraction of a percentage point (107k across 4 states out of a population in excess of +330 million.) Trump was awful but Killary managed to be so awful and stupid that she pulled off the impossible by managing to lose to him (different than 2008 when Obama just stomped her out in the DNC primary for being awful)

Spasticity is a word used to describe a condition which cause muscle spasms throughout the body which can cause the persons arms or hands to some time curve and contort un an uncontrollable manner. This is usually caused by a disconnect between the brain and the central nervous system or damage to the brain and central nervous system. After such an injury and resulting issues one would most likely be considered disabled and then possibly offended by the term spaz

The word 'spastic' is a bona-fide medical term from generations ago. It describes conditions involving uncontrollable involuntary muscle spasms. Quadriplegia. Over time, the word gained negative connotations, shortened to 'spaz' and used as an insult and so dropped from fashion. It doesn't really have the same meaning today because of this, people younger than a certain age don't associate it with its roots and therefore the negativity.

Scope (charity) From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Scope (previously known as the National Spastics Society) is a disability charity in England and Wales that campaigns to change negative attitudes about disability, provides direct services, and educates the public. The organisation was founded in 1952 by a group of parents and social workers who wanted to ensure that their disabled children had the right to a decent education. Originally focused on Cerebral Palsy, Scope now embraces all conditions and impairment. Scope subscribes to the social model of disability rather than the medical model of disability - that a person is disabled by the barriers placed in front of them by society, not because of their condition or impairment.

Spasticity is a medical term to describe what happens to muscles that people with conditions like muscular dystrophy can suffer from. Maybe The Spastic Society called themselves that name to cover all conditions that cause spasticity to muscles. Then humans being humans used that term to “identify” themselves, ie “I am a spastic person” instead of I’m a person who suffers from spasticity of my muscles. Then other humans being humans took that identity marker and played with it, ie spaz, which could then me used either endearingly or derogatorily.

Impossible to finish this. Talking over the guest, and each other. Too many people for a podcast with everyone trying to have their 'moment'

Support for the 👌 Cheek Clappers Podcast 👌 comes from Blue Apron. Before Blue Apron, I would run completely nude through my neighborhood and eat literal 💩dog turds💩 off the pavement.I knew it was unhealthy, but cooking took so much time, y’know? Now, with Blue Apron, which sends you perfectly portioned ingredients and easy to follow step-by-step instructions every week, I can eat tasty, nutritious, home-cooked meals that can take as little as 5 minutes to prepare. Thanks to the Cheek Clappers Podcast since I´ve subscribed to Blue Apron, I only eat 💩canine craps💩 once or twice a month as a cheeky little treat! Blue Apron, a better way to cook.

Americans in Virginia Sep 2022 had a 9/11 menu [1st responder Flat Bread] that was taken down cuz of the disrespect. That was just 1 occasion, so americans should understand how the word "Spastic" might cause offence to some!!

Schulz is waaaaay off on this one -- the Brits are the ones who enjoy/welcome their most privileged being taken down a peg. Americans get bent out of shape. Example A: Ricky's first Globes. The institutional reaction was vicious

Yep, just look at all the historic cartoons which lampooned the aristocracy, politicians and even royalty at the time. The British have always preferred to punch up in thier humour (or at least do both) Examples of this are quite often in things like our sitcoms like Blackadder where although Baldrick is a common target of Blackadder's ire, those above him in the social circle (Melchett, Prince George etc) are often the butt of the joke.
