Careful with the "experience is always good, even if you're not getting paid" sentiment. I'm not a professional mermaid, but as an artist i know this idea is popular to exploit. When someone is offering "experience" or "exposure" you should be suspicious, they're probably just out to get you to work for them for free.

sarah sequeira don't work with her because I'm one of her videos you see if you know what Fin Fun Mermaid Tails and you have one she's offending their company and if you're working at Fin Fun Factory or anything or you know anybody who works there you should tell them that Alka mermaid is trying to offend them because she was a junior size to say that they were all rip off and that that's her tails are so fake and they don't even look real and I swear that her monofin give you blisters and they look like sandals stuck together with a fake mermaid tail it looks like one of those from Ebay that are cheap from those cheap sellers

You should make a swimming channel where you teach normal swimming

I remember when I was a younger teen, I did mermaid entertaining for kids parties instead of getting a job 😂

when it comes to parties, what should a mer have prepared? other than props. like skit wise? what have you seen work best? also, when it comes to the swimming classes, if you have students who want tails but you do not make them, you can buy from someone who does. but should there be an extra fee added so you as the middle mer receive a small profit? or is that not something you should do?

Hello Stephanie, - For mermaid swimming parties you should bring accessories like hula hoops or pool sinking toys. - Skills wise you should practice your dolphin kick on your front, back and side. You should be able to swim without using your arms if you need to hold kids and/or accessories. You should be able to guide the swimmers to take nice mermaid photos. You should practice to flip you tail after diving to make a nice splash. - To sell mermaid tails you can buy our Aquamermaid tails at wholesale price sell them at retail price. What defines a "professional" mermaid? What kind of classes or certifications would you recommend?

"professional" simply means you charge money (as opposed to the recreational mermaids who just do it for fun). Useful certifications to get would be freediving, maybe scuba, and first aid/CPR.

I'm fairly young and want to practice on it but I don't really plan on getting a silicone tail when I'm older, can you still use a fabric tail to be a performer?

@AquaMermaid Do mermaids for hire (as emploees, who do not own a company, but manage themeselves on social and stuff) pay taxes? Or that only apllies if you are the owner of your company?

Do you think people would go to mermaid *prep* ? So like, teaching people *without* tails or monofins. Teaching them how to sink, having talks about risks, and what to do if you get a cramp.

I think that it might actually be easier sometimes because there aren't very many mermen, so photographers and shows need more. However, it may be hard to overcome stereotypes, but I say go for it!

NEGAN I would argue it's easier. There aren't as many mermen as there are mermaids. So you won't have as much competition. But to be honest, I'm no mermaid so I have no idea how easy it is. I imagine it isn't that different from any other performer.

I want to start classes and be a professional when I grow up. My parents think I want to be a vet though. I have no idea how to ask them or really talk to them about this. I am afraid they will think it is stupid.

You could be a Vet and a Mermaid. You can tell your parent you are being a mermaid now just for fun and to do sport and later if you want to start working as a mermaid you can do it part time to start.

I wanna be a mermaid so bad! I’ve had a mermaid tail sense I was 5 and now I’m 10 so I’ve been working with kid mermaid tails for 5 Year’s!

I really would love to be a professional mermaid when im older so I want to start classes soon.

It all depends what you want to do with your tail. Different models are better for different use. As a starter mermaid tail we recommend ou Aquamermaid tail. aquamermaid.com/collections/store/products/mermaid-tail It is light and it includes a real fin inside. It will give you a lot of power when you swim and flexibility to do more advance movements compare smaller fins like toys. If you want to do more performances and shows you can choose to go with a silicone tail but I will wait until you stop growing up. That way you can keep the same tail for a really long time.

Zozo Ladybug16 This is eight months later but whatever... I recommend fin fun. They have great quality tails that last a long time. They are easy to swim with and are pretty realistic for fabric tails. ;)

I plan on getting a furred tail so I can swim in the winter. As I am also on the chunky side I can say that I'm an Artic mermaid with a layer of blubber to keep me warm. I think my local zoo/aquarium would be ok with this. But I need to ask first. I think the zoo is an amazing place.

me ferret don't get their product because their product gives you blisters once I got their product and when I was so long as it they gave me tons of blisters and my skin was peeling off so I threw it out

13 years old it a bit young to start working as a mermaid. We recommend you to practice and offer your mermaid services as a volunteer mermaid to get some experience and you can start officially working around 16 years old.

13 years old is a bit young to start working you should practice you swimming skills until 16 years old and maybe start to work. If you have a friend a bit older you can be her assistant.

I would recommend to start working around 16 yrs, for now you can practice your swimming skills and maybe become the assistant of an other mermaid that is a bit older than you

the local emo Well, it depends. You should research what the working age is where you live. Where I live, the age you are able to work is 14, with a permit. I am planning to be a professional mermaid starting when I turn 14 next year. I am already planning my prices and things like that. And remember, if you need, just reply to this post.
