I’ve never seen anyone explode off a cut so fast after a sudden change of direction. It’s unguardable. I don’t even know if its humanly possible to react to that type of movement. It’s legitimately terrifying. Urgh it’s so aggravating thinking of how badly true fans of basketball got robbed of this man’s talent. Some people don’t care because mvp Rose never played for their teams but damn it was a pleasure watching him play.

As a working photojournalist based in Chicago, I got to witness D Rose's rookie season, his MVP season, and many of his skills up close (I'm visible in many of these clips taken at the UC, and I was there for his first injury in the playoffs Vs the 76ers), from the baseline. He was magical, on both ends of the court. Such a shame his injuries limited what he has been able to do, but we the fortunate ones who saw him live, in his prime, will never forget it.

  • @theindivisible

I agree but it's a different kind of explosiveness. Westbrook is explosive, strength and forcing himself. Drose was shifty, fast and quick explosiveness that's more finessed. Think LeBron vs Jordan. Both explosive. LeBron relies on his size and strength while Jordan relies on his skills, hang time and shiftiness, changing pace, one step and shifting directions

I've been a bulls fan long before they drafted rose, but man there was something magical about him in that 2012 season. he was like a combination of Westbrook and kyrie. had the insane handles and body control of kyrie, mixed with the freakish athleticism of Westbrook, and you have vintage d rose. whenever people talk about d rose I always like to say he was Westbrook before there was westbrook

Exactly they did a video on why him and Durants mechanics are so bad for the the body. We all remember being 18 and having the bouncy body but that shit quickly goes away as you age. I’ll never forget the hell I placed my body through trying to go special forces for the military. I look back and now that my body is so broke I sit and wonder why I didn’t invest in a good stretching program along with study bio mechanics to learn why my form when it came to running, swimming and everything was trash and that the only reason why I put the numbers I did up on the board was bc I was fucking 18 and now that I’m 28 I look back and scream at old videos of myself and wonder why it wasn’t so obvious to me. Wonder if Derrick ever look back and go damn if I would have been more aware of how I did things I wouldn’t have had this problem, bc I sure do.

@@dvdivine1962 I understand you completely. What I’m saying is, Derrick Rose was at his best abilities before injuries occurred. Yes, injuries helped him develop mentally. But, we’ll never see MVP level rose again due to him running his body to the ground for fan’s approval. The level of trickery he showed was unmatched. Just wish he wasn’t so reckless.

merio no. It's not "luck" that they are Always healthy. They have some of the best landing mechanics in the NBA and they are aware that injuries don't happen with no reason. If D-Rose took care of his body like Lebron does he would not be a bench player rn.

Fact is, rose won the mvp and westbrook got nothing. Rose dragged a subpar supporting cast to 60+ win seasons and the second round of the playoffs and westbrook couldn't get his team to to playoffs, but westbrook wasn't healthy for the entire season last year, so you need to factor that in as well.
