Also, what did you think of the video?! What's your opinion on the topic??? I'd love to hear it :) I'll be reading every comment.

TikTok has basically shadow banned me for calling attention to the theft and now my videos there get a fraction of what they once did. While the stolen content is still doing great. Obviously everytime I bring this up someone quotes the whole 'but MrBeast said steal my content' thing. Well when you aren't MrBeast and your content needs those eyeballs to pay for editors, that logic falls apart. Also the amount of people who think those accounts are me is insane. I regularly get congratulated by friends on a viral tiktok even when I haven't posted anything. What happens when these accounts start taking brand deals or using their identity theft to prey on fans? I've tried to get verified to at least put some kind of protection up here, but I've been denied every time. I'm represented by a big agency called CAA, even they have been told they won't verify me. These accounts are rapidly becoming bigger than my own. Seriously fuck TikTok. Anyways man. Thanks for the great video and insight.

There is nothing I hate more than the "but this already huge and successful creator said stealing is fine!" defense. The only reason they are saying that is because they are already so big that it doesnt hurt them and/or they steal themselves and want to justify doing it.

What's interesting here is that even if an animator spent thousands of dollars, years, got a group together, worked on this project with all their heart and soul If someone like Markiplier reacted to it, they would get all the views while having done no work while your animation sits in the hundreds. But youtube or tiktok or any of these sites have always been a popularity contest. it doesn't matter what you do, it matters how popular you are. People will defend popular people as if they knew them when they don't, as if the popular people cared about them which they don't. Some fans seem to defend popular people as if their lives depend on them for some reason. Which always kinda sucks. It would be nice if true good works would be promoted by the original creators on KZread. It would be nice if KZread never recommended popular people or reaction vids. Give other people a chance.

The payout from these platforms has always been a concern of mine along with the promotion of theft. With how little these platforms pay for these short-form videos, creators have to spam their channels with as many videos as possible to make any income. Since we see a high volume of spammed content, these platforms see a higher volume of traffic, allowing them to take these new artificially inflated numbers to investors and rake in a higher profit. The problem is that creators get paid less, these platform heads get paid more, and we see a degradation in the quality of the content provided on these platforms. This mixed with the meta currently being theft (as its the easiest form of content to spam), only works out for the heads to not do anything about it which is why I'm glad creators are finally discussing it. This video was really well put together. Good job friend

The issue isn't just that you won't watch the original after watching a reaction. It's that the reaction content is pushed more by the algorithms because react channels have a higher concentration of high quality content uploaded faster and at higher volumes than the channels who actually create the content in the first place.

@@jackbequick Nah, I was just pointing out that SadToffee isn't actually making the case they think they're making here. Reaction channels can actually serve a valuable purpose in generating what's called "earned advertisement", spreading awareness about things that other people might not encounter. It also helps boost entire subjects in algorithms for social media feeds. This works _particularly_ well for little bits of information or advertisement for video games, music, and artists. However, it's intensely negative for long-form videos or content where the main draw is a story... The kind of stuff you would normally enjoy alone and wouldn't seek to revisit and share with friends. It's detrimental in that case. This whole genre is actually very nuanced. Properly thought out reaction channels can create a mutually beneficial ecosystem for all involved parties.. However, poorly thought out ones created with lazy and selfish intentions waste valuable server storage and pollute our collective unconscious. Just like any low-brow content, really.

I’ll be honest, I rarely ever watch KZread Shorts (maybe once a month tops) and I’ve never downloaded a single of those other apps (TikTok, Instagram, etc.) because I could tell immediately that it was going to destroy social media for years to come. I feel like another side effect of all this is the fundamental devaluing of creative works. When these platforms actively encourage the mindless theft and regurgitation of content (which you proved), it shifts how the viewer engages with what they consume from appreciation/enjoyment to opportunism/exploitation. I'm no longer watching a video to see what this fellow human made, I'm watching it to see how I can directly benefit from it. With that shift comes a steady erosion of a person's ability to view ANYTHING through a lens other than "how can I use this." Fantastic video, huge props to you and your team!

I think one thing you didn’t touch on is the fact many ppl don’t have interactions with other ppl on a daily basis. Most ppl go to work come home and go on the internet. It’s a weird period where we’ve never been more connected but at the same time we’re more alone than ever. So ppl go to react videos to get the sensation of watching something with someone. Even if it’s artificial and fake it’s just enough to get the euphoria that is being with someone. And the ppl that do have friends they do hang with on a daily basis might not be into the same videos/topics your into so they won’t react to the video with you. So what’s the alternative? Go online and watch someone give a reaction/ insight on a video you thinks funny or interesting. It’s essentially a drug at this point and nobody has addressed it head on because it’s not a drug you would normally think of. And when you say reaction videos does this include game reviews? And when you say content theft does that mean clips only of KZreadr content or all content in general? These are questions that should be being asked and decided on. But the internet is moving so fast and rapidly you could say congress and government hasn’t even come close to coming up with laws for problems with the internet. They’re honestly probably a decade or two behind these problems. The issues is they’re so many problems in the world rn the government is overwhelmed with physical problems and having even thought of the mental problems coming with the rise of the internet. My best advice to you would be to gather up as much KZreadr content creators as you can and demand a whole new Committee to oversee the internet as a whole. Please like this comment so that he sees this idea.

Despite all of their shortcomings and problems, I have to admit that Fine Bros did more for reaction content than anyone else has before or since their peak. They didn't just slap people down into chairs to watch videos, they also interviewed them, had them express their feelings about the topic before and after viewing the video in discussion. They also didnt just show the entire video, but just the parts where the people watching had the most interesting responses. And above all that, they also gave proper credit, showing the title and creator in both the video itself and the description with a link. It felt less like a reaction and more like a discussion piece, and I remember that being one of my favorite parts of their videos back when I watched them.

I’m not a content creator (unless you count 2 random videos of me playing deep rock) or proper artist or anything, but as someone who has spent many hours building and painting tabletop minis I can certainly confirm that making something of your own with your own skill and hard work is something that really does mean something to you and I cant imagine how much it would hurt to just have it stolen and remade and ruined by random people you don’t know

Reporting back: I scrolled for 10 minutes on TikTok. Here were the results: 22 videos were completely original. No stolen sounds, and if the video wasn’t the creators, they always had an interesting spin to it. 7 videos were at least somewhat stolen. Whether all of the content was stolen or just the sound, it didn’t matter. I hope you find that the results of my experiment were helpful.

With you being one of my favorite animators, thank you. It's really sad to see this become the reality of social media today and I feel like not enough people are aware of it and more people need to be bringing this up. Maybe there are, and the algorithms just tend to make sure it never gets pushed to anyone, which is sad. Things are starting to feel so much more corrupted. So with the bottom of my heart, thank you for making this video.

Watch parties are a very enjoyable form of social interaction for me. Getting in a discord call with a handful of close friends and watching the stuff that I personally think they would enjoy seeing has been a great and engaging way to spend our time and enjoy each other’s shared emotional responses. React streams seem like this concept except with all the actual personal relationship side of things stripped out. Another thing I enjoyed about react content before it blew up, was seeing a particular piece of media (like shows or animations or game moments), enjoying the everloving crap out of it, and looking to react videos to ride that high a bit longer, to watch other people get the joke or feel the same emotions I did while getting to rewatch the content. While this is a valid use case, it doesn’t really apply if reaction content is made the *first* exposure to the media. One thing I feel would help is normalization of “watch the original first”, if more platforms *by default* had an easy to use link to the original content.

Watch the original first still doesn't solve the issue, these videos of reactions somehow have millions of views, this pushes it in the algorithm and gets rid of actual creators having the possibility of getting their video clicked on, there is a limited amount of videos that KZread can show a person on the homepage, therefore having any react videos damages everyone.

@@crazydrunkenirishdude6503 I mean that once agein is a bit to broad of a statement. i Generaly dont watch React content exept for one dude Well his Reaction to a Video tends to be 2 minutes of video to React to in a 30 minute video where he Talks about things Relatet to that (In his case he Was a Former Soldier in the Us Military and mostly reacts to things that fit in some way with his Background)

I feel you. I completely acknowledge the fact what a disaster reaction content has become. But I can’t stop watching it. I’m not talking about KZread shorts or Tik-Tok, but rather about an hour long reactions to my favorite series or something. It’s my guilty pleasure.

@@LittleDanny9899 "Experts React"-type content is honestly great! It's very enjoyable seeing an expert in a field praise something relating to it in a game or animation. There are too many examples to count. But I genuinely think the world is better with that content than without it. That doesn't excuse low effort reacts in the slightest, though.

YES YES 9000% YES! While it’s not quite the same, the edutainment coding platform Scratch allows people to remix each other’s projects, but whenever they do, the site automatically provides a handy link to a visual aid to see how many people remixed it, if what you’re watching is a remix, and of course, the original version at the root of all the iterations! And each username on the visual is a link to each respective version! If KZread, TwitterX, and TikTok had an easy, automatic link to the original and/or the requirement for creators to leave a link to the original source of a reaction or other video, that can certainly help! It’s not perfect, (and Scratch is not the same kind of website as places like KZread, Rumble, or even Newgrounds) but it would be a good start!

This a HUGE problem and why I am trying to stop social media use. It is SO draining by forcing reels down my throat. Tik Tok especially ruined this. Social Media used to be fun! Watching reactions, of a reactor reacting to videos is so frustrating but thats the “meta” now. I really hope that it changes but I doubt it. Which is why I’m scared to even post my own stuff for fearing of me becoming a react video 😭 It’s an endless void and it’s’ frustrating. Thank you for this video!

That's because it's all about engagement so the companies can to advertisers and go "Look how many people watched these videos! Here are there interested to help you made more annoying ads! GIVE ME MONEY NOW!" In the end, YOU are the product. They don't care about the content on their platform, they only care about engagement.

The only reaction video from large creators I regularly watch are reactions to Nintendo directs because it’s so much fun to see them get excited to seeing sequels or new projects involving their favorite game franchises get announced. Even if I’m not the biggest fan of a certain series, seeing someone else get excited over it, just adds to the enjoyment for me.

Agree, I think reactions to announcements for games and movies are still valid since it's relatively easy to say something of your own opinion for a game or movie trailer. I just don't watch reactions to individual content creation anymore since I'd rather support the original creation.

My playlist of videos where people are speaking out against plagiarism and the miserable state created by the current nature of online "content" has another perfect addition. Really, truly hope videos like this will continue to be made, recieve the attention they deserve and by proxy allow viewers and consumers the chance to understand the problem and strive to fix it or at least not add to it. Great work circle.

Not sure what else I can say to truly contribute to the conversation, but I appreciate that you, with the massive platform you have, are not afraid to voice your opinions, despite it being an overall risk to your channel's statistics. You have proven that you care more about the state of the world than your channel's longevity. Due to this, you have earned my respect, my like, and my subscription. You deserve it. :)
